What these Walls Would say

Cold and barren I am. I’ve felt this way ever since I’ve been in existence. Some of them would consider me a loner, useless for anything, really. On the other hand, I feel like I have a purpose, and if I had a finger, I still couldn’t put it on exactly what it could be. Noises now, loud noises have gathered my attention during the past few days. Temptation and curiosity get the best of me, but I’ve no neck to stretch forth and give in with. The minutes turn into hours and before I know it, days. My loneliness pro-longs itself. Without warning, the sky grows dark, there is thunder, and the ground begins to move. I have my eyes closed, I open them to a man who I notice sleeping. My demeanor suddenly changes for the better to have this man take up resi-dence in the heart of me. I hear out-side, weeping that is soon drowned out along with the sunlight by the sounds of stone scraping together. I have a feeling, a feeling that there is something different to this man. He is no resident, just a visi-tor. All at once in the midst of the darkness, light! I can see light. It is not sunlight. In this light, I can see the outline of another man who is very large in height. He sees the sleeping man. He smiles at him and without missing a beat, he speaks. “It is now the time to arise.” Now there are two men standing inside and it is far brighter than before. This time, the brightness is from the Son. The larger man pushes out through the stony entrance and exits. He waits. The other man leaves behind the sin-stained robes and never looks back. TALK SHOW HOSTS LIVE, ON KLID RADIO

KLID Radio in Poplar Bluff was the first radio station in Poplar Bluff to air talk show hosts and now the first to have talk show hosts broadcast their shows on KLID. That occurred on Thursday, April 17th.

Sam Bushman, syndicated talk show host and owner of Liberty Roundtable Network in Utah, with cohost Curt Crosby and talker Vincent Fenelli also on Liberty Roundtable and on GCN, which covers about 900 stations, did their live broadcasts from 8 a.m. til 11 a.m.

James Edwards, talk show host and author of Memphis, TN, made a surprise visit and was a guest on their shows. Another surprise guest was Lee Burton, the editor of Black River Times. Sunny Skidmore and Jerry Evans of KLID were also asked to give some comments, a first for them on a national network.

The most unusual thing about Sam is that he was born blind and works very competently with electronics. He even has a weekend show about the latest in electronics. These gentlemen were on their way to Springfield, Illinois for a meeting. They are part of a grass-roots organization going to Washington, D.C. On September 18, Constitution Day, along with many others to the Press Club to present the U.S. Senators, Representatives, President and Vice President with their resolution. The organization, Constitutional Sheriffs, Peace Officers Association, started out west and is spreading across the country. Their goal is to have our federal officials sign the resolution to promise to follow the Constitution as we know they do not many times. You can find out more on their website: cspoa.com.

Cane Creek Community ClubOn April 9th the Cane Creek Community Club met for their monthly meeting at Twin Towers with Nancy Wujcik as hostess.

Our meeting opened with members reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. Roll Call was to tell something about your favorite bird. Several used the blue bird witch is our state bird.

Devotional by Nancy Wujcik was “going to the birds” Early bird gets the worn, wise as an Owl, watch like a Hawk, something to Crow about and the Humming bird. The program, “The Eastern Blue Bird” was given by Glenda Phillips.

The treasurer and secretary reports were given and approved. Members were asked to bring canned goods to benefit Child Concern to the May meeting. Meeting was closed repeating our Club Collect. Closing prayer was giving by Marie Boxx.

Ruth Anderson will be hostess for the May 14th meeting at Twin Towers at 11 A.M. Irma Epps will bring the program. Roll Call will be to name your favorite garden plant.

THE AGEE CoMMuNiTy ClubThe Agee Community Club met on Thursday, April 10th, 2014. Nadine Johnson was hostess this month. The group met for a noon lunch at Ryan’s. Cathy Womack, club president opened the meet-ing with the ladies repeating the club motto. Jeanie Figgins gave the invocation. Nickey Orton read the devotional from Matthew 28:1-6 about the crucifixion. Roll call was by answering the question, “spring has sprung ladies, what is your favorite flower?” Jeanie Figgins read the secretary and treasurers report, there was no new or old business at this time.

Nadine Johnson shared the article on the big changes that are planned for Big Springs in 2015, from the Journal Banner, and an article on what text messaging is doing to people, from the Internet.

Nickey Orton read an article about the National Park Services by J. Horace McFarland.

Jeanie Figgins gave each lady a copy of the Black River Times, and read a short story about the history of umbrellas, titled, “What’s up with umbrellas?” by an unknown author.

Nadine Johnson brought a photo album from her trip up to Put-in-Bay, and showed an article she had about a ship that was

turned into a house, and had photos of what the inside looks like. The ship was the Benson Ford freighter from the Ford Motor Company. Thomas Edison had been a passenger. The ship had been converted into a vacation home perched solidly above Lake Erie on Put-in-Bay Island. The home interior was designed by Henry Ford. The ship was decommissioned in 1981 after nearly 50 years of service.

