Over 60,000 FFA members attended the 87th FFA National
Convention in Louisville, KY, from October 29 to November 1. In
four days, members from all 50 states, the Virgin Islands, and
Puerto Rico gathered together to “go all out” with all that FFA
had to offer. In those few days, members and advisors heard
phenomenal speeches given by a motivational speaker, Nick
Vujicic; Tyson Foods President and CEO, Donnie Smith; Elanco
President, Jeff Simmons; and a humorist and best-selling
Author, Jane Herlong in between performances by the FFA band
and chorus and the many talents from outstanding members.
While the students were not in session, they were either
browsing the FFA Mall or exploring the career and educational
opportunities from more than 450 industry-leading exhibitors.
At night, students either crowed the KFC Yum! Center to hear
concerts by Justin More, Easton Corbin, Scotty McCreery, and
Danielle Bradbery and the Springs, attended the massive FFA
Dance, or watched the FFA World’s Toughest Rodeo. In those
four days, the FFA members that went attained a lifelong
experience they will never forget.

On October 21, Midland

science CDE. Members that
participated in the contest did
a variety of events including
differentiating between tastes
and smells, evaluating food
safety, and responding to a
customer complaint letter.
Each chapter team also
competed for the best product

Chapter Chatter
Brimfield:
The Brimfield FFA Chapter sold pork chops to
the local community on October 24. By the end
of the day, 350 chops were sold giving the
chapter a net profit of $850. The chapter plans
to use this money to go to National Convention
this fall. The chapter would like to thank Larson
Insurance in Brimfield for giving them a space to
sell, as well as special thanks to all the
businesses and community members who
support the chapter.

My name is Rochele Rosa and I am your
Section 5 FFA President. I have been a
member of the Midland FFA Chapter for
4 years. During my years in the FFA I
participated in many CDE's, including
Ag Issues, Ag Comm, Parliamentary
Procedure, and Prepared Public
Speaking. I have also attended many
conferences such as 212 and
Washington Leadership Conference. My
experiences have made a huge impact on
my life and have shaped my decision to
double major in Ag Communications and
Ag Education now that I am a Freshman
at ICC. I look forward to meeting all of
you throughout the course of the year!
