Anthony Tolulope ADEKOLA is a PhD Candidate at the School of Law, City University of Hong Kong
under the supervision of Professor Wenwei Guan. His PhD thesis examines access to medicines in
developing countries with a specific focus on the regional mechanism under WTO-TRIPS reforms. He
is a recipient of the WIPO/KIPO/IIPTI scholarship for the WIPO-Korea Summer School on Intellectual
property in South Korea. He was also awarded the Outstanding Academic Performance Award by
Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies, City University of Hong Kong in September 2019. He has
two quality publications in journals indexed in the Social Sciences Citation (SCI) and SCOPUS. Adekola
also has broad practical experience. He is admitted as a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court
of Nigeria. Before his doctoral studies, he worked as a University lecturer and a legal practitioner in
Nigeria.
Feroz ALI is the Founder of Techgrapher.com, an online platform for managing intellectual property
and former Intellectual Property Chair Professor at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India. Dr.
Ali received his J.S.D. from Duke University and is the author of the book THE ACCESS REGIME:
PATENT LAW REFORMS FOR AFFORDABLE MEDICINES (OUP, 2016).

Nazma Swastika ARIES is an LL.M Candidate in Business Law. Full time student of Internasional Post-
Graduate Program, Gadjah Mada University. Graduated from Law Faculty of Brawijaya University
with cum-laude predicate in February 2017. Had spent her last 3 years in bachelor as a reporter at
Manifest Student Press Institution of Law Faculty Brawijaya University. Become the selected
participant of Student Exchange Program. The first one was Australia Educational Exchange Program
which held by Educational Office of Jember District in 2013. The Second program was Exploring Legal
Culture 2016 (ELC 2016) as an cooperation program between Law Faculty Brawijaya University,
Malang and Law Faculty Leipzig University, Germany. Has a high interest in novels, food, and
photography. Traveling is a year round passion.
Songyin BO is currently a year-2 Ph.D. student in Faculty of law, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Her doctoral research concerns the online dispute resolution mechanisms of e-commerce platforms
in China. Before joining CUHK, Ms. Bo practiced law in both U.S. and China, focused mainly on civil
litigation, M&A, IPO, etc.

Aafreen COLLACO is currently a part-time Ph.D candidate at O.P. Jindal Global University. She was
previously holding a position as an Assistant Professor with the School of Law, Bennett University.
She holds an LL.B degree from Goa University and LL.M degree in Intellectual Property Rights and
Technology Law from Centre for Post Graduate Legal Studies, O.P. Jindal Global University. For her
LL.M thesis, she worked on the topic “IP Protection of Computer Software and the Copyleft
Movement: An Indian Perspective.” She was awarded Gold Medal for standing first in LL.M and the
Nani A. Palkhiwala Memorial Gold Medal for academic excellence. She has also worked as a Research
Assistant at Jindal Initiative on Research in IP & Competition (JIRICO), O.P. Jindal Global University.
Guobin CUI is the Associate Dean for International Affairs and Academics as well as Director of the
Center for Intellectual Property at Tsinghua University Law School. Professor Cui earned his Ph.D. in
law, LL.M.., and B.Sc. in Chemistry from Peking University, and his second LL.M.. from Yale Law
School. His scholarly interests include intellectual property, antitrust, property, and law and
economics theory. He has published more than 20 law review articles and two popular casebooks,
“Patent Law: Cases and Materials” (1st edition in 2012, 2nd edition in 2015) and “Copyright Law:
Cases and Materials” (2014). Before he joined Tsinghua in 2002, he had practiced IP law in Beijing
and Shanghai. In 2008, he worked as an intern for Judge Rader at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the
Federal Circuit. He was a visiting scholar at the George Washington University Law School in 2008,
the University of Chicago Law School in July 2012, the University of Washington Law School in May
2013 and the University of New South Wales in February 2018. He also serves as an adjunct
researcher, the Center for Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property, the Supreme People’s Court of
China; Legal advisor, Beijing High People’s Court; Specialist Juror, Beijing Intellectual Property Court;
and Legal advisor, the People’s Court of Haidian District of Beijing.

Erdenechimeg DASHPUNTSAG was appointed as Dean of Law School, OUT on 1st of January, 2019.
She also has worked as IP agent since 2006 and in 2018 she was appointed as Director of the Board
members of the Association of Patent agents of Mongolia /AMIPA/. She obtained her PhD in
Intellectual Property from Law School, University of Internal Affairs, Mongolia in 2019. She also
obtained her Master of law in Comparative study from Nagoya University, Japan in 2010 and Master
of Law in Intellectual Property from the University of Turin, Italy in 2017. She has published 6 books
and more than 20 research papers and articles in international and domestic law reviews.
Adeet DOBHAL is a Legal Research Fellow at the Centre for WTO Studies (CWS), a think-tank under
the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. A law graduate from Amity Law School, Noida,
Adeet was the recipient of the ‘Best All-round Student’ award from his batch. He also holds a post-
graduate diploma from the Indian Society of International Law, Delhi on international trade and
business laws. He works on trade law issues concerning agriculture, subsidies and e-commerce
amongst others. As a part of CWS, Adeet has also been involved in many upcoming issues in
international trade concerning India, including a dispute on India’s sugar polices at the WTO. His
research interests include trade law, investment law, intellectual property and dispute resolution.

