WARNING Do not use holster with incompatible, improperly maintained, or modified firearm. Failing to follow this precaution could cause an unintended discharge and/or defeat of retention properties and result in property damage and/or serious injury or death.

SECTION 2.2LEVEL 1 : PASSIVE RETENTION ADJUSTMENT & FIT OPTIMIZATION

1. Loosen passive retention screw until there is a slight gap between bottom of screw head and surface of holster body.

2. Insert an UNLOADED firearm into the holster until the lock engages the trigger guard or locking surface. Where compatible, make sure the weapon mounted light is installed properly on the firearm before holstering. Make sure no part of the holster interferes with the trigger, safety features, magazine release, compatible accessories, or any other part of the firearm.

SECTION 2FIT & ADJUSTMENT INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING! Do not attempt to place a loaded firearm into a T-Series™ Holster without carefully following these instructions with an UNLOADED firearm. Failing to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.

SECTION 2.1PROPER FIREARM & HOLSTER PAIRING

Before you begin, look at the back of the holster body and confirm you have the right size and model holster designed to fit your firearm. This holster is only compatible with the firearms listed on the back of the holster. If in doubt, visit BLACKHAWK.COM or contact us at 1-406-284-3840 or [email protected].

SECTION 2.3LEVEL 2 & 3 : T-SERIES™ FUNCTION TEST

After properly adjusting the Level 1 passive retention, test the T-Series™ release several times for proper function. Confirm the following:

1. When holstering, the T-Series™ locking mechanism should engage with an audible “click.”

2. When seated inside the holster, the firearm should not rattle or move excessively.

3. When the T-Series™ release is pressed, it should not interfere with any part of firearm as it is removed from holster.

4. When using the Level 3 Duty holster, confirm the retention strap fully rotates to the forward position (when T-Series™ release is depressed). Manual operation is required to rotate the retention strap back to the locked position, blocking the back of the firearm slide.

WARNING If the holster interferes with any parts of the firearm, DO NOT USE IT. Interferences can cause an unintended discharge and/or interfere with retention mechanisms. Do not attempt to modify or alter any portion of the holster in any way or add any lubricants

or chemicals to make firearm fit.

1. Depress the T-Series™ release with your thumb while establishing master grip, keep your index finger flattened/straight and draw firearm. There should be little or no resistance at this point when attempting to remove the firearm.

2. Turn the passive retention screw clockwise to increase friction and adjust fit to your preference. Test the system by pulling up on the firearm (with T-Series™ release depressed) and repeat with small screw adjustments until the desired level of passive retention and fit is achieved.

NOTE: Tightening the passive retention screw too much can inhibit your draw or wear the finish off your firearm and weapon mounted light (when applicable).

5. When using an RDS holster, the dust cover should move to the forward position automatically once the firearm is drawn from the holster. Manual operation is required to rotate the dust cover to the closed position.

If preferred, the RDS Dust Cover can be removed from the holster. Using a flat blade screwdriver or similar tool, carefully apply gradual pressure between the outer surface of the dust cover and under side of the adjacent holster wall to dislodge the dust cover one side at a time.

SECTION 2.4AFTERMARKET FIREARM ACCESSORIES / MODIFICATIONS

WARNING Never use the T-Series™ Holster with a firearm modified with a trigger shoe, oversized sights, wide target trigger or hammer. Do not use with any other aftermarket firearm accessory unless first tested to ensure it does not affect safe performance of the firearm. Use with incompatible, modified, or improperly

installed accessories can cause an unintended discharge resulting in possible injury or death as well as potential damage to the firearm and/or holster.

Confirm the following:

1. With firearm unloaded, repeatedly test the holster to ensure accessories do not interfere with any retention devices or safe holstering and drawing from holster.

Since BLACKHAWK® cannot design or test holsters for compatibility with all possible aftermarket firearm accessories, the user assumes all risk and liability associated with use of firearm with any aftermarket accessories.

platforms can affect the proper functioning and retention properties of the holster.

WARNING Do not use holster if a mounting screw is missing. Using with less than all three screws can weaken the holster’s retention properties. Only use BLACKHAWK approved/supplied screws.