She then shared an article with beauti-ful flowers and positive quotes for living called the positive side of life from the internet.

Colored Easter eggs were handed out to the ladies, which were filled with candy. The door prize winner had the egg that had a paper inside that said winner. Door prize was won by Cathy Womack.

Nadine Johnson then showed the ladies how you can take the eggs panty hose comes in (or used to) and use scraps of fabric and rick rack to decorate them for Easter.

Magazines were shared with the ladies to whoever would want to read them. Hostess for May will be Nickey Orton. The ladies dismissed with the club collect. 3’ high dieffenbachia flowers were offered to the ladies.

A MOTHER’S LOVEwritten by Douglas Hurst 2014

When a twinkling in a mother’s eye you know she cares.

She takes care of you when you are sick.

She spoils you rotten when you have no money.

A mother’s love for her son, daughter is pure.

She cries for you when you are away.

A mother’s love is hard to find with a tear in her eye.

A mother does care for her children.

THAT IS WHAT A MOTHER’S LOVE IS.

WHEN you PRAyPray specifically. Avoid generalizations such as “be with them” since Jesus promised that “I am with you always” we don’t need to pray for his pres-ence. Don’t ask God merely to “bless them” ask for more than that. Don’t use words that you don’t use every-day (think of it this way, you’re talking to your Dad who can give you anything and everything you ask for because he is the King of the universe, remembering that he knows what is best for you, just ask for what you want and don’t hold back, he knows if you really need it, if it would be in your best interest.)

Now ask God for what you want, tell God precisely what you want him to do. He will answer, but some-times his answer is no or no, not now. We all want him to answer yes and right now, but

that’s not always the way it is. God knows best and however he answers it will be His will that will be done.

When the crowds brought a blind man to Jesus, our Lord asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He asks the same questions of us.

Jesus teaches us to “ask, and it will be given to you” “ask and keep on asking.” The Lord of the universe “knows what you need before you ask him” the God who is love wants to do what is best for you.

As we continue to pray, we continue to submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit so he can mold us into the character of Christ. The more we pray, the more we are empow-ered, led, and matured. When we pray, God gives us what we ask for or whatever is best. In the case of physi-

cal illness, he will heal us medically, miraculously, or eter-nally. Sometimes he uses physicians and medical means, so we should pray for him to guide our doctors and other care providers. Sometimes he inter-venes in supernatural ways, so we should pray for such grace. Sometimes he heals us eternally by taking us from our fallen, dis-eased bodies into his perfect paradise.

Almighty God of the universe I humble myself before you and ask you to forgive me for my sins, and God I want to thank you for your blessings that I have been blessed with and I thank you for answering my prayers Lord. I thank you for sending your Son (Jesus) to die on the cross for my sins that I might have ever-lasting life. I pray this in Jesus name, AMEN

MuSLIM bROTHERHOOD LAuNCHES pOLITICAL pARTY IN AMERICA

The Muslim Brotherhood is launching a politi-cal party in America for the purpose of electing Muslims and influencing legislation that is favor-able to Islam. This devel-opment should come as no surprise: the number of mosques in the United States has escalated 74 percent since 2000. The government of Turkey is building a $100 mil-lion mega mosque in Maryland. There are now 66 mosques in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

According to a recent sur-vey, 98 percent of mosque leaders say Muslims should be involved in American institutions, and 91 percent agree that Muslims should be involved in politics. We should expect to see a growing number of Muslim candidates for office, and a growing number of Muslims who will support them finan-cially.

Islam is not the only non-Christian movement to make headlines today,

as this is “Humanism at Yale Week.” Monday was “Ask an Atheist” day; Tuesday was “Catholics & Humanists Together”; today features “Atheism, Storytelling, and Advice for Christians Who Wish to Talk to Non-Christians.” Chris Stedman, Assistant Humanist Chaplain at Harvard University, is the speaker. Ironically, both Yaleand Harvard were founded by Christian ministers to train Christian ministers.

“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon

us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with

us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts

and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to

our hearts.” - Washington Irving

Folks... These Senators voted to let the UN take OUR guns. They need to lose their next election. We have been betrayed. 46 Senators Voted to Give your 2nd Amendment Constitutional Rights to the U.N.

53 TO 46 VOTE

The U.N. Resolution 2117 lists 21 points dealing with firearms control, but perhaps of most interest is point number 11: “CALLS FOR MEMBER STATES TO SUPPORT WEAPONS COLLECTION, DISARMAMENT ---” HOORAY - 53-46 vote– The U.S. Senate voted against the U.N. resolution.

Now, Which 46 Senators Voted to Destroy Us? Well, let their names become known!! See below. If you vote in one of the states listed with these 46 “legis..traitors”… vote against them.

