OUR SPECIALTIES
Our Clients We’ve worked with several great clients and that’s
not a coincidence. We work with people we
respect and organizations we believe in. In return,
we’ve built not only great sites but great
relationships which result in repeat customers.
Take a look at some of our past clients. We’re con!dent that if you ask what it’s like to work with us, they’ll have some nice things to say.

Our WorkBluecadet is an interactive studio specializing in
multimedia experiences that excite, engage and
inspire. We build dynamic interactive installations,
applications, and website for museums,
universities and non-profits.
Over the next several pages we’ll show you a
little more about what we do and how it might be
relevant to the work you’re doing.
A good interactive allows the user to move fluidly through the targeted action points and content
areas. To accomplish this, the user interface must be straightforward, consistent, and easy for any
user to navigate. We will map out a navigation scheme illustrating how users explore content and
move through the experience. Through tap-testing and review, we will refine the process in the
early stages of the project.
Once the structural problems have been solved, we make things beautiful. Our designers are
second to none. We will create a look and feel for the media elements that is aligned with the
exhibition style and conveys the appropriate tone. Every interface element and piece of content will
be carefully considered, resulting in a pleasing visual experience.

The way one interacts with libraries, museums and performing arts spaces is changing. With the
majority of visits beginning on-line, the experience no longer starts at the front door but rather the
minute the website is loaded. Bluecadet views these changes as an opportunity to improve the
physical experience with a complimentary digital experience.
Projects like “La Invencion Concreta” at the Reina Sofia Museum use mobile to create a better
understanding of the exhibition. Rather than merely displaying the same image on the screen as you
see on the wall, the app provides complimentary information, fun facts and opportunities to interact
with the pieces in multiple languages.

Bluecadet has the capacity to create interactive dashboards and infographics that are both
informative and interesting. These displays can stream real-time data while adding a beautiful
aesthetic touch.
Our displays have been placed in museums and libraries and are poised to be equally as successful
in corporate headquarters or university buildings. They provide an easy way of conveying how a
building is performing environmentally and are even eligible for LEED credits in educating the
building’s users.

Our websites, apps and large-format interactives are the perfect way to tell the story of a company
or organization. From libraries and museums to alumni centers and stadiums, these displays are a
beautiful feature that also creates interest in the history or future of an organization.
We conduct preliminary testing with with full size mock-ups, and we never assume something that
works on a small monitor will work on a huge multi-touch screen. All of this helps us break out of the
typical single-user kiosk mold and develop experiences that are truly multi-user.
Multi-User Touchscreens
Storytelling, Exhibitions & Donor Walls
D O N O R W A L L : National Museum of American Jewish HistoryAn interactive donor wall provides a simple way for visitors to see where the museum’s donors are located
U S E R G E N E R A T E D C O N T E N T : Assignment Afghanistanis project encouraged visitors to share their own personal story and then placed it by location on a larger map. As the stories were added the site became a very personal diary of powerful memories.
A N I M A T I C S : Remembering Tim Hetheringtonis piece reinforces the linear narrative of Tim’s last days and allows visitors to literally trace his path. Visitors could toggle to different days by using the menu and music reinforces the tone. Watch it at http://vimeo.com/47978916
D O N O R W A L L S Interactive donor walls provide a sleek way of highlighting the people that made the building possible. ey also make adding new names or providing additional information a snap.
We believe that technology is at its best when it helps us understand what we can’t easily see or
teaches us something new. Creating environments that inspire using augmented information
enriches the physical space by adding another level of interaction.
Encouraging visitors to engage with content collaboratively can foster conversation and create a
lasting impression. We understand the design challenges of multi-user interactives like multiple
viewing angles, collaboration vs. competition, and clutter and are passionate about finding ways of
weaving the experience into the existing context.

Developing the interface
We’ve seen complex maps and gigantic signs that attempt to assist in negotiating physical spaces
but we think less is truly more when it comes to assisting people in getting where they want to go.
Mobile apps and multi-touch screens are an easy way to explain a complex spatial arrangement in a
bold way. We’ve created 2D and 3D solutions ranging from the scale of a single building all the way
to fly-bys at the scale of an entire city. While they differ in size, they all help visitors understand a
space with an interface as simple as a smartphone.
Immersive Environments

