    Beore using your vacuum, make sure that the dirttank is in the locked position and that both lters(pre-motor and post-motor) are in place. Do not

    operate your vacuum without these lters.

    The rotating oor brush continues to rotate whiletools are in use. To reduce the risk o inury rommoving parts, always move the cleaner with the

    carrying handle at the back o the cleaner. Always place vacuum

    cleaner on oor with handle in upright position when using tools.Never place your ngers under the cleaner when it is running.Never place poweroot on urniture or uneven suraces. Do notplace vacuum cleaner close enough to obects to pull them intorotating brush.

    The foor brush will continue to rotate while you useyour vacuum or above foor cleaning. To preventcarpet damage, do not lean on the vacuum or let thepoweroot tilt orward.

    While vacuuming, certain carpets and low humidity conditions maygenerate small static discharges. The discharges are entirely harm-less and are not associated in any way with the main power supply.

    b2-Attah vauu h,p & t1. Attach the extension wand clip by insert-ing the clip into the back of the vacuum baseand twisting clockwise. Mount the extensionwand (with crevice tool inside) on the backof the vacuum.

    2. nap the upper cable wrap into the socketlocated above the extension wand clip. Wrapthe power cable around the cable wrap clips.

    3. Attach the Twist n nap hose by liningup the tabs on the cuff with the correspond-ing notches on the back of the vacuum.Twist the Twist n nap hose clockwise tolock the hose into place.

    4. lide the end of the hose wand into thehose wand base, and fold the hose over theupper hose wrap.

    6. The Turborush Tool (for select models)secures to the back of the handle in themount above the Upper Hose Wrap.

    B AssemblyThe only tool youll need to assembleyour vacuum cleaner is a Phillips headscrewdriver.

    b1-Attah han t vauu1. ocate the vacuum handle and remove thescrew packet taped to the handle. The screwpacket contains two screws of equal length.

    2. tand the vacuum upright and slide the

    base of the handle firmly into the openingat the top of the vacuum body.

    3. Check to be sure the handle is fitted tothe vacuum body. f there are any gapsbetween the handle and the vacuum base,continue to push the handle firmly into thebase until the handle is flush.

    4. nsert the two screws from the screwpacket into the existing holes. Push eachscrew firmly into the hole before beginningto secure the screw with a Phillips head

    screwdriver. f the handle is aligned properlyon the vacuum base, you should be able topush the screw almost entirely into the holeuntil only the screw head is visible. Tightenthe screw with a Phillips head screwdriverby rotating the screw clockwise.

    Do not plug in your cleaner until you havecompletely assembled it per the ollowinginstructions and are amiliar with all instructionsand operating procedures.

    C OperationsPw wthThe Power switch is located on the left sideof the vacuum. Push the rocker switch ON() to vacuum, and OFF (O) when cleaningis complete.

    c1-Han ptnPress the handle release pedal with yourfoot to place your vacuum into one of threecleaning positions.

    1.Upright For storage and above floorcleaning with tools.

    2.Normal cleaning Press handle releasehousehold floor cleaning tasks.

    3.Low cleaning With the vacuum in

    normal cleaning position, press handlerelease pedal again, use for reaching underlow furniture such as tables, chairs or beds.

    c2-Hght ajutntThere are five height settings available forvarious floor surfaces. Turn the dial on thefoot of the cleaner to the desired setting.

    Lowest setting For low pile carpet or barefloors. To pick up debris, it may be necessaryto move up one setting.

    Medium setting For medium pile carpet.

    Highest setting For high pile and mostshag carpet.

    1. Raise handle to upright position.

    2. Grasp the hose wand and separate fromthe hose wand base.

    3. Attach tools by firmly pushing ontovacuum hose or extension wand

    Crevice tool Use in tight narrow spaces.

    Dusting Brush Use brush to dustfurniture, blinds, books, lamps, shelves andbaseboards.

    Extension wand Use with desiredattachment for a longer reach.

    TurboBrush Tool (select models only) Use rotating brush action for small flatareas such as stairs and cushions. Pressgently down and pull toward you in araking motion; too much pressure willcause the brush to stop rotating.

    ftYour vacuum comes with two postmotor filters, one Febreze scented and theother fragrance free. The fragrance freefilter is located in the filter tray under thedirt container (see page 7, D2 #2). Forscented cleaning, remove the filter from

    the filter tray and insert the Febreze filter.For optimal cleaning performance, checkthe pre-motor filter at least once a monthand clean or replace as needed.

    The inner cyclone filter is located in the dirtcontainer. Follow instructions on page 7 formaintenance and care.

    Hair, string and small obects can block the vacuum hoseor tools. Check them occasionally or obstructions.

    Beore cleaning under low urniture, check area irstor obects that might harm the unit or block thevacuum hose.

    Your vacuum eatures a Quick Release cable wrap.To remove the power cable quickly and easily, rotatethe upper cable wrap toward the loor and slip thepower cable o the upper and lower cable wraps.

    Pw a tagWhen you have finished using your vacuum, return it to the upright position andstore the power cable.

