Subject: FIRST Robotics Competition Event
On March 24 and 25, 2017, SCUSD robotics teams from the School of Engineering and Sciences,
C.K. McClatchy, John F. Kennedy and Rosemont high schools will be competing in the Annual
Foundation for Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Sacramento
Regional Competition held at the UC Davis’ ARC Pavilion. This yearly event brings high school
teams together from all over the region to compete in an exciting, challenging and entertaining
event.
This activity provides our students with an opportunity to put to practical use many of the college
and career ready skills described in our Graduate Profile. Our student led teams are given just six
weeks to design, build, test and refine a sophisticated 120-pound robot that must accomplish very
complicated tasks in a limited amount of time.