In a 53-46 vote, the Senate narrowly passed a measure that will stop the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

The Statement of Purpose from the Bill reads: “To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.” The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S. and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry, now get this, on all private guns and ammo.

Astonishingly, 46 out of our 100 United States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power.

Here are the 46 senators who voted to give your rights to the U.N.

SOCIAL STATE ANYONEThere are 8 levels of control that must be obtained

before you are able to create a social state.

The first is the most important.

1. Healthcare – Control healthcare and you control the people.

2. Poverty – Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.

3. Debt – Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.

4. Gun Control – Remove the ability to defend them- selves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.

5. Welfare – Take control of every aspect of their lives. (Food, Housing, and Income)

6. Education – Take control of what people read and listen to - take control of what children learn in school.

7. Religion – Remove the belief in the God from the Government and schools.

8. Class Warfare – Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.

ANY OF THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

abortion: Women’s health has been one of the top issues around the country for the past few years and Colorado will take center stage in the abortion debate come November. That’s because voters will con-sider a “personhood” ballot measure that would change state law to define a fertil-ized egg as a person, a move that would not only limit access to abortion but certain forms of birth control as well. No state has successfully passed a personhood initia-tive – even voters in Mississippi rejected a measure in 2011 – but Colorado, home to leading social conservative group Focus on the Family, could become the first this fall.

Marijuana: Colorado is the first state to experiment with legalizing recreational marijuana use; as such, their experience will help guide the emerging national debate over pot. If opponents are able to galvanize enough support to undermine the law, it could significantly set back the legalization movement and chasten other states that are considering liberalizing their drug laws. To be sure, Amendment 64 – the voter-approved pot initiative Coloradans passed in 2012 – is a constitutional amend-ment, so the state legislature can’t simply repeal it. However, there are plenty of ways a Republican legislature and gover-nor could chip away at legalization. They could pass onerous regulations, tinker with the taxation levels or support con-servative counties like El Paso that have banned retail marijuana dispensaries. Many Republicans have already been grasping for ways to attack the law.

The list of companies that have stopped selling firearms and ammunition to law enforcement agencies in states

HILLS, RIDGES AND HOLLERSPaul Woods

“Of all the rights of w

omen, the greatest is to be a m

other.” - Lin Yutang

As I sit down at the typewriter, I cannot keep from mentioning what a busy month that April has been. It seems like more things have hap-pened this month than most of the previous months this year. Probably the weather has had something to do with it. Ya think?

First off a lot of time has been spent getting our old house ready to rent, after the previous renter moved off and left one big mess. It finally got cleaned up, but the police haven’t been able to catch up with the lady and her son who moved out leaving a lot of debt to me and a local furni-ture and appliance rental firm.

Next our church, the West Side Church of God celebrated our 50th birthday the final Sunday in April. Being one of the first board of trustee members and the only one of them still alive, I was chosen to give a historical review. This caused several nights with little or no sleep trying to figure out what God would like for me to remember and what I should “as they say Let a sleeping dog lie.” Hopefully, the dog wasn’t disturbed.

The recent articies in the Times have brought back a lot of memories to me. I really enjoyed the one about the pearls in mussels found in Black River, being an old river rat, being raised almost on the edge of the bank of the river, I and my brothers spent a lot of time on the river and some of it was diving for mussels.

We found several shells that had poorly formed pearls but none that were perfect enough to make any money off of them, the button industry was still going and there was a market for the shells and it didn’t take too long to boil them and get them open to get rid of the meat and search for pearls, the meat made good hog and fish food.

There were several different kinds of mussels in the river. We did quite a bit of diving in six to eight feet of water as that was where the pearl-bearing species would bed up and you could get a bucket full at those spots when you found them. We never made much money with the shells but it didn’t take much mon-ey to go to the show on Saturday to watch your favorite cowboy and get a box of popcorn and a soda.

See, we did more than hunt and fish while growing up. Berry pick-ing also provided movie money as Dad paid us 10 cents a gallon which wasn’t bad as we ended up eating the berries eather in a cobbler or jelly during the winter.

Our first hummingbird showed up April 10 at 6:25 p.m. With all the cold weather that has plagued our area this spring, the lateness of their arrival didn’t surprise me, my wife put out a couple of feeders late in March to make sure we were ready when the first scout appeared, usu-ally the first one that shows also disappeared for a few days but this time it stayed and in a couple of days a few more arrived and they made themselves at home.

It looks like it will be a busy sum-mer keeping the feeders full. Last year she had 13 feeders and most had to be filled every day.

I wanted to have a schedule of bass and crappie tournaments for this issue but some of the tournaments people haven’t received confirma-tion of their chosen dates so the list wasn’t available for me this month. I

will report them as I get them.

In the past it was difficult to get any information from the event spon-sors as I think that all they are inter-ested in is getting the entry fees and hit the road for home.

