Le foto della tua intervista sono interamente scattate a Verona, la tua città. Se fosse stato possibile, in quali spot, di qualunque città italiana avresti voluto scattarle?Per me, la miglior photo session sarebbe viaggiare in una direzione a caso e skeitare tutti gli spot che ispirano un trik, anche se lo spot consiste in un parcheggio vuoto.Al di là di questo, tra gli spot che mi ispirano di più sarei andato ai bank di Torpignattara a Roma, al centro direzionale a Napoli, alla pool di Bolo-gna, ai full pipe sempre a Roma, e una palla di fieno su una collina in Toscana.

Govi Klan prima, Simone Iodice (Dynamic Production) a tutt’oggi hanno prodotto “documenti” di una storia del rollerblading Italiano in video. Con Wasted Years di Davide Regoli e Francesco Tommasi questa documentazione diventa anche fotografica.Quanto è importante secondo te questo tipo di memoria per il futuro della scena in italia?La documentazione visiva è essenziale. Credo che siamo stati fortunati ad avere delle persone che si sono impegnate così tanto nelle loro produzioni. Io sono stato vicino a un paio di queste (mi riferisco a iROLLER e The Wasted Years) e l’atmosfera creata dalla passione di queste persone è qualcosa di speciale.

C’è futuro nella scena italiana?(qualche young gunz?)Kekko (Francesco Liscio) è destinato a diventare un super pro.

Hai qualche consiglio per questi young gunz?Andate veloci.

Muore Italianrolling, nasce bladeinitaly e il primo campionato italiano di rollerblading. cosa ne pensi?Morto un papa se ne fa un altro. Non so, non seguo più la scena da un po’....ammesso che ce ne sia ancora una.

Parteciperai Quest’anno?Credo di no.

Il primo articolo di Bladeinitaly, L’ABITO FA IL MONACO, scritto da Enrico ha suscitato diverse polemiche.Tu sei molto attento alla tua immagine, non a caso la foto di quell’articolo è una polaroid che ti ho scattato durante una session a dicembre, moda e rollerblading per te?Ognuno si veste nel modo in cui si sente meglio, io prendo spunto dallo stile rock ‘n roll e mi fa sentire bene. Poi a me piace la filosofia dell’essere te stesso in qualunque cosa fai, perciò non cerco un abbigliamento particolare per pattinare.io sono così e ci sto bene.…in effetti, non è più come in prima media che volevo essere Tim Ward.

Hai parlato di musica, cosa c’è nel tuo ipod?Guns ‘n Roses, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Bob Dylan, Rory Gallagher, Blur, Blind Melon, Cream, Deep Purple.

Musica, rollerblading e...? (di che altro ti occupi?)Sono un Graphic Designer, sono particolarmente attratto dalle arti visive.Da circa un anno mi sto interessando alla fotografia, non foto di rollerblading, mi piacciono i ritratti, mi incuriosisce la mimica dei miei soggetti.

Da questo punto di vista, Daily Bread, Be-MAG, o il neonato ONE?Niente potrà mai eguagliare il Daily Bread.

Se dovessi scegliere una foto di rollerblading, tra le migliaia che hai visto da quando hai iniziato, quale sceglieresti?Senza dubbio una foto senza tempo è l’Alley-oop parallel fishbrain di Dustin Latimer nel canale a Irvine.

Perchè?Perchè rappresenta l’idea di rollerblading più bella, quella che io chiamo “Concrete Surfing”. Cioè saper sfruttare l’architettura urbana come il tuo skatepark.

Questo è il primo numero della FANZA, quindi non hai ancora visto niente oltre alle foto della tua intervista.Come ti piacerebbe che fosse, dal punto di vista dell’impaginato, delle foto e dei contenuti, in qualità di rollerblader e grafico?Beh, è una fanzine quindi credo che sarà fotocopiata o qualcosa del genere, perciò tutto interamente in B/W. Mi piacerebbe che l’impaginato fosse molto minimale, senza tutti quegli elementi grafici buttati a sproposito. E che ci sia un concept chiaro alla base di tutto.

Italianrolling’ s dead, bladeinitaly rises up and the first Italian rollerblading championship is at the end of his second edition.What do you think about that ?The king is dead: long live the king. I don’ t know, I haven’t been in the italian rollerblading scene for some time, Is there a scene any more ?

