Trust News_ Finally a summer worth staying home for!Our new beach volleyball courts have been enjoyed by a large number of visitors including the children on our ever-popular Megacamps summer scheme. Regular users of the Brentwood Centre will be pleased to hear our improvement plan continues into the autumn, with a total makeover of the gym. More than 70 new pieces of equipment will start to arrive any day to replace the existing machinery and the gym is being designed to make the most of the space. This work represents a considerable investment by the Trust and is part of our on-going commitment to ensuring the borough has good quality facilities that are accessible to all. With more than half a million visitors and 500 clubs regularly using our venues each year we hope we are on the right track. Our next big event on the social calendar is the traditional Fireworks Night on Saturday 2 November. This is always a fun evening and we look forward to seeing you there.Kind Regards,

Simon Hughe sChairmanBrentwood Leisure Trust

The Masters section of the club caters for adult swimmers from age 18 upwards, and covers a range of different ages and abilities. It includes triathletes and open water specialists wanting to improve their speed and stamina. The main Masters training session is on a Monday evening, but several of the swimmers also train alongside the regular squads at other times. Some of the Masters swimmers also compete on behalf of the club and one of the club’s swimmers had recent success in the 50m and 100m Freestyle events at the Essex Masters Championships.

Brentwood Swimming Club has been running for over 30 years from the Brentwood Centre in Doddinghurst Road and has launched hundreds of local swimmers into their aquatic careers including London 2012 Olympic swimmer Roberto Pavoni. The club runs in partnership with the Brentwood Leisure Trust and is the next step up from their successful swim scheme. The club is for young swimmers who want to improve and test their skills in a competitive environment, or to maintain fitness and enhance what they have already learnt with regular training.

In addition, some of the young girls move onto the Brentwood Synchronised Swimming Club which is a mixture of dancing and swimming. If you are 8 years or above then you may be interested in trying our two free taster sessions. The girls have already achieved great results at competitions, and in March entered an east region competition where they achieved top places, and were then selected to swim for the regional team. This last year we have taken a few of the girls for professional grading which allows them to compete at the Nationals in Gloucester where the GB team is selected.

Club Focus: Brentwood Swimming Club

If you are interested in joining Brentwood Swimming Club, please email [email protected] For more info on the Synchronised Swimming Club, please contact Lisa 07958 437351 or Amy 07852 900828.

breNtwooD mma Brentwood MMA is part of Kime Ki Martial Arts Academy and we have classes in MMA running at the Brentwood MMA Centre. We train and teach every aspect that we can in our MMA classes. We target fitness, techniques, speed and endurance. We also encourage goal setting however, each student trains at their own level and we have a range of ages from 17 to 47 year old students.Recently some of our students have been taking part in a new competition called Senjo. These competitions are aimed at anyone wishing to gain experience in the ring or cage however do not wish to compete against experienced fighters. Each competitor is matched against someone from another gym or academy who has the same experience. Some of our more serious students are entering the Ringmasters competition in September.

Anyone is welcome to train at our MMA club so if you wish to have a try please contact Pete on 07534 394789

The Brentwood Barbell Club has gone from strength to strength since moving into its new home at the Brentwood Centre. July saw the club host

the British Drug Free Powerlifting Association Four Nations Team Championships (England won!) and they have just finished an extension

which has doubled their floor space. Furthermore, the club has aquired more equipment including official London 2012 weight plates & Olympic bars plus

top of the range strongman equipment such as a yoke, carry logs and a lifting log.

If you have any questions regarding the Barbell club and training at the venue contact Dave on 07950 501897 or ‘like’