Some of the tournament sponsors get their results published, but the local newspaper can afford the phone bills as they probably have a flat rate for their telephones.

As the weather warms the URC coon hunt competition gets heated up also.

Knobel, Ark. has one of their events May 3rd with a show and hunt.Reyno, Ark. has a show and hunt May 9th and another on May 16th. Ravenden Spring, Ark. has a hunt May 17th.

The schedule for Missouri events in May is a full one with an event that is in easy driving distance of our area almost weekly.

Doniphan has a show and hunt May 3rd.

Patton also has a show and hunt on May 3rd. Marble Hill has a show and hunt on May 3rd also.Arcadia’s first hunt of the season is May 10th. A show is also scheduled.Kinder has a busy May 10th with a TEP class at 4 p.m. And a show at 5:30 p.m. Followed by a water race and hunt at 8:30 p.m.Moody has a show and hunt on May 10th.Kinder has another show, water race and hunt on May 16th. Daisy has their first show and hunt on May 17th.Poplar Bluff will show and hunt May 24th in a MCHF event.Kinder has their third event of the month on May 31rd, a show, water race and hunt.

Thanks to all the favorable comments I’ve received by continuing the col-umn. It’s made possible by the ad-vertisers so shop with them and tell them you appreciate their support.

That’s all until next month PAUL WOODS

GAToRS oN THE RoAd

With warm weather here and hot weather on the way soon, there will be more of what I call “Gators” on the roadways.

I am a retired truck driver with way too many miles on the road in forty eight states and parts of Canada. I have seen my share of gators on the roads. That is what I and a lot of drivers of my era called the rubber and parts of tires that gets on the roads mostly in the summer-time. When the temperature gets hot the pavement gets hot and tires on vehicles start getting hotter.

Some of the reasons being defective tires, improper tire inflation and improper tire maintenance. From my experience of many miles on the roadways of this great nation, they seem to multiply in hot weather, or when you go to the southern states, there seems to be more of them. The “gators” can be the cause of a lot of problems. Like accidents, vehicle problems, they can be dangerous they are mean and ornery they can do a lot of damage to vehicles and have even been known to kill people.

My advice to any one encountering these on roadways is try to avoid running over them or hitting them or being hit by flying gators that

may come off a moving vehicle. If somebody hits one in front of you it may fly up and hit your vehicle and cause a lot damage. They have been known to come through windshields and injure or kill people.

That is why we have called them gators, they are big, dangerous, mean and can do a lot of damage to a vehicle, they can injure or kill. Gators” Ted Burton

SHE puTS HIS HEAD ON THE CHOppING bLOCKAlan Simpson, the Senator from Wyoming, calls senior citizens the ‘Greediest Generation’ as he com-pared “Social Security” to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats.

Here’s a response in a letter from PATTY MYERS in Montana ... I think she is a little ticked off! She also tells it like it is! Oh, so-o-o true!

Hey, Alan, let’s get a few things straight!!!!!

1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole (tit) for FIFTY YEARS.

2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).

3. My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in ‘an inter-est bearing account’ for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turn-ing Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would make Bernie Madoff proud.

4. Recently, just like Lucy and Charlie Brown, you and “your ilk” pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retire-ment from age 65 to age, 67. NOW, you and your “shill commission” are proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN.

5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from day one, and now “you morons” pro-pose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because “you idiots” misman-aged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal our money from Medicare to pay the bills.

6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why? Because you “incompetent Knuckleheads” spent our

money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt. To add insult to injury, you label us “greedy” for calling “Foul” to your incompetence.

Well, Captain meathead, I have a few questions for YOU:

1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?

2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?

3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?

4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or as usual, have you exempt-ed yourself and your political cronies?

It is you, Captain meathead, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the “greedy” ones. It is you and your fellow nutcase thieves who have bankrupted America and sto-len the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers.

And for what? Votes and your job and retirement security at our expense, you lunk-headed, leech.

That’s right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole pur-pose of advancing your pathetic, politi-cal careers. You know it, we know it, and you know that we know it. And you can take that to the bank, you miserable Knuckleheads. NO, I did not stutter.

P.S. And stop calling Social Security benefits “entitlements”. WHAT AN INSULT!!!! I have been paying in to the SS system for 45 years “It’s my money” -give it back to me the way the system was designed and stop patting yourself on the back like you are being generous by doling out these monthly checks.

Define celibacy

celibacy can be a choice in life, or a condition imposed by cir-cumstances.

While attending a Marriage Weekend, frank and his wife ann listened to the instruc-tor declare, “it is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other.”He then addressed the

men.

“can you name and describe your wife’s favorite flow-er?” frank leaned over, touched ann’s arm gently, and whispered, “Gold Medal-all-Purpose, isn’t it?”

and thus began frank’s life of celibacy.
