In the Master Plan of Blue Playa Venao we wish to design a distinctive beach resort community emphasizing “walkable” neighborhoods surrounding outdoor green areas, a village center and other fine amenities for the enjoyment of residents and guests. A short boat ride offshore brings you to some of the best deep-sea fishing grounds in the world. Known as the Tuna Coast, the area has an abundance of Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo, Marlin and Sailfish– just to name a few! 16

From June to October watch humpback whales as they pass in front of Playa Venao on their annual migration.

From August to November, at nearby Isla Cañas, see thousands sea turtles lay their eggs on the 14km beach. Hawksbill, Green, Loggerhead, Ridley and Leather Back turtles make an annual migration to this special location.

Venao boasts many rolling hills and trails ideal for horseback riding and dramatic views of Playa Venao, and the Pacific Ocean. Located in an area whose main industry is cattle, locals hold regular rodeos, “lazo” competitions.

Achotines Bay is a 200 hectare forest reserve and home to the International Tuna Commission lab. It is one of the few research facilities in the world designed specifically for the study of tropical tunas. Tours can be arranged to see the giant tunas feeding and reproducing in this amazing facility.

Azuero is the seat of Panamanian culture and folklore, including the national dress, folkloric music, and other old-world traditions. Every February thousands of locals and visitors enjoy world famous carnivals in Pedasí and Las Tablas,

dancing in the streets during the week-long festivities. Visit the pueblo of San Jose to watch the local women stitch their delicate fabric for the Pollera, or watch a rodeo and horse races in this highly agrarian society.

With more than 30 endemic species, here you will find spectacular hiking and nature walks. The Smithsonian Institute and the Yale University School of Forestry have created a privately funded native species reforestation project. Visit and learn about dozens of tropical hardwood trees native to the area, and the scientific methods used to replant them.

With over a mile of soft sand, Playa Venao is ideal for a fun day at the beach! Swim, sunbathe, body surf, or relax in the shade with a good book. Play a game of beach volleyball or take a sunset stroll on the beach. 20
