    Annual Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Halloween Campaign Returns

    this October with a New Appearance

    Children and Adults Have the Opportunity to Choose From 6 New Characters or Design Their Own Box

    NEW YORK, July 16, 2012On Monday, July 16, UNICEF will announce their 62ndAnnual Trick-or Treat for UNICEF event, with a new look to excite kids about making apositive impact on other childrens lives. Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is one of the largestrunning youth volunteer initiatives in the U.S. Every Halloween for the past 60 yearskids have gone door-to-door for UNICEF. Rather than the traditional orange collectionboxes, this year they will feature a new cast of characters. Helping to encourage kids toexpress themselves while still raising money for a good cause.

    Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is a fun and powerful youth initiative that allows parents to

    teach their kids about the value of helping kids around the world, said Caryl Stern,President and CEO of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. This year we released a new cast ofcharacters that allows us to still embody the tradition of UNICEF while encouragingchildrens creativity with their collection boxes

    A monster, cat, princess, pumpkin, vampire, and witch are among the new designs of thecollection boxes. This year UNICEF is also featuring blank boxes, which will allow kidsto design their own box character.

    UNICEF will also hold their first-ever Create-a-Character contest. This will allowparticipants to submit their own character designs for the chance to be featured on next

    years boxes. A winning design will be chosen from each category (K-3, grades 4-6, andparticipants 13 years and older). The contest will be held from September 1 to October26. The winners will be announced on October 31. Visittrickortreatforunicef.orgtosubmit designs online.
