In 1950, the grandchildren of the founder of the Pedemonte in Valpolicella cellar bottled his favourite wine to celebrate his 80th birthday. This was Amarone. A wine with a really full body and long life, where the sweet flavours from the dried grapes marry the scents of spices resulting from ageing in wood for a period of about three years.

Only sparse, perfectly ripe and healthy bunches are collected manually in plateaux for over-ripening in the fruit shed. Soft pressing and slow fermentation on new barriques for over 4 months is followed by a period of “elevage sur-lies” with “bâtonnage” twice weekly.
