Q&A • Based on your findings, which city, in your opinion,

would have more opportunities for a recent college

graduate? Did any of the data surprise you? o I think both cities provide opportunities for recent college grads. Pittsburgh

has a higher population for recent college grads (18-24) and has a lower

unemployment rate. However, Portland has a higher medium income and

a higher percentage of people with a college education. I am surprised

by both the unemployment rates and the race statistics of each city. The

unemployment rate for African Americans is significantly higher in Portland

than in Pittsburgh. While in Pittsburgh, the African American population is

much higher than in Portland.

o I also am surprised by how great the population of Portland is. I first picked

Portland because I thought the cities would be similar population wise. I

soon found I was wrong, since Portland has double the population as

Pittsburgh.
