What is blended learning?
Blended learning means different things to different people.
Combining or mixing modes of web-based technology: live/web based classroom; self-paced instruction/streaming; video, audio, text/collaborative learning to accomplish an educational goal.
Combining any form of F2F learning with any form of instructional technology.
Mixing or combining instructional technology and actual tasks to link learning to life and work.

Access to a range of materials that meets student’s level of instruction and interests.
Self pacing for slow or accelerated learners—reduces stress and maximizes instruction. Individualized and effective range of
interaction between instructor and student: F2F, email, discussion boards, chat.
Learners have the ability to track their own progress.
Learners learn through a variety of activities that apply to many different learning styles.

What are the disadvantagesof blended
learning?

Feelings of isolation; minimal contact with instructors; lack of collaboration and interaction with peers.
Difficulty in the learning curve of navigatingthrough the system.
Lack of student motivation.
Lags in the feedback process.
Infrastructural problems—lack of funding, personnel, planning to e-learning process.
Learners do not know how to learn independently. Learning coaches do not know how to mentor students.
