Message
It is with great pleasure that I welcome all our Fellows, delegates and guests from our country and overseas to the 74th Annual Clinical Congress “Resolving Conflicts in
Surgery: From the Basic to the Complex”. The Philippine College of Surgeons hosts this annual meeting with the support of the Philippine College of Surgeons Foundation, Inc. from December 2-5, 2018 at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel. The
Committee on Surgical Education and the Committee on Conventions have prepared a very comprehensive 4-day program that should provide all disciples of the science of the various specialties of surgery with the updates and new knowledge to address
the growing complexities in the practice of medicine. The faculty is an impressive “best of the best” from our homegrown surgeons as well as from the region and other continents, particularly Europe and the Americas.
This is also an opportunity for us to renew friendships, fellowship and camaraderie among surgeons as 2018 comes to a close. Amidst the celebrations, let us not forget the true meaning of the coming season to honor and give thanks to the Lord
Almighty for our many blessings we and the College have received. Wishing you all the best of the holidays and the coming New Year.
ALEJANDRO C. DIZON, MD, FPCS President
Philippine College of Surgeons
Message
The excitement is building up!
On behalf of the Conventions Committee of the Philippine College of Surgeons, I am inviting all surgeons to join us on the occasion of the 74th Annual PCS Clinical Congress on December 2-5, 2018 at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City
with the theme “Resolving Conflicts in Surgery: From the Basic to the Complex”. A number of foreign experts have confirmed their participation and we look forward to an extremely rewarding and satisfying exchange of experiences.
We have likewise prepared a very entertaining and fun-filled Fellowship Night that I am sure everyone would enjoy.

Modern Manila Tour for RETURNING VISITORS and FIRST TIME VISITORS
The "other side" of Manila is a modern metropolis that is gaining increasing importance as a major artery in the financial flow of the Pacific. Your tour begins with a drive through the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex - a complex that lies on reclaimed land situated along Roxas Boulevard - entirely reminiscent of the glory years of the Marcoses. A drive through the complex starts with a glance of the fountain-adorned Cultural Center of the Philippines, the country’s seat of cultural awareness. Then move on to the Philippine International Convention Center and the Folk Arts Theater - favorite venues for both local and international events, concerts and performances. Adjacent to these structures are the Coconut Palace, a building made mostly of coconut materials, and the Sofitel Philippine Plaza, a deluxe hotel with a magnificent view of the Manila Bay. Proceed to Makati, the financial and commercial center of Manila. You will visit the famous Ayala Museum, whose core historical collections are the sixty handcrafted dioramas that chronicle the rich tapestry of Philippine anthropology. It also features a one-of-a-kind boat gallery showcasing miniatures of some of the watercraft that have contributed to the development of Philippine maritime trade and the colonial economy. Archaeological and ethnographic objects from the country’s northern and southern communities complement the historical collection. The Fine Arts collection features important works by three painters considered pioneers in Philippine art namely, Juan Luna, Fernando Amorsolo and Fernando Zobel. Your last stop is at the American Memorial Cemetery - perhaps the largest and most beautiful Armed Forces resting place outside continental United States. Departure from Edsa Shangri-La Hotel - 8:30 AM Estimated time of arrival at hotel - 4:30 PM Tour Itinerary: Depart hotel via Shaw Boulevard Rolling tour of CCP Complex – CCP/PICC/Folk Arts Theater/Coconut Palace
