July 16, 2015 Volume 2, Issue 1 BOARD RECOGNIZES HHS TRACK SEVERAL MEDALISTS, COLLEGE COMMITS The Board recognized several members of the Huntley High School track teams who competed in the Illinois High School Association state track meet. Senior Delaney Lyman placed 8 th in the pole vault, and senior Macy Tramblay took 4 th place in the 100-meter hurdles. Both girls will continue their track careers in college, with Lyman committed to compete for Division-II Colorado School of the Mines and Tramblay to run at Division-I Colorado State. Two individual boys runners and a relay team were honored. Senior Connor Boos placed 6 th in the 200-meter dash and 7 th in the 100-meter dash. He has committed to compete for Division-I Marquette University. Junior Keagan Smith placed 8 th in the 1,600 meters, and the boys 4x100 relay placed 3 rd . Relay members were senior Donnie Young, senior Aasem Awwad, junior Tim McCloyn, and Boos. Young has committed to play football at Robert Morris University. HHS Construction Progressing on Time, Under Budget Director of Operations and Maintenance Doug Renkosik presented an update on the HHS construction project, which is progressing on time and under budget. To date, construction costs for Bid Release #1 are tracking at $15,587,434.79 against a budget of $15,900,000.00, with Bid Release #2 costs tracking at $7,453,350.00 against a budget of $7,848,823.00. HUNTLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT 158 BOARD OF EDUCATION BOARD BRIEFS REGULAR MEETING JULY 16, 2015 HHS GRADUATION CEREMONY MOVING TO VENUE AT NIU The Huntley Community District 158 Board of Education approved a contract with Northern Illinois University to hold graduation ceremonies for Huntley High School at NIU’s Convocation Center through 2018. The cost will be $11,400 for each year, plus AV setup fees. This change marks significant savings over the cost to hold ceremonies at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, which was nearing $30,000 annually. “Principal Scott Rowe and I toured the venue in May and believe it will be a very comparable experience to the Sears Centre,” said Superintendent John Burkey. Several area school districts already hold graduation ceremonies at NIU, including DeKalb and Indian Prairie.

    • Minutes and closed session minutes from the Board’s Regular meeting and of June 18, 2015. • HR Personnel and Addendum Reports, as presented. • An intergovernmental agreement with District 300 to allow a non-resident student to attend District

    158 schools. • Purchase Orders issued at $7,121,512.85; Accounts Payables issued at $12,550.00; and Disbursements

    issued at $11,010,615.63, as presented. • Four contracts for school and activity fundraising initiatives. • Setting the date of September 17, 2015, at 7:00 p.m., for the District’s public budget hearing. • A 5-cent increase on the price of Type A lunch from $2.65 to $2.70, and the tiered pricing option, up

    to $3, for premium lunches. • Restructuring the position of Senior Accountant to Director of Fiscal Services, and the accompanying

    job description. • Change orders on the HHS addition and renovation project, in the total amount $59,166.00, as

    presented. • Change orders to the contract with All American Exterior Solutions in the net amount of $20,289.00, for

    work on the Chesak roof replacement project. • Change orders to the contract with Wm. Tonyan & Sons in the total amount of $10,070.00, for work on

    the security upgrade project. • The award of Bid #2015-49 Ice Melt to TruGreen, at a cost of $26,788.32. • Tabling a vote on the awarding of Snow Removal Services Bid #2015-40. • The combined bid for Bid #2015-42 Asphalt Repairs and to award Champion Paving at a cost of

    $243,000.00.
