Thank you for attending our SEO & Blogging seminar at the CHA Mega Show. In this seminar we shared a few of the criteria that Google looks for when ranking a post in search.

Truthfully, there are about 200 key indicators that effect a post rank in Google’s algorithm. These are just a few of the key criteria.




•post length should be between 500-700 words •content is original and does not appear on other websites

Tip: use a tool like http://copyscape.com/ to make sure that your content is unique and has not been copied…especially if you have guest bloggers.

•Google is looking for the BEST content serve it’s users •spelling errors look spammy to spiders •quality of spelling and grammar is a key indicator to the quality

of a web page

4. KeywordsUse Long Tail Keywords in your posts. Make sure those keywords appear in post titles and subheadings. Use keywords and phrases that are related to your main keywords…do not keyword stack your post.

•Using tags helps Google grasp the topic of your posts •H1-H6 with H1 and H2 offering the most value •H1 tags are most important. Blog post titles are considered

H1 tags. •Using H2 tags helps divide content into “scanable" blocks,

making it easier for Google to understand the subject of the content.

5. Title Tags

Blog post titles should:

•Contain keywords or phrases •Should be between 40 - 70 characters in length •Should be searchable! It’s about being found, not creative.




•Meta Descriptions are found on search engine results pages (SERPs)

•It should tell you what the post is about. •It should contain the keywords or phrase used in your post

title. •It should not be more than 160 characters.