BLACKHAWK’S DUTY HOLSTER SPACER KIT:

To compensate for bulky body armor or varied hip-to-waist contours, BLACKHAWK’s Duty Holster Spacer Kit allows you to alter the amount of angle and distance away from your body.

NOTE: Do not use longer spacer kit mounting screws without the spacer. Doing so can damage your holster.

Your T-Series™ Holster adjusts on most mounting platforms to allow for individual preferences or department regulation. The holster is shipped in the vertical position and can be converted to either a “butt forward” or “muzzle forward” position as needed. When mounting your T-Series™ holster to the desired platform perform the following:

1. Align the holster mounting inserts on the back side of holster with desired holes on mounting platform to achieve desired position. Firmly hand-tighten all three mounting screws with hand screwdriver or with torque screwdriver set to 18 inch-lbs. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

2. Routinely check mounting screws for loosening and tighten if necessary.

WARNING Do not tighten mounting screws with a power tool or otherwise apply excessive force. Doing so can damage your holster.

WARNING Never use a T-Series Holster with aftermarket attachment platforms. Use with incompatible, modified, or improperly installed

SECTION 3.2MOUNTING QUICK DUAL RELEASE OR 2-SLOT BELT LOOP TO A BELT

Use your T-Series™ holster only with a durable and well-maintained belt specifically designed for carrying a firearm and holster. Officers should use a belt specifically designed for duty use. The Quick Dual Release (QDR) is designed to accommodate belts 1 ½" to 2 ¼" wide and the 2-Slot Belt Loop accommodates belts 1" to 1 ¾" wide. To mount your QDR or 2-Slot Belt Loop to a belt, follow these steps:

MOUNTING THE QUICK DUAL RELEASE PLATFORM:

1. Locate the two release buttons on the lower section of the platform. These buttons have a compound travel requiring them to rotate first and then slide inward. Applying pressure on the textured/grooved end of each button will allow a smooth and ergonomic release while maintaining the highest level of security against unintentional activation.

2. Simultaneously squeeze both release buttons inward and rotate the two platform halves to the open position.

3. Place the belt against the halve that has the Adjustment Bar. Ensure the top of the belt is seated firmly against inner surface of upper pivot and take note of the Adjustment Bar location.

4. The Adjustment Bar should be placed as close as possible to the belt edge (opposite of edge contacting the pivot) based on ¼" incremental slot positions. This may include removing and storing the Bar separately if using 2 ¼" width belt. Ensure the belt does not sit on top of the Adjustment Bar, as it will not allow the platform to close.

5. To remove the Adjustment Bar, squeeze the two exposed tabs on the backside of the platform. This can be accomplished with a small tool such as a screwdriver, coin, or similar tool by pushing

inward and down. It is possible to pop out one side at a time.

6. Final mounting to the belt can be conducted with the belt on or off the body. If the belt is already being worn, slightly loosen the belt to create an inch or two of separation between body and belt and slide the open end of platform down between your body and belt.

7. Close platform and ensure both locking buttons have fully returned to the locked position.

MOUNTING THE 2-SLOT BELT LOOP:

1. Start the free end of your belt through one side loop of the platform and pull through at least a few inches, then continue to guide the free end through opposite side loop. Slide to desired location on belt.

2. Ensure top of belt is seated firmly against the upper inside edges of belt channel.

WARNING In addition to ensuring no foreign materials interfere with the safe holstering and drawing of your firearm and functioning of your holster, make sure extra attention is made to keep loose clothing away from the inboard thumb mechanism and adequate clearance is kept at all times. Failure to do so may result in the loss of the holster’s retention and potential injury or death.

SECTION 3.3MOUNTING JACKET SLOT OR MID-RIDE BELT LOOP

Use your T-Series™ Holster only with a durable and well-maintained belt specifically designed for carrying a firearm and holster. Officers should use a belt specifically designed for duty use. The mid-ride can accommodate duty belts up to 2 ¼" wide and jacket slot belt loop can accommodate duty belts up to 2 ½" wide. To mount your Jacket Slot or Mid-Ride Belt Loop to a duty belt, follow these steps:

Failure to do so may result in the loss of the holster’s retention and potential injury or death.

