OUR LADY OF LOURDES
MASS SCHEDULE
Sunday: 9:30 a.m.
BAPTISMS
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole
Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit,
and the door which gives access to the other
sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed
from sin and reborn as sons of God; we
become members of Christ, are incorporated
into the Church and made sharers in her
mission: Since Baptism is not a private celebration,
but an incorporation in the large community
of the Church, Baptisms are ordinarily
celebrated on the fourth Sunday
of each Month after the 9:30 a.m. and
11:00 a.m. Masses.
WEDDINGS
Couples intending Marriage should call
the Rectory at least six months in
advance of the planned date.
RCIA
Please call the Rectory if you know of
someone who is interested in learning
about the Catholic Faith.

CHURCHES
Third Sunday of Lent
LIFE IS SHORT. DEATH IS SURE.
THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS:
Every Friday during Lent, Catholics all over the world pray the Stations of the Cross. The traditional prayer helps us enter into and meditate upon Jesus’ suffering and death as we live out the season of Lent. But where did this tradition come from?
To understand the Stations of the Cross, we have to understand the importance of pilgrimages in the history of the church. For many Christians throughout the centuries, traveling to a holy site – the tomb of a saint or the place of an apparition – was a powerful spiritual experience. The ultimate pilgrimage, of course, was to visit the Holy Land and actually walk in the footsteps of Jesus. As early as the 300s, Christian pilgrims visited the sites of Jesus’ way to Calvary in Jerusalem; but this journey was not possible for everyone. It became more and more popular to create “replicas” of the stations and other popular Holy Land shrines around places such as monasteries back in Europe. This allowed people to visit and walk the stations in a spiritual way.
When the Muslims who had conquered the Holy Land prevented pilgrims from walking the original Via Crucis (Way of the Cross), these reproductions became more important and it became customary, and encouraged by popes, that stations would be set up inside churches.
The Stations of the Cross may be prayed in a group (as we do every Friday in Lent at 7:00pm in Our Lady of Lourdes) or individually at home. I invite you to join us on Friday evenings.
LENTEN SERIES: All men are invited this Wednesday, March 27, as Blessed Sacrament Church will be hosting the 3rd session of the Lenten series. The evening will begin with Adoration at 6:00pm, followed by a light meal of soup, after which there will be a presentation by Scott Sollom who will be speaking on "The Prodigal Son.” I invite all the men of our parishes to join in this presentation.
CONFESSIONS: Confessions will be hard for our Wintersville parishes on Monday, April 8, at 7:00pm,
at Blessed Sacrament Church. I ask that you all make an earnest attempt to come and make a good confession.
DIOCESAN PARISH SHARE CAMPAIGN TIME: A few weeks ago you should have received your letter from me regarding the upcoming DPSC and this past week you should have received a letter from Bishop Monforton asking that you make a pledge to this year’s campaign. The response card was with the Bishop’s letter. Please make a sacrificial pledge this year. Remember, once we meet our parish goal, 100% of the money over that goal is returned to our parishes. I know I can depend on your generosity and goodness this year, as in years past. Please return your response cards to the Chancery as directed in Bishop’s letter.
PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR RCIA CANDIDATES: Who will be fully initiated into the Catholic Church at this year’s Easter Vigil: (Catechumens): Jennifer Harless, Peggy Miro and Michele Ziarko; (Candidates) Joey Hewitt and Terry O’Brien. They were sent to be accepted as official elect and candidates by Bishop Monforton last Sunday. Also pray for our three candidates who are to receive the sacrament of Confirmation: Anthony Rasicci, Tony Salinski and Kalah Ferguson. Please remember them in your daily prayers throughout this Lenten season.

MARCH
(Recognition of the Right of Christian Communities)
That Christian communities, especially those who are persecuted, feel that they are close to Christ
and have their rights respected.
“I shall cultivate the ground and fertilize it; it may bear fruit in the future.” (pertaining to today’s Gospel reading LUKE 12:1-9 or JOHN 4:5-42)
A barren lot one year could be bursting with flowers the next. Or it could become a public swimming pool, a new home, a vegetable garden, a storefront, or a picnic area. What might cause such a transformation? It has a lot to do with choices. What investment are we willing to make in an empty waste? How hard will we work to achieve our vision? The gardener in Luke’s parable is willing to make one last dedicated attempt to shower a failing tree with attention in order to save it. We never hear what happens, if his heroic efforts are worth the cost. But we do know what happens to a certain Samaritan woman who encounters Jesus at a well. Her life, too, has met with a series of failures. Jesus takes a chance on her, investing her with a priceless vision. She flourishes all in an hour. Sometimes all it takes to make a tree fruitful is the right gardener. (Alice Camille) What aspects of your life right now are flourishing? Which could use some living water to revive them?
We are still in serious need of help on Friday evenings. Please think about this! Hours are 5:30pm to around 10:00pm
We need men & women EVERY Friday evening – especially to work the floor.
No workers = not enough monies generated = increased assessment amount paid from our parishes

This session will be “The Journey of Grief – Part 2” This session explains why there is a need to put an effort into your healing, how the events that may have surrounded your loved one’s death effect your grief (ie: were you present when they passed or away?, was it an accident or an extended illness?, etc.). The video offers a step by step process on the best way to deal with your loved one’s belongings or can you not just to it yet? If you, or someone you know may be experiencing this right now, please join us or tell that someone about us and encourage them to attend. You are welcome to come along with them if they need the support. We hope to provide comfort in our answers and show you how there is a reason to hope.
