Service Policy

It is the fastest and top level B/W product, and to expand penetration into full-scale commercial printing domain, it is targeted to secure the quality required for the market. To realize this, requirements and actual usage condition of the CP users is to be fed back to BEU based on the customer data of the bizhub PRO 1050 series.

<Priority Measure>

Service maintenance agreement: Non-hard profitability increasing measures Wide variety of option configuration is assumed.

We will provide necessary service cost information to set the above mentioned service cost at sales company side. Through these actions, we target to expand sales chance by clarification of print cost and increase non-hard profit by maintenance agreement of value added options.

Deployment of ORU (Operator Replaceable Unit) Concept Now under discussion about the deployment of ORU concept on bizhub PRO 1200/1200P/1051 with marketing and service side at sales companies in collaboration with Product Planning Division.

Service Training / Educational bizhub PRO 1200/1200P/1051 is the fastest flagship machine in BW MFP for the purpose of maintaining and enlarging the market developed by bizhub PRO 1050 series. Accordingly, classroom training is planned for sales companies and distributors as basic training policy for this product.

Spare Parts related The necessary measures to respond to spares parts issues will be conducted based on the analysis of parts delivery achievement ratio on 1050/1050e. Also, we will conduct adequate pre-adjustment with major sales companies, including sales strategy (incl. ORU deployment), to achieve parts delivery achievement ratio to be more than 92% for PP products from product launch.

Initial Quality Control Program

Target is to make stable its product quality by managing and improving initial quality. Because of this activity, product reliability does not only improve within initial stage, but also achieve the target service profit. In addition to that, improve our customer (end users and dealers) satisfaction.

1.st Support Stage

Outline of activity

The 1st support stage is for six months from the earliest date of product launching among BUS, BEU and BJ. Depending on the product quality status, the period may be extended.

During this period, PP Support Dept. 2 strengthens the cooperation system with the sales companies and BT internal organizations, and focuses on collection and correction of problems.

Tool Outline Up to Remarks IQR Sales companies report one

problem by one for all out-of-box problems at the time of machine installation and also the problem occurred within one week after machine installation.

After receiving a report, PP Support Dept. 2 makes a reply within 24 hours. (for report with ‘Problem at Installation’ - ‘Yes’)

January 2010 After the date written left, IQR reporting will be closed. Note: Depending on the product quality status, the period may be extended

PER Sales companies use PER only for critical problems that they judge escalation to PP Support Dept. 2 is necessary, after having clarified the conditions.

No specific time limit

R&I Sales companies use R&I when information related to product, manual, training, parts or other is necessary.


For the request regarding specification change, clearly state if it is for the current model or future models.

Actions for Out-of-Box Problems

Sales companies are requested to report every out-of-box problem to PP Support Dept. 2 immediately after each occurrence.

Please use CSES IQR installation report for communication. During the 1st stage, please report machines with out-of-box problems

immediately. To check the condition and collect field data, please output the lists (image related,

counter, etc.) and attach them on each report. If any problem is seen on the image, please also attach image samples taken

before and after the corrective action on the site. The samples should be the ones show clearly the problem symptom.

PP Support Dept. 2 makes a first reply within 24 hours (business day) after receiving each report from sales companies.

PP Support Dept. 2 also informs sales companies whether it is necessary or not to send back any parts for problem analysis.

Actions for Initial Failures In case of problem occurred within one week after installation of the product, it should be reported with IQR Service Call on CSES attention to PP Support Dept.2.

During the 1st stage, please report initial failure immediately as IQR Service Call on CSES

Other actions are the same with Out-of-Box Problems Note: Above mentioned "Problem occurred within one week" doesn't contain

incidental jam and errors in operation caused by users. 2.nd Support Stage Outline of activity

The 2nd support stage is for six months after the end of the 1st support stage. Depending on the product quality status, the period may be extended.

During this period, PP Support Dept. 2 focuses on verification of effectiveness of the corrective actions implemented against problems during the 1st support stage.

The field support stage ends by the end of the 2nd stage. After that, each sales company takes the leading role in the local support activities.

Service preparation guideline Purpose of this document This guideline should be a help at your side to prepare your service and support activities based on the contained information. It provides you with a collection of valuable information as well as with an overview of already fixed procedures towards and from European HQ. Please adapt your processes and procedures accordingly in order to achieve an optimal support performance. Additionally this guide is structured as a reference book just in case that some information is needed later on. CS Remote Care (CSRC) The CS Remote Care is a system that manages the main body by sending and receiving various kinds of the management data of the main body between the main body and the CS Remote Care centre computer through the phone line, E-mail, or WebDAV server. It enables the main body to call the centre computer, and the centre computer to inquire regularly the main body for various data. The data handled by the CS Remote Care can be classified into the 3 following groups. a. Data that allow you to grasp the use conditions of the main body, such as the total count and the PM count. b. Data that give us the general information of when and how often an abnormality occurred with the main body. c. All sorts of adjustment data

Firmware updating procedure (ISW In-System Writer) This is an operation in which a control program stored in the flush ROM that is built in each control board in the copier is rewritten with the board built in the copier main body. Conducting the ISW allows the version up of control program without changing the board and the installation of the up to date program when replacing the board.

A) ISWTrns This is a software for Windows to rewrite the copier flush ROM and is used for rewriting programs (data transfer) with the copier main body and the PC connected with a parallel cable or the USB cable. B) USB memory ISW • Create the PRO_M1200 folder directly under the USB memory route. • Several firmwares can be saved to a folder. However 24 files is the maximum it can display on the touch panel. Also, 2 byte font cannot be displayed. • Maximum 40 letters for a file name. • The folder structure is common to 1200P/1051 C) Internet ISW

"Internet ISW" is a system to operate the ISW by the main body automatically receiving firmware from the program server, using Web browser, main body operation panel to direct the ISW. ISW can be operated at the customer facility without carrying the program by using the Internet ISW from the main body operation panel or Web browser.

Mail Remote Notice System "Mail remote notification system" is a system that allows you to obtain a list print which can be output by the main body using the Internet mail (E-mail). Using this system dispends not only with printing the list on paper but also visiting the users. Send an E-mail with a simple keyword to the main body to receive the list prints from the main body by E-mail.

Remote Panel This is a function to refer and also operate the operation panel through browser on PC.
