Absence—If your child has to be absent from school due to illness please contact the office by phone (01380 860633) or via email :[email protected] before 9:30am on the first day of absence. The advantage of email for you and us is that there is a written record of absence so this would be our preferred method. Please state on any email the reason for your child’s absence and the expected return date to school. Where we have no written record,
we will send home a form with your child on their return to school requesting information about the absence.
What a lovely week we have had this week. The sun has been shining, the children are all happy, safe and as always, lots of learning has gone on. Amongst many achievements, our learning community has reinforced its understanding of how lucky we are when thinking about the Christmas boxes we have sent away and through remembering the sadness caused by war and conflict. We are indeed lucky to have the school that we have and support that we receive from all connected to it.
We have had a lot of sickness in school over the past few weeks. If your child is sick they need to be off school for 48 hours after the last bout. Please encourage your child to wash their hands thoroughly after going to the toilet and before eating. We are also em-phasising this in school.
All the classes have made Remem-brance wreaths this week. After a minute’s silence in the hall, the wreaths were laid in the corridor and they will now be displayed for the next few weeks. This has helped
the children really understand about the importance of Remembrance Day. ‘We will remember them’! Of course St Mary’s in Bishops Cannings will be holding a Remembrance Service this Sunday and every-one is more than welcome to attend.
Lantern Workshops are running at school on 12th, 13th and 19th November. The large lantern construction will take place on Saturday 12th. If you would like to take part in these workshops and then walk with the school in the Lantern Parade, please contact the office. The workshops take place between 10am and 4pm—you do not have to stay for the whole day!

A big thank you to Mr Fallon who came into school this week to facili-tate an Art Workshop with Y3 & Y4. He showed them some of his paint-ings and they all learned about oth-er artists. They had a quiz on the impressionists and then sketched their own artwork.
Children in Need Friday 18th November.
This year we are combining the fundraising of the school Christmas Bingo and Children in Need. Children can donate something choco-late for the bingo, and wear something spotty or brightly coloured for school
Do take time with your children to look at the home-school values page on TRUST, our Christian value for this term (link on front page of school website). Have a go at building a boat from scrap materials as Mrs. Steggall talked about in assembly on Monday. Bring in a photograph of your boat sailing in the bath or sink and we will display it on the home-school challenge board. Do bring in your boat too and we'll put it on display - there will be a prize for the best boat by the end of November!
Thank you for all the do-nations of Christmas boxes. They were all de-livered earlier this week to the collection point and will make their way to where they are most needed.
Good luck to Rhianna, Emma, Lily A and everyone else who
is competing in the Devizes Eeisteddfod this weekend.
