The Louisville Zoo is the ultimate birthday

party venue for children. This complete pack-

age includes all the elements that you’ll need

to host a wild party! Parties are hosted in a

private space for two hours. Guests ages 2

and under are free. Party minimum is 15

guests (adults and children).

FAQs

Is there a Zoo member discount? Louisville Zoo members can receive a discount of $1.20 off per person.

Can I remove items from the base package? You may remove anything from the base package; however, the price will not change and the value of the removed item(s) cannot be applied elsewhere.

What is the cancellation policy and may I reschedule the party? All events are non-refundable. Cancellation of your event will forfeit your payment to the Zoo. However, you may re-schedule depending on availability. If your party is rescheduled within 7 days of your original date, there will be a $75 administrative fee added to your invoice.

Does the base package’s price apply to both adults and children? Yes, the price applies to all guests ages 3 and older.

How do my party guests get into the Zoo? Final guest count is due to your party planner 10 days prior to your party. Wristbands will be made available at the front reception desk located in the administration building for pickup or can be mailed for a small fee. You are respon-sible for distributing the wristbands to your guests. The Zoo does not have a will call where you may leave the tickets.

Can I bring my own food or caterer? Can I take the left over food? As part of the space rental, we require catering through SSA, the Zoo’s exclusive caterer. However, you may bring your own cake or cupcakes. No alcohol may be brought onto Zoo grounds. The health code currently prohibits us from al-lowing you to remove food that we’ve prepared from the space. Any leftover food that we’ve prepared cannot leave the rental space. All food waste is sent to our environmental partner QRS for sorting and composting.

What decorations and furniture are included in the base price? Can we decorate the party space ourselves? We provide in-house tables, chairs and your buffet. No decorations are currently provided by the Zoo. You may deco-rate your space with approval by the Zoo. No décor can be hung from the ceilings or block walkways or doors. Please be aware that we may not be able to extend access to the space, so we ask that your setup and tear down be within your two hour rental period. The Zoo prohibits some items from our grounds and those items are listed below.

Are there any items prohibited from the Zoo? The Zoo does not permit the following items on Zoo grounds for animal and guest safety: confetti, glitter, rice, bird seed, balloons, candles, glass containers, loud music, bouncy balls, bouncy houses, frisbees, roller-skates, clothing with profanity, noise makers of any kind, or outside alcohol.

How do I book, confirm and pay for my party? To book, please visit LouisvilleZoo.org/celebrate to fill out our online inquiry form and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. To confirm your party, sign your event contract and return it to the Zoo’s Events & Hospitality Department along with a full payment for the event. Your event is not confirmed until the signed contract and full payment are received. Payments may be made by check or by credit card.

Can I get a refund for a guest that didn’t show up? We cannot provide refunds for guests who do not show up. However, we can increase the number within a reasonable amount if a guest shows up at the last minute. We cannot guarantee food for guests added after your final count has been submitted to us 10 days prior to your party.

What activities occur during the party? We do not provide any activities during your party, however, you are able to plan your own activities as long as you abide by all Zoo policies.

Why is there a new package this year? This package was built based off feedback from our past clients and our fellow Zoo staff. We’ve created this new pack-age that better suits the needs of our guests and our staff. We have redirected some staffing resources to provide edu-cational opportunities throughout the entire Zoo for all of our guests. Be sure to keep a look out for our new Conserva-tion Crew members!

What if I have more questions? No worries! Fill out an Event Inquiry on our website at LouisvilleZoo.org/celebrate and we’ll get back to you. Due to the number of birthday inquiries we get, please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

Do you provide a party host? We do not provide a party host at this time. We provide the space, the setup, the food and the beverages.

How far in advanced do I have to book? All parties are required to be booked at least 2 weeks in advanced (office hours M-F). We recommend you book at least 30 days out to ensure you get the date and time you want.
