INTRODUCTION
Bondstrong Pty Ltd have worked closely with our Sanitary Process Engineer, Dietmar Scheyer, todevelop a mobile toilet blocks system aimed as a cost effective solution to the community sanitary needsof both developing countries and for specific instances of developed countries for remote and/or off thegrid locations where modern infrastructure is not sustainable in standard accepted format.
We have utilized 20ft and 40ft seacontainers as cost effective transportable structures to house both theintegrated Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and Communal Toilet Block(CTB) as they provide a costeffective and robust solution for the intended purpose. This transportable solution is very flexible forcommunity needs as configurations are easily mixed and matched to meet changing needs andpopulations. The toilets can be either the squat type that is traditional in the developing communities ofAsia or the sit on type that is preferred in developed countries or a mixture of both. Urinals can replacecubicles in the men’s facilities where it increases the efficiency of operation.
Our design has full segregation of the sexes where a block of toilets is allotted uniquely for both malesand females and is configured to maintain full privacy and safety as important considerations.
Applications
We see our STP/CTB units to be particularly useful for the following applications:
Remote Mining Camps Natural Disasters & Humanitarian Relief Community Groups with localized populations of up to 1500 Military Camps Mobile Hospitals Refugee Camps Large Public Events (music festivals etc)
Waste Treatment
The modular sewage waste treatment plant incorporated into each STP/CTB model uses fixed activatedsludge process to breakdown the waste water and fecal sludge. This process provides the idealenvironment for rapid bacterial growth by ensuring ample oxygen and food equally distributed to bacterialayered on the process media’s surface thus enabling effect treatment and process of the waste to meetthe required standards of purity for release into the environment as harmless effluent that is Class A (safeto swim in but not defined as potable water).
Design Capacity
Based on the processing capacity to each STP/CTB model we have based our designs on 15 litres ofwater use per person (5 litres flushing/10 litres hand washing), here is the daily based upon two uses perperson per day:
1. Type A = 36 cubic meter per day or 1200 persons2. Type B = 18 cubic meter per day or 600 persons3. Type C = 18 cubic meter per day or 600 persons
4. Type D = 12 cubic meter per day or 400 persons
5. Type E = 12 cubic meter per day or 400 persons
Actual usage will vary greatly according to the application and environment, the above number of persons
catered for is purely indicative.

Power Supply
For municipal applications there is no special requirements as we can use existing power infrastructure.
For remote locations without mains power availability or were the environment is number one
consideration, as an off-the-grid application we can design and provide power supply in any of the
following configurations which will be incorporated into the overall package:
Solar Photo-Voltaic Panels, combined with battery storage back-up;
Solar Photo-Voltaic Panels, combined with Wind Generator and battery storage back-up;
Solar Photo-Voltaic Panels, combined with battery storage and fuel powered generator back-up.
We can mix and match the power supply design to meet the client’s specific requirements.
Plumbing and Installation
For short term use and STP/CTB units can be installed onto level ground with wooden chocks
underneath. For long term applications each unit is installed onto the client’s choice of the following three
options:
Concrete plinths;
Concrete Slab;
Leveled Gravel Bed.
For typhoon or cyclone prone areas we would recommend using and fixing the units to concrete plinths or
slab options only as we will design these as hold-downs to withstand the specific typhoon or cyclone
rating for the location.
Each type of STP/CTB has a Water Tank on the roof to provide water supply for flushing and washing
hands. This is to be plumbed into the local water supply or topped up regularly from a water cart.
Commercial
We are pleased to offer our STP/CTB systems under the following commercialarrangements:
Purchase outright, ex-works Philippines; Short term hire on a fixed sum that includes site set-up, servicing and
demobilization; Long term hire on a monthly rate that includes site set-up, servicing and
demobilization; Other arrangements specified by Client and approved by Bondstrong.
Note: All arrangements will be subject to our terms and conditions prior to acceptance of any order.
