“Implementing Guidelines for Managing Mass Casualty Incidents During Emergencies and Disasters Basic Life Support (BLS) “

1. Mandatory for all health personnel

2. BLS is a basic course and prerequisite of other life support

training.

General Objective:

To equip the participants with knowledge and skills to perform with confidence CPR for adult, child and infant as expected health care provider.

At the end of the course, the participants-◦Have understood that to give proper basic life support- cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adults, child, and infant is part of their social/moral responsibility as health care provider.

◦Can respond to respiratory/cardiac arrest victims and perform with confidence CPR for adult, child and infant

◦Can provide proper after care and endorsement of the recovered respiratory/cardiac arrest victim to a medical facility.

1. Guidelines in Basic Life Support 2. Introduction to Basic Life support and Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation

3. Foreign Body Airway Obstruction and Management

4. Respiratory Arrest and Rescue Breathing

5. Cardiac Arrest and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

Lecture-discussionDemonstration by the facilitator and return demonstration by the participants.

BLS Training is a Two Days Training Course ◦1 day lecture◦1 day practical evaluation

Modification :

◦1 Day lecture (First Day)◦4 Days Practical evaluation equally divided among the participants( On scheduled basis)

Participants work book has been designed to facilitate the learning and understanding of the material presented in the modules. The work book has “fill-ins” information which the facilitator will provide the information to the participants.

Practical EvaluationThis is based on the skills

provided for each method of performance.

Participants must pass the skill with a minimum score of 75 as part of the requirement to get the certificate.

Written evaluation

Participants must pass the exam with a minimum score of 30 as part of the requirement to get the certificate.

1. Certificate of AttendanceIf completed the course without

absence. Usually issued during formal and non-formal closing ceremony.

Certificate of Completion

Demonstrate the competency skillsCorrectly answers at least 30 equivalent points of the final examination.

exercises◦ Smoking is prohibited during the sessiohn◦ Mobile phones must be turned off, Interruptions

will only be permitted on silent mode for emergencies.

◦ Wear appropriate clothing and footwear in anticipation of practical skill exercises.
