Bios of the 2015 16 Tashi Kyil USA Tour Following are brief biographical sketches of the seven monks from Tashi Kyil Monastery who will be touring the USA in 20152016. Ven. Kalsang Gyatso is the Tour Coordinator. He, along with Tenpa and Dawa, were members of the 2011 and 2013 tours. We are happy to have such experienced monks as part of this new tour group. Bios  of  the  2015  -­‐  16  Tashi  Kyil  USA  Tour    

Following  are  brief  biographical  sketches  of  the  seven  monks  from    Tashi  Kyil  Monastery  who  will  be  touring  the  USA  in  2015-­‐2016.    Ven.  Kalsang  Gyatso  is  the  Tour  Coordinator.    He,  along  with  Tenpa  and  Dawa,  were  members  of  the  2011  and  2013  tours.    We  are  happy  to  have  such  experienced  monks  as  part  of  this  new  tour  group.    Please  welcome  these  monks  to  the  USA.    We  know  that  when  you  have  the  opportunity  to  meet  them,  you  will  never  forget  them

“Kalsang”    Name  :      Kalsang  Gyatso  Passport  No:  Y0083837  Dare  of  birth:  01/07/1981  

Kalsang Gyatso was born in Dhomey in Tibet in the year 1981. His father name is Sangye and his mother’s name is Dolmatso.

In Tibet the year 1993 he was created a monk in Shetsang Ghasar Monastery when he was 13 years old . He began to study to read and writes Tibetan grammar and language in monastery. He studied Tibetan Buddhist philosophy In Shetsang Ghasar monastery until i2000.

When his age of 20 he hiked across the Himalayan Mountains and arrived in India as a refugee in 2001. Then he entered Tashi Kyil Monastery to study Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. Now he has served for two years as the monastery’s a disciplinarian to look after the monks.

Kalsang was a member of both the 2011 and 2013 Tashi Kyill Tour groups. Please welcome him back to the USA.

“Tenpa” Name: Tenpa Phuntsok Date of Birth: 20/12/1986 Tenpa Phuntsok was born in Kulhan, Dehradun. He is the son of Pema Namgyal and Kunsag Wangmo. He went to school in Clement Town until class 2. Then at the age of 8 he became a monk at Tashi Kyil Monastery. He studied rituals and prayers for 10 years and Buddhist philosophy for 10 years. During this time he also worked at the monastery. He recently completed his study of the Six Perfections and is currently studying the Middle Way School of Philosophy at the Dharma Institute of Tashi Kyil Monastery. Tenpa was member of both the 2011 and 2013 tour groups. Please welcome him back to the USA.

Name: Tenpa Dhargya Date of Birth: 05/12/1985 Tenpa Dhargya was born in Vikas Nagar, Dehradun. His father is Ngawang Penpa and his mother’s name is Tashi In 1989 he was ordained a monk by Geshe Kalsang in Clement Town, Dehradun and joined Tashi Kyil Monastery. There he studied rituals and prayers and Tibetan grammer, literature, poetry and English. He also studied Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy. In 2006, he received senior monks vows from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He has studied the Six Perfections Treatises. Tenpa Dhargya was a member of both the 2011 and 2013 tour groups. “Yeshi”  

Name  :            Yeshi  Tsultrim  Passport  No:  047967  Date  of  Birth:  10.5.62  

Yeshi   Tsultrim   was   born   in   Manali   in   year   1962.   His   late   father  name’s  Chopodhar  and  mother  name’s  Sopa  Dolma.    In  1971  at  the  age  of  ten  he  was  created  a  monk  in  Tashi  Kyil  Monastery  Tibetan  Colony  Clement  Town.  

He  first  began  to  study  to  read  and  write  Tibetan  language.  Slowly  he  studied  to  begin  prayer  of  ritual  monastery  after  that  I  finished.    At  the  age  of  16  he  studied  Tibetan  Buddhist  philosophy  in  the  monastery  within  30  years.  After  that  He  has  served  the  monastery  for  19  years  at  Tashi  Kyil  

Yeshi  was  a  member  of  the  2011  tour.    Please  welcome  him  back.

Name Bhanu Pratap Singh Passport No K7990237 Date of Birth 1986 Bhanu Pratap Singh was born on 18th February1986 in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand State. His father Raj Bahadur Singh and mother Subhadra. At the age of eleven, he joined the monastery where he was ordained by Geshi Jamyang Gyatso at Tashi Kyil in Clement Town year in 1997. Then his teacher taught him, and slowly he began reading and writing the Tibetan alphabet. He learned by hard study the daily monastery’s rituals and prayers. Afterwards, for 17 years, he studied Tibetan Buddhist philosophy including the Six Perfections of wisdom . In 2011, he also joined for two years the Hindi Sanskrit workshop at the Central University of Tibetan Studies in Sarnath, Varanasi. Presently, he has been teaching English and Hindi grammar to the small monks in the monastery.

Name Genden Gyatso Passport NoY0094179 Date of birth1967 Genden Gyatso was born on January 21,1967 in Dharamsala. His father's name is Pasangand and his mother is Lhamo.

Genden Gyatso lived and worked with his parents until he was seventeen years old. At the age of 17, he came to Tashi Kyil Monastery and became a monk in the year 1984.

He started reading and writing the Tibetan alphabet. Also by hard study he learned the monastery’s rituals and prayers. Then he studied Tibetan Buddhist philosophy for eight years. Until this date he has worked for monastery performing many activities

Name Jigme Gyamtso Passport No Y0088374 Date of birth 1976

Jigme Gyamtso was born on 13th September 1976 in place called Yarigye ,Tibet. He is the son of Gonpo Tashi and mother Dorjee Kyi.

At the age of 5, he joined Labrang Tashi Kyil Monastery in 1981. He began reading and writing the Tibetan alphabet. Slowly he studied the five major of Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy for a period of fifteen years. Jigme Gyamtso completely graduated as the first Master of Prajanaparamita from Labrang Tashi Kyil Monastery year in 2003.

In the year 2006 he came to India as a refugee, hiking through the Himalayan Mountains. Then went to the Tibetan Transit School to studied English and Tibetan for 2 years. Two years later he joined Tashi Kyil Monastery. In 2008, he served as the monastery’s disciplinarian to look after the monks of Tashi Kyil Monastery year in 2008. He continues to work at the many activities of Tashi Kyil Monastery