Are you going to enter the league this year ?I don’t think so. The first entry on bladeinitaly “L’ abito fa il monaco”, written by Enrico, blew up several polemics and lot of people went mad about that. You take a lot of care about your look, the picture of that discuss was a polaroid I shot you during a session in december,What about fashion and rollerblading?Everyone choose their outfit the way they feel better, I‘ m inspired by rockers style and I feel good rockin’ it... Then I’ m into the philosophy thing of just being yourself in everything you do, for this reason I don’ t choose a particular outfit to skate,so I dress the same either I’m skating or not. Actually... is not when I was younger and I would like to be Tim Ward.

Speaking about music...what about your Ipod ?Guns’ n Roses, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Bob Dylan, Rory Gallagher, Blur, Blind Melon, Cream, DeepPurple.

Music, rollerblading and ....? I’ m a graphic designer, I’ m especially interested in visual arts and photography, not rollerblading at all. I love portraits, I’m interested in mimic and expression of my subjects.

Daily Bread, Be-mag, or the brand new ONE ?Nothing’ ll be like Daily Bread, never.

If you had to choose only one picture in the history of rollerblading?No doubt.Dustin Latimere alley oop parallel fishbrain at the Irvine ditch. A timeless picture.

Why ?Becouse it rapresents at best what I call “concrete surfing”, to be able to use architectural enviroment as your skatepark.

This is the first issue of this ‘zine thing, so you have seen nothing but your interview pics.How would you like the zine to be, layout, pictures and contents from the point of view of rollerblader and graphic designer ?Well..if it’s a zine, I think it ‘ll be photocopied or something like that, so the whole thing is black and white, I would like a minimal layout, without all that random graphics elements. And...a clear, strong concept at the bottom.

Your interview pictures are all shot in Verona, your city. Which are your favourite spots around Italy ?For me the best session ever is travelling in a random direction and skating every single spot that inspire a trick, even if the spot is an empty yard.Besides this the most inspiring spots are: the banks of Torpignattara in Rome, the directional Centre in Napoli, the pool of Bologna, the full pipes in Rome and some hay-cock balls on some hill in Tuscany. Govi Klan before and Simone Iodice (dynamic production) after have brought to us documents of the history of italian rollerblading in a video format. With Wasted Years of Davide Regoli and Francesco Tommasi this documentation become Photographic too.How much important is this kind of memory for the future of the italian scene ?The visual documentation is essential. I think we are all lucky to meet individuals that put so much dedication in their productions.I was close to a pair of them (I refer to Iroller and The Wasted Years ) and the atmosphear created by their dedication is something special.

Is there a future in the Italian scene ? Any young gunz ?Kekko, (francesco liscio ) is mean to become a super pro

Any advice to young guns ?Go fast.

COME OGNI ELEMENTO DI ARREDO URBANO, anche uno skatepark è vittima di quel fenomeno spontaneo che spinge inesorabilmente alla decorazione delle sue superfici. Come ai fruitori delle panchine, dei cavallucci a molla, de-gli scivoli e delle altalene, anche ai fruitori degli skatepark viene attribuita la paternità dei capolavori che entro il primo anno di vita appaiono sulle loro superfici.Ovviamente, quando attraversando un parco giochi notiamo sul cavaluccio marino a molla messaggi del tipo : “the king was here”, carletto ama natasha”, “Ti spacco il xxxx” , “xxxxxxxx”, “born 2 win”, “too fast too live too young to die” e altro ancora, penso immediatamente ad un ragazzino sotto i dieci anni con un leccalecca ed un pennarello newyorkese in mano.Anche se nessuno rivendicherà mai la paternità delle opere, quello che resta è l’ ennesimo “capolavoro di comunica-zione spontanea”, segno, forse, del suo inserimento nel contesto. Strano è che tra le innumerevoli massime ed epiteti che vi leggono nessuno abbia mai pensato a scriverne alcune di pubblica utilità, del tipo:“Wax ?”,”Iron Maiden”, “Locals Only”, “go fast” e via dicendo....

