FASHION
DESIGNER
Fashion Designer
The life of a designer is linked to tastes and sensibilities that change at a
moment’s notice, and the designer must be able to capitalize on or better
influence those opinions.looks at materials, attends fashion shows,
and works with other designers on projects.
*Paying Your Dues: Fashion Designers work long hours and the initial pay is very limited.
Present & Future of a Fashion Designer
• Designers could rapidly produce and commission
their own wardrobes.
• As the fashion market expands it is predicted that smaller, more
unique brands of clothing will be marketed over television and the internet.
AssociatedCareers:
People entering this field should have a
good eye for color, style, and shape.
Therefore, Other jobs they might get involved in are interior designers, graphic designers, or fashion consultants.
I am very interested in this career. Being a fashion designer, you have to dedicate most of your time to working and I think I would enjoy this job enough to do so. Also, in the fashion business you get the opportunity to travel the world to other fashion capitals such as London and Tokyo.
Editor
The day in the life of an editor: • Editors analyze work looking for specific
qualities of content, grammatical correctness, and stylistic consistency.
• Editors meet with others who are also working on a publication, including artists, typesetters, layout personnel, marketing directors, and production managers
• A magazine editor handles matters different from those of an acquisitions editor or a newspaper editor
• Paying your dues: Most editors were English, communications, or journalism majors in college
• Associated Careers: Some editors leave due to low pay and apply their skills in business, human resources, and governmental administrative careers
Present and Future:
Technology is advancing and lowering fixed publishing costs which make it easier for
smaller houses, magazines, and newsletters to produce quality products. The future of publishing may lie in smaller
houses, in which a variety of skills is required by each editor, including those in
layout and graphics
I am very interested in the career of an Editor. I
want to major in English and I think being an editor of a magazine
would tie in also with my love for fashion.
INTERITOR
DESIGNER
A day in the life of an Interior Designer:
• Responsible for interior design, decoration, and functionality of a client’s space
• Interior designers have to be able to work with contractors and clients to plan out the style of faucets to what color cabinets and all this usually must be done within a fixed budget.
Paying your dues: To be
Federally licensed, interior
designers must pass the
qualification exam given by the National
Council for Interior Design
Associated Careers: Many
become interior decorators,
graphic designers, and
Computer graphics consultants
Present and Future• A significant number
of interior designers are expected to retire
soon
• Only the wealthy used to use
designers but the expansion and
popularization of the field reduced costs
In my opinion this is the least exciting job out of the three I chose. I consider this career
something to fall back on incase the others fail. I would still like to be an
interior designer, but there are other things I would
enjoy more.
