We couldn’t do it without you. In fact, we need more than 1,500 volunteers to help make the Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon a world-class event and a great success for the runners, walkers, their families and spectators.

About the Blue NoseIn the beginning…
In 2004, seven Nova Scotians came together to create the BLUE NOSE INTERNATIONAL MARATHON. Their vision was to showcase the City of Halifax and to celebrate a community focused on healthy living and active lifestyles. Twelve years later, we encourage everyone in our community and beyond to get involved as a volunteer, sponsor, spectator, or participant, be it as a runner, walker, or Nordic walker.

History of Blue NoseLegend has it back in the age of sail when the sea was at the very core of our existence, mariners would arrive in the Port of Halifax with noses stained blue by the dye of their peacoat sleeves - the perfect substitute for a handkerchief. It is in their name, we run.