“GRAFFITI ON SKATEPARKS ARE BETTER THAN BULLSHITS ON MESSAGEBOARDS”

Lo skatepark dei G. Govi di Genova è nato grazie alla promozione fatta da un gruppo informale di rollerblader e di skater du-rante il 2003-2004 nell’ ambito di un progetto europeo (Azione 3 del Programma Gioventu’ della Commisione Europea).Il progetto prevedeva l’ organizzazione di una serie di eventi , mostre pubbliche, dj set videoproiezioni, e distribuzione di mate-riale promozionale, alla quale è seguita una fase di incontri e riunioni fino alla formazione di un tavolo di progettazione parteci-pata dell’ ambito del Municipio VIII Medio Levante, che ha portato, alla progettazione di uno skatepark pool a cui è seguito nell’ estate 2004 la costruzione dello skatepark pubblico dei govi ( primo skatepark genovese), finanziato interamente dal Municipio VIII Medio Levante di Genova.La presenza dello skatepark ha aperto la strada ad un programma di rivalutazione dei giardini pubblici più ampio,dalla apertura notturna durante i mesi estivi, con allestimento di palchi per concerti e attività ricreative all’ organizzazione di eventi di portata rilevante.Per quanto riguarda l’ impatto sulla scena locale, la presenza dello skatepark si è rilevata essere un completo successo; anche se di dimensioni assai ridotte rispetto agli skatepark più vicini, Groove di Sestri Levante o Trinity di Milano, l’ insieme di rampe ha definito un luogo nel quartiere genovese che la gente riconosce come punto di ritrovo dove praticare skateboard e rollerbla-ding oppure dove andare ad ammirare quanto i ragazzi provano su rampe, muretti e ringhiere.E’ passato ormai una anno da quando lo skatepark è stato ristrutturato e migliorato da Nelziskateramps, grazie ai contributi del Municipio VIII medio Levante di Genova , del Consorzio Sociale Agora (cosset) e di Latte Tigullio.Ad oggi lo skatepark dei giardini Govi è una di quelle realtà italiane che può vantare di essere frutto della collaborazione e la par-tecipazione di soggetti quali le istituzioni, gli operatori sociali e gli stessi fruitori nella definizione di una struttura caratterizzante uno spazio pubblico difficile da gestire.


LIKE EVERY ELEMENT OF URBAN FURNISHING, also a skatepark is a victim of the spontaneous phenomenon that pull people decorating its surfaces.Like it usually ascribes to the users of benches, spring horses, slides and swings, so the authorship of the masterpieces that appears on skateparks in their first year is attributed to skaters, bladers and bmxers.Obviously, crossing a playground and noticing something on the spring horse like: “the king was here”, “Carlos quiere tu hermana”, “Quieres pelear commigo ?”, “I fxxxing murxxr your family”, “xxxxxxxxxx”, “born to win”, and so on ..., we all figure to ourself at a under ten years old with a lollipop kind of child with a tagger in his hand.Even if nobody will ever claim the authorship of the works, what stands is the nth “masterpiece of spon-taneous comunication”, maybe a sign of his becaming part of the context.

The really strange fact is thet among many maxims and epithets nobody has never thought about some useful ones, like: “Wax?”, “Iron Maiden”, “Locals Only”, “Go fast “ and so on...

The skatepark in the Govi Gardens of Genova was born thanks to a project by an informal group of skaters and bladers during years 2003-2004 (Action 3 of the Youth Program of The European Commission).The project consists of a set of urban events, public exhibitions, dj sets, and distribution of promotional goods, followed by a second fase of meetings with the district council till the formation of a design process with the district itself (Municipio VIII Mdio Levante in Genova). The design process took us to the definition of a pool skatepark project, followed by the construction during summer of 2004 of the pubblic skatepark of the Govi Gardens ( first real Genovese skatepark), financied by the district (Municipio VIII Medio Levante).The presence of the skatepark started also a riqualification program of the gardens, from its opening during the nights to the organizatio of relevant events.About the impact on the local scene the park was a success.Even if it’ s smaller than the nearest ones like Groove of Sestri Levante and Trinity of Milano, the park defines a place in in the district of Genova that is recognized as a meeting point where people can skate and blade or simply admire these kind of “new sports”.One year ago the skatepark was restored and upgraded by Nelziskateramps, thanks to the contributes of the District (Muni-cipio VIII Medio Levante), of Consorzio Sociale Agora (cosset) and Latte Tigullio.Nowaday It’ s one of those italian urban reality that can be proud of being result of the collaboration and the partecipation of city Institutions, social operators and the users in the definition of a public space.
