• An orientation session was arranged for the parents of classes I and II. The session pro-vided an insight into the teaching learning methodology followed by the school.

• As the new academic year dawned, we started afresh with renewed spirit and new aspirations. The students were welcomed with warm smiles and open arms. A Wel-come Board was put up by the teachers. The session began on an auspicious note with the recitation of shlokas followed by meditation.

• Amidst the magical wand, magical words and magical tricks an interesting and spell binding magic show was organised. The children and the teachers were amazed to see the tricks and illusions created by the magician. The show was a great success as the excitement of the children knew no bounds.

• To welcome the little ones to the new academic year, a puppet show was or-ganised which was both an interest-ing and refreshing experience for them. The show was lively and entertaining and the children thoroughly enjoyed it.

CLASSES I & II


Events

• The students of classes I and II celebrated Earth Day by hugging trees and shouting the solgan ‘DO NOT CUT TREES’. The children pledged to save trees and their environment through this CHIPKO MOVEMENT. They also made small dustbins using waste materi-als for throwing the pencil shavings in order to keep their classrooms clean. A class project on Green Revolution was undertaken where in the children pledged to take care of Mother Earth.

• The children of classes I and II went for a nature walk and observed all the things around them very carefully. This was followed by a worksheet.

BOOK WEEK

CLASSES I & II

• Books are a man’s best friend. On this note,’Book Week’ was organised for classes I & II. To inculcate read-ing habit in children, Book Reading wasplannedonthefirstday.

• Day2: The children of classes I & II got a golden opportunity to meet the author Ms. Renu Saini who not only narrated an interesting story but also shared her life experiences and her journey as an author.

• Day3 : Book Mark making activity was carried out on the third day of the Book Week. The students enthu-siasticallyparticipatedinthisfunfilledactivity and learnt innovative ways of making book marks.

• Day4:Tobuildconfidenceandora-tory skills in children, an interesting activity was planned. The children spoke about their favourite storybook character using a prop.

• Day5: Book Cover making (Class I) : A well designed book cover can draw the readers’ attention towards the book. Keeping this in mind, the chil-dren of Class I made beautiful covers for their books.

Book Review (Class II) : Put on your thinking caps and become a book re-viewer. The children of Class II read their favourite storybooks and reviewed them. They learnt interesting things like the name of the publisher, the types of cover ,its cost and number of pages .

To keep the children cool in this hot sultry summer, they were treated with

ice-lollies. The children also enjoyed danc-ing with their sunglasses and hats on. Back to the

class, theymade lemonnade and fruit chart for them-selves.This was a wonderful way to begin the new session.

ed the poem ‘Shapes’ with full confidence,properexpressionand great enthusiasm.

NounActivity • An interesting activity on

‘Nouns’ was done by the stu-dents of class II. They brought one picture each of a person, place, animal and thing and made a collage with them. This helped them to under-stand nouns in a better way.

EVSActivity• The children of class II

made stick puppets of the internal organs and spoke a few lines about the func-tions of internal organs like heart,lungs,kidneys etc.RangoliActivity-Forunder-standingthetopicshapes

Inter House Activity• The students of classes 3, 4 & 5 were shown movies• To celebrate Earth Day different activities were undertaken• Class 3 - Made paper bags• Class 4 - Wrote slogans to raise awareness about keeping the earth clean

and green• Class 5 -Made colourful posters with a message on saving the earth.

Art Activity• The students showcased

their creativity through various activities.

• Class 3 - Made Mother’s Day Cards

• Class 4 - Made cards showcasing Warli Art

• Class 5 - Made cards showcasing Madhubani style of art

Class 5A put up a street play on the theme ‘ Save Water’. The students showcased the importance of conserving water and the consequences that mankind would have to face for their negligence in this regard.

Earth Day Activities• To commemorate Earth Day, a plethora of activities in all the subjects was

undertaken . The activities with the theme ‘Our Planet Earth’ ranged from writing short poems,crossword puzzles and declamation to making cut-outs of flowers and plants and writing about their usefulness. The children showed their awareness about the Air Quality Index and how an over use of electric appliances harms the environment.

The Junior School Investiture Ceremony was held on 7th April ‘17. 56 Council Members along with the Head Girl Aparna Gopakumar and Head Boy Shrey Kukreja took the oath.
