Mike Jackson is the Chairman and Chief ExecutiveOfficer of AutoNation, Inc. Jackson is widely regardedas one of our generation’s most influential and effectiveleaders in the automotive industry. Since joiningAutoNation as CEO in 1999, then assuming the role ofchairman in 2002, he has been responsible for literallytransforming the automotive retail industry.
Under his guidance, AutoNation not only reinforced itsposition as America’s largest automotive retailer, thecompany also set milestones that stand as testimony tohis vision of the company as a standard bearer for amore customer-focused, transparent and contemporarybusiness model.
AutoNation is the only retailer in history to have soldmore than 7 million vehicles and is the only automotiveretailer to be a member of the S&P 500. It is a memberof the Fortune 500, ranking in the top 150 companiesand has been named America’s Most AdmiredAutomotive Retailer by Fortune Magazine for 6 of thelast 7 years.
Before joining AutoNation, Mr. Jackson was already arevered figure in the automotive world, having servedas president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, an$8 billion-a-year business that oversaw the Germanautomaker’s U.S. sales operation and 311 franchiseddealerships.
In that role, he helped create the vision and directionthat led to the luxury vehicle brand’s rejuvenation in theU.S. He came to that position after having served asthe Managing Partner of Euro Motorcars of Bethesda,Maryland, an operator of 11 new vehicle franchises.He also has served as chairman of the Mercedes-BenzNational Dealer Council. Fittingly, it was at Mercedes-Benz dealership that Mr. Jackson began his automotivecareer, starting as a technician for a dealership in CherryHill, New Jersey, when he was just out of college.

His achievements have been widely recognized by hisindustry peers. In 2009, Mr. Jackson was named one ofthe “Fifty Visionary Dealers” of all time by AutomotiveNews. He was named Automotive Hall of Fame IndustryLeader of the Year for 2003. And he is also the firstrecipient of the Sports Illustrated All-Star Dealer Award.Add to that his recognition as a six-time member of theAutomotive News “Dream Team” of automotiveexecutives (named again in 2010) and his four-timeplacement in Advertising Age's “Marketing 100,” andit’s clear that he has earned the respect of those inposition to judge genuine automotive excellence.
Closer to home, Mr. Jackson was honored in 2006 withthe Excalibur Award, which is given annually to SouthFlorida Business Leader of the Year by the Sun-Sentinelnewspaper. It was also in 2006 that South Florida’s CEOMagazine named Mr. Jackson CEO of the Year, and itwas just this year that he was inducted into the WayneHuizenga School of Business Entrepreneur Hall of Fame.He is active in a number of local civic and philanthropicinterests, and he serves today as the chair of TheMuseum of Art Fort Lauderdale.
In addition to these honors, he is widely sought after asa speaker and media personality for his thoughts on theauto industry in specific and the broader economy ingeneral. Of particular interest is the bold position he hastaken as an advocate for the creation of a moreeffective energy policy, his recommendation that weconsider a national tax on gasoline to fund research andcurb excessive consumption, as well as his stance as achampion of fuel-efficient vehicles, hybrids and electriccars. He has spoken recently to the Tuck School ofBusiness at Dartmouth College, the William J. ClintonSchool of Public Policy, the Association of MetropolitanPlanning Organizations, the North AmericanInternational Powertrain Conference, and the NADAOESA conference. Mr. Jackson is also a contributor toCNBC and Bloomberg T.V.

They are a composite ofleadership qualities the College acknowledges invetting candidates, and demonstrating wisdom,courage and leadership.

Business Leaders Scholars ProgramA portion of the sponsorship dollars raised for theBusiness Leader of the Year Award will providescholarship assistance to students at Florida AtlanticUniversity. The level of sponsorship will determine thenumber and dollar amount of scholarships awarded.
These one-time, expendable awards will be made usingthe following criteria:
• Awarded to students enrolled in the College ofBusiness at FAU
• Minimum 3.25 GPA to be eligible for the award• Demonstrate leadership qualities through service
Students will be notified that they have received ascholarship named for the Business Leader of the Yearsponsor and there will be an opportunity for thesponsor and the student to meet at our annualscholarship recognition luncheon.

TONY SEGRETO
BOARD MEMBER, BANKATLANTIC
Tony Segreto was one of the most experienced andtrusted anchors on South Florida television. He was anintegral part of the NBC 6 news team for 40 years.
Segreto joined WTVJ in 1968 as an intern. During histenure, he worked as a photographer, producer, re-porter, and anchor for both sports and news. In 1995,he was honored by the South Florida chapter of theNational Academy of Television Arts and Sciences(NATAS) with the prestigious Silver Circle Award,recognizing over 25 years of excellence in broadcastjournalism.
In 2003, he was inducted to the Greater MiamiChamber of Commerce’s sports hall of champions for alifetime contribution to sports. He was also inductedwith the inaugural class into the Archbishop Curley HighSchool, his alma mater, Hall of Fame. Also in 2004, hewas inducted into the Broward County Sports Hall ofFame. In 2009 Segreto was inducted into the MiamiDade College Hall of Fame and received the GovernorsAward by the Suncoast Chapter of the NationalAcademy of Television Arts and Sciences.
A South Florida native, Segreto played baseball andfootball in high school and had professional offers fromthe Houston Astros and the Baltimore Orioles. Instead,he proudly says, he opted for a career in broadcasting.
Segreto is enthusiastic about the community in which helives and works and is involved in numerous charitableorganizations. Segreto serves on the boards of the DanMarino Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of Broward,211 Broward, The Community Foundation of Broward,Forever Family and Gilda’s Club of South Florida.Segreto is also proud to be the spokesperson for theMake-A-Wish Foundation and St. Jude’s ChildrenHospital. In addition, he has served as HonoraryChairperson of the American Heart Association of SouthFlorida’s Annual Heart Walk.

He is also active in promoting awareness of Alpha-1AD.He sits on the Advisory Board of the Nova SoutheasternUniversity Huizenga School of Business and chairs theSports Advisory Board. He is a member of the OrangeBowl Committee, and recently appointed to the Boardof Directors of the Miami Sports Commission. Segretohas been the PR Ambassador of the South FloridaSuper Bowl Host Committee which recently hosted its10th Super Bowl.
Since his retirement, Segreto has proudly joined theBoard of Directors of BankAtlantic and Sports AdvisoryBoard of Great HealthWorks. Segreto and his wife,Roseanne, are the proud parents of Anthony JosephSegreto and Samantha Rose Segreto. In 1996, Segretoand his wife were honored by the American CancerSociety as one of South Florida's Most BeautifulCouples, acknowledging their contributions to thecommunity.