SECTION 3.4MOUNTING TACTICAL HOLSTER PLATFORM TO A BELT

Use your T-Series™ Holster only with a durable and well-maintained belt specifically designed for tactical or duty use. To mount your tactical holster platform to a belt, follow these steps:

1. Attach platform to the belt using the hook and loop belt keepers. Spread the two straps apart along your waist to help with stability.

2. Attach both leg straps to your thigh and coxnnect the side-release buckles. Adjust the strap lengths as necessary.

3. For quick removal, the belt straps can be disconnected from the belt using the quick-disconnect swivel buckles.

WARNING In addition to ensuring no foreign materials interfere with the safe holstering and drawing of your firearm and functioning of your holster, make sure extra attention is made to keep loose clothing away from the inboard thumb mechanism and adequate clearance is kept at all times. SECTION 4.1HOLSTERING A FIREARM INTO HOLSTER

WARNING If equipped, always carry firearm with any manual safeties engaged. If firearm is not equipped with external safety selector, do not attempt to holster with a cartridge in chamber unless specifically trained by qualified instructor in holstering, carrying, and drawing firearms in this manner and have a need to do so. Never carry any gun with a round in chamber or in the cocked position unless trained to do so and the gun is designed to be carried this way.

When holstering:

1. Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction.

2. Make sure the holster is free from any kind of obstructions that could engage the trigger.

3. Always look at the holster when holstering until proficiency is gained. Civilians should never attempt to holster a loaded firearm without

looking at the holster unless proficient in this technique and properly trained by qualified instructor.

4. Never attempt to holster a firearm with your finger on the trigger or inside trigger guard.

5. Make sure the trigger, slide, and hammer do not catch on any part of the holster.

6. Place the firearm straight into holster until T-Series™ engages the trigger guard or locking surface. An audible “click” will be heard when the T-Series™ lock feature is properly engaged.

7. If any resistance or trouble seating the firearm is experienced, stop immediately and determine the cause of the problem.

WARNING Before attempting to place a handgun in a T-Series L3D, L2D RDS, or L3D RDS holster, ensure that the retention strap and/or dust cover is in the forward position. Failing to do so will prevent you from

holstering your handgun properly.

19

WARNING If misused, certain unavoidable design features of some holsters can engage the firearm’s trigger and cause an accidental discharge. Do not attempt to force the firearm at unnatural angles against the outside of the holster. Place the firearm directly into the holster, pay attention, and practice holstering for proficiency before using under stress.

SECTION 4.2CARRYING A FIREARM IN THE HOLSTER

WARNING No holster can completely secure the weapon from unauthorized removal or falling out during certain physical activities. It is the user’s responsibility to receive training in, follow, and regularly practice proper weapon retention techniques and safety precautions at all times during use. Secure the firearm in the holster with your hand during physical activity such as jumping, crawling, falling, climbing, running, or tumbling. Always ensure retention device(s) is/are engaged before engaging in such physical activity. Failing to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.

Perform the following precautions:

1. If equipped, always carry firearm with any manual safeties engaged.

2. Never carry a gun with a round in chamber or in the cocked position unless trained to do so and the gun is designed to be carried this way.

3. If the firearm is not equipped with an external safety selector, do not attempt to carry with a cartridge in the chamber unless specifically trained by qualified instructor in holstering, carrying, and drawing firearms in this manner; and have a need to carry in this manner.

WARNING The trigger on certain firearms is unavoidably accessible while seated in Light Bearing Holsters. Extreme caution must be used during a struggle to prevent an unauthorized person from accessing and pulling the trigger.

SECTION 4.3DRAWING FROM THE HOLSTER

Before drawing, make sure the T-Series™ release is free of dirt and other debris and the holster is functioning properly. Proper firearms handling requires you to place your trigger finger on the frame of your firearm as the firearm comes out of the holster. The placement of the T-Series™ finger groove is specifically designed to promote proper “safe master grip” on your firearm.