Green!eld African American Iconic Images CollectionA comprehensive mobile app provides a guided way of experiencing the collection of beautiful murals scattered around Philadelphia. e app is narrated by ?uestlove of the Roots and has detailed information that supplements the actual works.
Bluecadet has the experience to develop advanced projection mappings using commercially
available equipment. This technology can be used on walls, floors, partitions or ceilings to create
dynamic spaces the can teach or inspire. From purely graphic imagery to motion-driven games,
these mappings can truly transform a space.
If the projection system needs to be fine-tuned on a regular basis, due to vibrations in the exhibit
hall or getting bumped by visitors, Bluecadet can develop a simple software-based system for
recalibration.
Immersive Environments
Projection Mapping
I N T E R A C T I V E E N V I R O N M E N T S : Internal Proposal for New York Public Librarye above example shows how Bluecadet’s interactives can be incorporated into existed or proposed buildings. Projections can correspond to digital screens or tables and create a secondary layer on physical surfaces.
S P A T I A L M A P P I N G : University of Pennsylvania MuseumVisitors entering the Penn Museum’s “Maya 2012” exhibit are greeted by our “Night Sky” animation projected on a 30 curved wall. e projection required synching two channels of video and projection mapping onto the curved wall and around another structure in the gallery.
Interfaces allowing users to control applications using body motion are becoming more powerful
and commonplace; the technology offers exciting possibilities. Bluecadet has explored a number of
frameworks in this space, including computer vision, processing, OpenFrameworks, and Cinder. Our
team approaches gestural application development strategically, ensuring the appropriate
technology is used to reach the desired user experience. Rapid prototyping and an iterative design
and development process is key to success when working with these new technologies.
Bluecadet’s programmers are well versed in the capabilities of the hardware and software systems,
and offer the expertise to execute a fun, robust, and stable final product.

S C H E D U L I N G I N A D V A N C E : Hootsuite & TweetDeckFree sites like Hootsuite and TweetDeck allow you to schedule your postings well in advance. Many successful organizations actually plan things out a month ahead of time so they can be well prepared. is technique also allows you to review interns post before they go live and would also allow us to help create or look over the content you are planning to make public.
We’re at our best when we can work side-by-side to help you develop a rich media strategy to
integrate it into your experience as opposed to on top of it. We often work with organizations in a
consulting capacity to help establish a set of goals and action items. Our staff is made up of
illustrators, designers, developers, strategists and even architects to help you carefully weave a
digital strategy into your building designs. The next few pages illustrate a few of our thoughts about
digital strategy in the years ahead and how we believe the line between analog and digital is quickly
becoming more and more blurred.

Digital Strategies
The Future of the Built Environment
User-generated Content
Some programs, like the Yale University School of Art, have actually turned their websites into a faculty and student curated
wiki. Other organizations, like SFMoMA, (below) use Tumblr to allow guests to contribute photos, comments and questions
directly to their site. While there certainly must be safeguards in place, taking advantage of user-uploaded videos, photos
and blogs can convey a powerful sense of the the actual experience of visiting a building or organization. We will help you
choose an appropriate technology platform, and devise a long-term plan for implementing this approach.
The Future of the Built Environment
Barrier-free Connections
Transparency within the application process is
quickly becoming the norm both in academia and in
the private sector. Organizations like Unigo.com
now allow students to speak one-on-one with
counselors, admissions representatives, and even
current students and we think that museums,
cultural centers, and businesses are not far behind.
The web, at its best, is a powerful communication
tool. Your clients can leverage the latest web apps
to create open dialogue between their staff and the
people who inhabit their buildings on a daily basis.

The Future of the Built Environment
Seamless Multimedia Integration
With the influx of smart phones and ipad usage, the
world is quickly becoming accustomed to what the
tech and media world refers to ‘second screens’ or
‘companion devices.’ What this means is that we no
longer are satisfied with just one object or form of
media. Instead, we often use our phones and tablets
to provide supplementary information be it at the
museum, during a sporting event, or even sitting on
the couch watching television. We’re firm believers
that the second screen shouldn’t take the place of the
original object but it can provide additional information
or multimedia to help us appreciate the actual object,
building, or experience even more.
The Future of the Built Environment
Global Outreach
One of the major challenges for museums and cultural centers has always been creating an experience that is
enjoyable for not native speakers. As the world becomes more globalized and international travels continue to increase,
adaptive digital signage provides an easy way to cater towards various audiences. Bluecadet has experience with
creating localized projects like “Starved for Attention” which we completed for Doctors without borders.
The Future of the Built Environment
Infographic-Driven
Infographics are a quick and relatively inexpensive way to help users understand key information. We can help your clients
convey their message through graphics, and propose elegant and digestible ways of representing your data. The
infographics can be interactive and use JavaScript for animations.
The Future of the Built Environment
Augmented Reality
While not mainstream yet, it’s only a matter of time until augmented reality like Google Glass becomes integrated into
our everyday lives. Even now, smartphone apps allow us to see more layers of information about a place with the click of
a button or a quick hover with our camera. It’s important to consider how these advancements might improve and
enhance a student’s online experience, and how we can design a digital strategy accordingly.
