COMPLIANCEEach year, the SRA releases its Risk Outlook, including what it considers to be the main risks and challenges facing law firms and solicitors. With this in mind, Altior has designed a range of short, standalone courses to help tackle these issues, all delivered through our virtual classroom, Live Online.

EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY

this course covers what is meant by equality and diversity and why it’s important to the ongoing relevance of the legal profession.

INVESTMENT SCHEMES

this course will introduce investment schemes and their associated risks, providing real-world insight and examples.

MONEY LAUNDERING

this module will highlight ongoing requirements for lawyers and firms and will cover how to best ensure effective anti-money laundering compliance.

STANDARDS OF SERVICE – ADVOCACY

covering the harm that poor standards of service can cause in the wider industry, particularly when dealing with vulnerable individuals in the criminal justice system, this course will highlight and cover key areas for improvement.

Why take the SQE?

• Flexibility and affordability – spread both the preparation course and exam fees over a longer period to adapt the pace to fit your schedule and budget

• Learn whilst you earn – unlike the full-time LPC, you can earn whilst learning with BARBRI SQE Prep

• Integrate students into QWE – combining learning with the opportunity for qualifying work experience, allowing for greater flexible entry into the legal profession

In 2021, the Solicitor’s Qualifying Exam will bring an entirely new way of testing your legal knowledge and lawyering skills, consisting of two stages. SQE1 is a computer-based exam which will test your functioning legal knowledge by way of multiple-choice questions, mirroring the US bar exams. After passing SQE1, you will be eligible to apply and sit for SQE2, consisting of practical legal skills assessments such as client interviewing, advocacy and more.

Course options include 3 months and 6 months which would allow you to prepare flexibly to qualify to practice law in England and Wales.

What are the benefits?

• Bolster your CV

• Widen your expertise to work alongside international clients

• Deal with cross-border transactions

• Understand the differences between UK and international law
