Relieving Principal News with Louise Tate

Easter Hat Parade Next Tuesday, 27/03, all students (and Grandparents) are invited to take part in our school Easter Hat Parade, starting at 9.30am. Prizes will be given for originality of design, colour and cuteness in each grade e.g Preschool, Kinder, Year 1,2,3 etc. A special prize will go to the best recycled creation using items which have been repurposed. All students entering will receive a small choc egg. If your child is not allowed chocolate please let their teacher know so I can arrange alternatives. Family and friends welcome. Grandparents Day As part of the above celebrations will be our K-2 Grandparents Morning. An invitation has been sent home this week and includes contact details so we can cater for those attending. The timetable is as follows: 9.30am Easter Hat Parade 10.15am Ask Gran not Google questions 10.30am Games and Activities 11.00am Morning Tea for grandparents : provided by the school. K-6 go to Easter Scripture presentation in Y1-2 c’rm 11am 11.30am Finish Easter Scripture Presentation Our annual Easter presentation will be held next Tuesday at 11am in Mrs Skorjenko’s room. Peer Support: Bullying focus Students in Year 6 and selected Year 5 will train to be Peer Support leaders at the end of this term. Once trained, they will lead a small group of K-5 children each week in the Peer Support Program. In past years this has been a highly successful way of teaching leadership and conflict resolution strategies to our senior students. Our whole school Peer Support focus in Term 2 will be on Bullying. School Fees Please try and have all school fees paid before the April school holidays. These fees are used to support learning programs and purchase classroom supplies within the school. Our fees are very reasonable, at just $47, and we appreciate the community’s assistance in this matter. Payments are excepted in CASH or by POP. Note: POP payments are ‘per student’. You can pay for multiple events for one child but you can’t pay for multiple students in one POP transaction. CASH should be placed in a clearly labelled envelope / zip-lock bag and handed to class teachers.

POP is available via our school website: blakebrook-p.schools.nsw.edu.au

select ’Make a Payment’ from the navy blue ribbon.

Fill in details on Payment

Details screen

Click Next to proceed to the payment page where you can enter your card details for payment (Visa / Mastercard credit and debit cards accepted). Westpac Bank does not hold any card details so you need to enter them each time you make a payment.

Record POP Receipt Number and write it on the note returned to teachers that a POP payment has been made. Sickness Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell, or within 24 hours of vomiting. Be prompt when advising of a student absence please. The new system only allows teachers a five day window to report the reason for absence. You can send an absence alert in via SchoolStream app; phone the school; email the school [email protected] and it will be forwarded to the relevant teacher; or send an email directly to the teaching staff. Only assume your email has been read if you receive a reply. Head Lice Alert

Unfortunately the school appears to be infested with head lice / nits, particularly in the Y3-4 classroom. Please check and treat your

children’s hair. There’s no need to purchase expensive chemical treatments from a chemist. The trick is smothering the louse and

then removing EVERY nit (egg) from every hair shaft with a very fine toothed comb. Head lice can lay 100 eggs per night!

TIP: Saturate hair with cheap hair conditioner, leave in over night and wash out in morning. Then start the tedious process of combing

the nits out. They stick well to a strand of hair and you need to drag it all the way off. A nit egg is usually brown and pops when

squashed. If you see white dots on the hair that means the nit egg has already hatched. If you miss just one nit egg the cycle continues.

You will need to continue treating the hair for at least a fortnight.

Lego Master

Dane (Yr 6) has completed

two Lego masterpieces

during his own time at

lunch and recess.

Well done Dane, a budding

engineer in the making!

BPS STAFF raising money for Cancer

Hats off to both Lochie and Miss Stephens for

volunteering their time on the weekend walking

in the Relay For Life. Also for Lochie, who had his

head shaved last Saturday raising funds for the

Leukaemia Foundation. Well done – we are proud

of both of you.
