If you live anywhere in the Southeast, you’re within driving distance of Blue Ridge, Georgia’s
coolest mountain town, only 90 miles north of Atlanta via I-575, but a million
miles away from it all. With 106,000 acres of Chattahoochee National Forest, 300 miles of hiking trails and 100 miles of trout streams, Blue Ridge is the perfect place to get away completely. Rent a luxury mountain cabin and wake up to cool, quiet mornings on the porch with a cup of coffee. After a day of fun and adventure, finish the day in the same place you started, enjoying a glorious mountain sunset. You may never want to leave the cabin, but don’t miss out on the fun of exploring the Georgia mountains.

GET AWAY COMPLETELY
Selected as one of the South’s Best Mountain Towns by Southern Living magazine.
BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAIN SCENERY
Georgia’s Blue Ridge is simply beautiful. To the south is the Aska Adventure Area, Springer Mountain, Amicalola Falls and the head of the Appalachian Trail. To the east is the Blairsville/Hiawassee area with Vogel State Park and Brasstown Bald. To the west is the 40,000-acre Cohutta Wil-derness, and to the north is the Copper Basin of Tennessee, the Ocoee Scenic Byway and Ocoee River whitewater. The Blue Ridge area has more luxury mountain vacation rentals than anywhere in the Georgia mountains, including cabins with spectacular mountain views, on rushing creeks, the Toccoa River and Lake Blue Ridge. If you prefer a location closer to town, there are also hotels, bed & breakfast inns and intown Blue Ridge lofts.

THE TOWN OF BLUE RIDGEBlue Ridge was once considered an elite
health resort because of its pure mineral waters. It was established as a railroad town,
with the depot at its heart. Visitors would ride the train to town, eat dinner and take a leisurely walk to the mineral springs after dinner. Today, visitors still ride the train and take a walk along Main Street, enjoying the antique and specialty shops, galleries, restaurants, small-town atmosphere and friendly people. First-time visitors are amazed at the number and quality of shops and restaurants in downtown Blue Ridge.

MCCAYSVILLE & THE COPPER BASIN
A river runs through the quaint town of McCaysville, Georgia, twin city with Copperhill, Tennessee. Stand in both states at one time at
the Blue Line, which marks the spot where Georgia ends and Tennessee begins. Here the quiet Toccoa
River becomes the raging Ocoee River, flowing north-ward into Tennessee.

Local food is an essential part of the trip when you visit Georgia’s Blue Ridge and the Copper
Basin. There are some things you just have to try: local mountain trout from Toccoa Riverside Restaurant or Harvest on Main; fried apple pies and apple cider dough-nuts from Mercier’s; a cupcake from the Sweet Shoppe. Dine at casual upscale restaurants like the Black Sheep or Cucina Rustica, or at fun eateries like Chester Brunnen-meyer’s or the Boat Dock Bar & Grill on Lake Blue Ridge.

Blue Ridge, houses exhibits, a pottery and kiln studio, five artistic guilds, five galleries and an artist-in-residence program. Don’t miss the gift shop and rotating seasonal exhibits.
Blue Ridge Community Theater has a full calendar of drama, comedy and musical productions, including an acoustic music series, Live Music Is Better. You can purchase tickets online at blueridgecommunitytheater.com.

BLUE RIDGE SCENIC RAILWAY
HIKING & OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
Don’t miss the train! Take a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, which runs along the Toccoa River from Blue Ridge to McCaysville. Board the train at the historic depot in Blue Ridge. The view changes with the seasons — wildflowers and mountain laurel in the spring, rhododendron in the summer, gorgeous foliage in the fall, and a ride with Santa and his elves for Christmas. Special trips are planned throughout the year, including the New Year’s Eve Wine Train. Open March through December. Call 1-800-934-1898 or visit brscenic.com.
Two of the greatest outdoor adventures in the world begin in Fannin County. Both the Appalachian and Benton Mac-Kaye Trails start at the top of Springer Mountain. There are over 300 miles of hiking trails in the area, including short trails suitable for beginning hikers and families.
Aska Trails’ 17-mile hiking and biking trail system ranges from 1 to 5.5 miles and is open all year. Suitable for all levels of hikers; challenging for mountain bikers.
The Appalachian Trail (AT) begins in Fannin County at the top of Springer Mountain off FS 42. Favorite hikes include the trail to the AT’s terminus on Springer Mountain, Three Forks and Long Creek Falls.
Benton MacKaye Trail (BMT) is a footpath of nearly 300 miles through the Appalachian mountains of the southeast-ern United States. Favorite hikes in Fannin County are the hike to the Swinging Bridge on the Toccoa River and Falls Branch Falls.
Ocoee Whitewater Center Trails span 30 miles of paths for hiking and mountain biking at the Whitewater Center, located on Hwy. 64 in Tennessee.

WATERFALLSThere are 16 waterfalls within a short drive of Blue Ridge on our self-guided waterfall map, which you can download on blueridgemountains.com. Here are a few favorites:
Falls Branch Falls — The closest waterfall to Blue Ridge is a double waterfall about 10 miles from town at the edge of the Rich Mountain WPA.
Long Creek Falls — A favorite waterfall hike on the Appalachian Trail is from Three Forks to Long Creek Falls. Located off FS 58 in the Noontootla Creek area.
Amicalola Falls — The tallest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River is located about 22 miles from Ellijay on Hwy. 52.
Helton Creek Falls — It’s an easy hike to this double waterfall on Helton Creek, off US 19/129 about 11 miles from Blairsville.
Benton Falls — Located on the Benton Falls Trail in the Overhill country of southeastern Tennessee on the Ocoee Scenic Byway at Chilhowee Recreation Area.
The best waterparks are those created by nature, and there are plenty of options in the Blue Ridge Area:
Tube, kayak or raft the Toccoa River either above or below the Lake Blue Ridge dam.
The Morganton Point Recreation Area on Lake Blue Ridge features camping, fishing, a swimming beach and picnic areas, kayak and paddleboard rentals.
At Lake Blue Ridge Marina, rent a pontoon, canoe, kayak or paddleboard for a day on the lake.
PLAYING IN THE WATER Whitewater rafting on the wild waters of the Ocoee River equals a full day of fun.
The Olympic kayak slalom course at the Ocoee White-water Center is perfect for wading and sliding over the rocks when the river is not running (weekdays). Be sure to bring water shoes for the kids.

MERCIER ORCHARDS
WINE & BREW TOURS
Since 1943, four generations of the Mercier family have planted and raised 300 acres
of apples, peaches and more. Visit Mercier’s and taste for
yourself how a love of the land and dedication to quality are evident in every
delicious basket of fruit. You can pick apples off the tree, buy fresh apple cider and the best fried apple pies — a true farm-to-table experience.
The tasting room features homemade hard cider from the freshest Mercier-grown apples. Treat the family to a farm tractor tour and u-pick strawberries, blueberries, peaches
and apples in season.
Also visit Mountainview Orchards, an old-fashioned apple orchard and fruit market, and shop for locally grown fruits and veggies at the Downtown Blue Ridge Market and North Georgia Farmers Market during summer months.
The North Georgia mountains are well-known for the beauty and quality of our farm wineries, and the great taste of our mountain wines. A more recent addition are Blue Ridge’s outstanding craft breweries, recognized among the best in Georgia. Taste our wines and brews right where they are made, or in tasting rooms, local pubs and restaurants.