Perform the following steps:

1. Establish safe master grip on the weapon with your index finger extended straight along the frame of firearm.

2. The flat of your index finger will naturally align onto the T-Series™ finger groove. Keeping your finger straight, apply inward pressure with your thumb to disengage the T-Series™ lock feature

and drag the flat of your finger across the T-Series™ finger groove as the firearm is drawn.

WARNING Do not bend your index finger while drawing or place your finger on the trigger or in the trigger guard until ready to shoot. Placing your finger on trigger too soon can cause an unintended discharge and result in property damage and/or serious injury or death.

3. Draw the weapon with “safe master grip” and your finger will naturally align on the frame of the weapon above the trigger guard.

NOTE: It is extremely important to regularly practice drawing from the T-Series™ holster for proficiency.

SECTION 4.4PRACTICE FOR PROFICIENCY

Holsters should only be used by those who have received proper training in the safe handling of firearms. Before attempting live-fire exercises, it

Page 26: BLACKHAWK T-SERIESBLACKHAWK.COM to view all attachment platforms available). WARNING READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS ENTIRE MANUAL BEFORE USE. This manual contains important information about

21

is critical that you regularly practice drawing from and holstering into your T-Series™ holster with an unloaded firearm.

Before using in a duty setting, at a fast speed, or under stressful conditions, practice drawing, firing (live and dry), and holstering with your T-Series™ Holster until proficiency has been attained. Proficiency depends on the individual user’s experience and skill level but generally requires several hundred repetitions and a demonstrated ability to safely draw and holster a weapon quickly. Practice must include use under conditions of simulated stress and firearm retention techniques.

Once attained, proficiency must be maintained through frequent practice and training. BLACKHAWK® strongly recommends dry fire drills with an unloaded weapon as well as live fire exercises.

SECTION 5CARE INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING Failure to routinely inspect, test, and care for holster may prevent the firearm from properly deploying and/or defeat retention characteristics. It is critical to strictly follow these care instructions. Failing to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.

SECTION 5.1INSPECTING T-SERIES™ HOLSTER

Although your holster does not have a specific service life, no holster lasts forever. Your holster’s functionality and retention properties will diminish as the holster ages and is used. Therefore, you should test and inspect your holster frequently (at least monthly) and each time before use.

Perform the following during inspection:

1. Look for cracking, deformation, missing parts, delaminated material, and excessive wear.

2. Adjust passive retention screw as necessary.

3. Ensure platform mounting screws are securely tightened and replace missing screws immediately.

WARNING The screws on the L3D retention strap locking mechanism are factory tightened and should not be adjusted. Adjusting these screws could prevent the mechanism from functioning properly and/or diminish you holster’s retention capabilities.

4. Ensure holster and all retention mechanisms are free from dirt and other debris.

5. Check functionality of holster for proper fit, holstering, retention, release, and drawing as specified above.

WARNING This is a retention holster, not a storage device. This holster is not designed to keep firearms away from children or other unauthorized persons.

SECTION 5.2CLEANING/DECONTAMINATING YOUR T-SERIES™ HOLSTER

1. Routinely clean your T-Series™ Holster with warm soapy water, rinse with fresh water, and air dry.

2. Decontaminate your T-Series™ Holster with 10% solution of household bleach in fresh water.

3. Do not use any harsh, abrasive, or caustic solutions, or petroleum derivatives on your T-Series™ holster.

WARNING This is a retention holster, not a storage device. This holster is not designed to keep firearms away from children or other unauthorized persons during storage. When not in use, always keep guns locked and safely secured according to applicable local, state, and federal laws. Failing to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.

Store your holster indoors at room temperature. Do not expose it to excessive temperature, sunlight, or humidity for extended periods of time. Improper storage can lead to premature degradation of holster performance.

SECTION 6ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

BLACKHAWK® warrants your holster to be free from defect in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of sale. This warranty does not cover product or parts damaged or rendered defective due to accident, intentional damage, misuse, abuse, modification, neglect, normal wear and tear, improper storage, improper or unauthorized repair, use with incompatible firearms, modified firearms or firearms equipped with aftermarket accessories, or the failure to follow BLACKHAWK® warnings or care, use, maintenance, storage, or handling instructions.