    1. Turn vacuum cleaner off.

    2. Unplug power cable by grasping thepolarized plug (NOT the cable) anddisconnect from socket.

    3. Wrap power cable around cable wrapslocated on the back of the vacuum.

    4. Clip molded plug to power cable tosecure.

    c3-ept t tankThe dirt tank needs to be emptied whenthe dirt reaches the Full line on the sideof the tank.

    1. Unplug cleaner from electrical socket.2. Remove the asy mpty dirt tank fromthe vacuum base by pushing the tankrelease button.

    3. Hold the dirt tank over a garbage contain-er. Press the bottom lid release button on theback of the dirt tank to empty dirt.

    4. Mount the asy mpty dirt tank back onthe vacuum base.

    D Care & StorageTo maintain maximum cleaning performance,the following maintenance steps must beperformed:

    n tCheck the inner cyclone filter after everyuse for build up or clogs. For optimalperformance, it is recommend to cleanthe inner cyclone filter after every use.

    Use only genuine replacementfilters in your vacuum.

    1. Unplug the cleaner from electrical socket.

    2. Remove the asy mpty dirt tank.

    3. With the bottom of asy mpty dirttank open, reach up into the dirt cup andgrasp the cyclone. Twist the filter cycloneclockwise to unlock and pull straight down

    to remove.

    4. ocate the snaps on the top of the filtercyclone. queeze the clips and pull up toremove from the handle.

    5. eparate the cyclone from the filter bypulling them apart.

    6. Remove the filter screen, brush off anylarge debris and rinse under water. Make surethe screen is dry before replacing.

    7. The filter is washable and can be rinsed

    under water. t is best to tap off large debrisprior to rinsing under water. Make sure thefilter is dry before replacing.

    8. Replace the filter cyclone following thesesteps.

    a. Replace screen on filter

    b. Fit together the filter and the uppercyclone by setting it in place

    c. lide the filter onto the tool handleand make sure it clips into place

    d. ine up the arrow on the back of thedirt container to the arrow on the filtercyclone and slide the filter cyclone intothe tank

    e. Twist counterclockwise to lockinto place

    the lid to help guide the innercyclone into the grooves at thetop o the tank.

    1. Unplug the cleaner from electrical socket.

    2. To access the post-motor filter, removethe filter tray located below the asy mpty

    dirt tank.3. When the filter becomes dirty, remove thefilter from the bottom of the tray and cleanor replace the filter. (Tip: flip the filter trayover to access the filter).

    d3-chkng tatng uh an v tYou should check your vacuum cleanersrotating floor brush and drive belt regularlyfor wear or damage. You should also cleanthe brush and brush ends of strings, hair andcarpet fibers. These can wrap around thebrush and hamper its ability to effectively

    clean your carpet. Also remove any debristhat has accumulated under the brush cover.

    1. Unplug cleaner from electrical socket.

    2. Place handle in low position and turnvacuum cleaner over so bottom side is up.

    3. Remove the seven screws with a Phillipshead screwdriver. ift the brush cover off.

    4. Grasp rotating floor brush at both endsand lift straight out of the vacuum foot. lipoff the belt.

    5. Clean strings, hair and other debris fromrotating floor brush, paying particularattention to brush ends.

    6. Clean strings, hair and other debris frommotor pulley and drive belt areas.

    7. Check drive belt carefully for wear, cuts orstressed areas, and replace if necessary (seeinstructions on following page).

    8. Check air passageway for obstructions.Remove debris from this area.

    d4-rpa v tUse only a genuine style 9replacement belt (#203-1093) in your vacuum.

    1. Unplug cleaner from electrical socket.

    2. With rotating floor brush removed fromvacuum cleaner (steps 1-4 of Check rotatingfloor brush and drive belt), grasp old drivebelt and remove from motor pulley. Discardold drive belt.

    3. Place new drive belt over motor pulleyand stretch other end over rotating floorbrush in the space between the bristles.

    4. Place ends of rotating floor brush downinto slots on sides as shown.

    5. Turn rotating floor brush by hand severaltimes in the direction of motor pulley. fproperly installed, drive belt will center itself

    on rotating brush.6. Reposition the brush cover and screw allseven screws back into place.

    d5-cang a gow suction or poor pickup may be due toa clog in the vacuum cleaner. f you noticea change in the sound of the motor or areduction in the spinning action, check forclogs.

    1. Unplug cleaner from electrical socket.2. Remove asy mpty dirt tank from vacu-um base and empty dirt and debris.

    3. Remove inner cyclone filter from asympty dirt tank (see page 9) and check fordebris build-up or clogs in the upper tank.

    4. Check the suction inlet for a clog.

    5. Grasp the hose wand to separate fromthe hose wand base. Check for a clog in thebase, the wand or within the hose.

    6. Remove the screw attaching the hosewand base to the vacuum. traighten thehose wand base and check for clogs with along, narrow object such as a broom stick.Do not use sharp objects like a clotheshanger, as these may puncture the hose.

    7. f the clog persists, follow the instructionsfor Checking the rotating floor brush onpage 10 and inspect the air passageway forobstructions.
