Local routesThere is a cycle route 2 miles from the site, although is quite hilly and challenging. Unfortunately cycling is not allowed on the estate footpaths.

Local routes There are 72 miles of footpaths taking you through the Dales from the site. There are also beautiful riverside walks to Burnsall and Bolton Abbey.

Visit Skipton Market on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. It extends from the castle all the way down Main Street with lovely produce.
The riverside walks in Strid Wood are fantastic. Have breakfast at the cafe.
We enjoyed both the Keighley & Worth Valley and Embsay & Bolton Abbey railways.
The variety of bird life in the area was fantastic. We had a regular visits from a greater spotted woodpecker, tits, finches and all the usual garden birds.
On a warm day, a visit to Billy Bob’s Ice Cream Parlour is a must, located just by Bolton Abbey.
Visitor’s top tips
Within a short drive from site, you will find several National Trust properties and sites, including Goddard’s House, East Riddlesden Hall, Fountains Abbey, Brimham Rocks, Beningbrough Hall and Treasurer’s House.
The New Inn pub at Applewick has an excellent menu, fantastic beers and is dog-friendly.
There’s lots of lovely walks for dog owners.
There are numerous beautiful towns and villages to explore, and the Dales are spectacular.
We had excellent food in the Hebden Tea Rooms, and the best fish & chips at Bizzy Lizzies in Skipton.
