WEEDS INFORMATION SHEET BLACKBERRY Blackberry is one of the most widespread noxious weeds in NSW. A perennial plant producing long rambling canes with sharp re curved thorns. The pinkish-white flowers have 5 petals and numerous stamens. The tasty fruit are at- tractive to birds which assist in the spread of the plant. It can develop into very dense thickets which are a harbour for vermin such as rabbits, rats etc. Blackberry is an introduced plant originating from Europe, with no natural predators it has naturalised and is now one of the most widespread introduced weeds. Blackberry is a declared noxious plant in most areas of the state, which means that control requirements are enforceable under the Noxious Weed Act 1993. Blackberry is one of the most widespread noxious weeds in NSW. A perennial plant producing long rambling canes with sharp re curved thorns. The pinkish-white flowers have 5 petals and numerous stamens. The tasty fruit are at-tractive to birds which assist in the spread of the plant.