Jingjing HU holds a Doctor of Law degree from Peking University. Between August 2014 to November
2015, she was a research fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. From
July 2016-February 2017, she was an invited researcher at the Institute for Intellectual Property
affiliated to the Japanese Patent Office. Since 2017, she has been a lecturer of Intellectual Property
Law at Southwest University of Political Science and Law in Chongqing, China. She was a visiting
scholar at the University of Auckland for two months in 2018. In June 2019, she participated the
PROM program of Polish Research Centre for Law and Economy of China at the University of Warsaw.
Her teaching and research interests focus on copyright law in cyberspace and infringement of
intellectual property rights. She is the author of “Determining Damages for Patent Infringement—A
comparative study between China and Germany, Japan”, and authors several peer-reviewed papers
in English and Chinese.
Tianxiang HE (China P. R. 1984) is an Assistant Professor at the School of Law, City University of Hong
Kong. Dr. He holds a LL.B. degree (Huaqiao University, China, 2007) and a Master degree in
International Law (Jinan University, China, 2009). Dr. He received his degree of Ph.D. in IP law at
Maastricht University (the Netherlands, 2016), where he was Researcher at the Department of
International and European Law, and Ph.D. Fellow at Institute for Globalization and International
Regulation (IGIR), and another Ph.D. degree in Criminal Law at Renmin University of China (2017).
From August 2012 to July 2013, Dr. He worked in the Research Center for the Legal Systems of
Intellectual Property of Waseda University as a visiting researcher. In Europe, the Ius Commune
Research School conferred to him an Honorable Mention in the Ius Commune Prize 2014. As of 1st
August 2016, Dr. He is working as Assistant Professor in School of Law, City University of Hong Kong.
Dr. He is also acting as an External Fellow in IGIR, Maastricht University. He is also serving as a
reviewer of Journals such as Asia Pacific Law Review, Hong Kong Law Journal, and Computer Law &
Security Review. Dr. He is the author of Copyright and Fan Productivity in China: A Cross-jurisdictional

Perspective. Dr. He’s articles appeared in SSCI journals such as American Journal of Comparative
Law, Queen Mary Journal of Intellectual Property, Journal of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A., and
Computer Law & Security Review.
Haifeng HUANG co-chairs Jones Day’s intellectual property practice in China and is regularly called
on to lead teams and advise clients on their complex business disputes and intellectual property
matters. He has a broad practice covering disputes and transactions involving patents, trademarks,
copyrights, trade secrets, unfair competition, antitrust, and technology licenses. Haifeng has advised
clients on cases in intellectual property courts and other courts and agencies throughout China, as
well as before multiple arbitration tribunals. These cases have involved a diverse range of industries,
including software and systems, semiconductors, telecommunications, electronics, textiles,
chemicals, optics, consumer products, heavy machinery, medical devices, and biotechnology.
Haifeng is a frequent speaker on China intellectual property issues and has been recognized for his
work in World IP Review, Managing Intellectual Property, IAM Patent, and Chambers Asia-Pacific.
Weijie HUANG, LL.B. and LL.M.. (Sun Yat-sen University), Ph.D (the Faculty of Law, University of Hong
Kong) is currently an assistant professor at Shenzhen University Law School. She got the 2017-2018
Fulbright-RGC Hong Kong Research Scholar Award and studied in the University of California at
Berkeley, School of Law as a visiting student researcher from September 1, 2017 through June 30,
2018. She is now studying in Singapore Management University, School of Law after she was selected
to participate in a Ph.D. training program. Her research interests include copyright, user-generated
content, media law and law and economics. She got first prize in 2016 Guangdong Province Law
Society-Civil & Commercial Law Association Conference and the Outstanding Paper Award in 2017
China Law and Economics Forum. She also ranked Top 10 in 2018 ATRIP Essay Competition. She was

involved in many research projects including “Digital China” committed by Australian Research
Council, “Joint Research Project on Prosumerism and IP” funded by Eurasia-Pacific Uninet, “Fair Use
and Creativity across the US, the EU, Hong Kong and Mainland China” committed by the General
Research Fund of Hong Kong, and a National Nomocracy and Legal Theory Project “Governance of
Plagiarism: Between Academic Ethics and Legal Rules” sponsored by Ministry of Justice of PRC.
Mohammad Towhidul ISLAM is a Professor of Law at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He
received his PhD in intellectual property law from the Macquarie University, Australia. He holds an
LLM in international human rights law from the University of East London, United Kingdom and an
LLB (honours) and an LLM from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He attended the UN/UNITAR
Fellowship in international law held in 2006 at the Hague Academy of International Law, and
participated in the WIPO-WTO Colloquium for Intellectual Property Law Teachers held in Geneva at
the WIPO and WTO headquarters. He presented papers in many conferences including the ATRIP
Congress 2017 held in Wellington and the SIEL Global Conference 2018 held in Washington DC. He
serves on several editorial boards and reviews articles for a number of reputed journals. He also
offers his consultative services to the government agencies, international institutions, national and
international non- government organizations. He is also a regular op-ed legal issues contributor in
leading national dailies. His current teaching and research areas include intellectual property law,
corporate law, land law, human rights law, and clinical legal education. His research articles appear
in a number of well-recognized journals. One of his research monographs was published in the United
Kingdom.

Priyal JAIN is a 4th year student of BBA-LLB (Hons) in ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad, India. She holds
an All India Rank of "4" in the First Ever National IPR Olympiad organized by ISERD, India in 2019. She
has completed "6" certificate courses in the field of IPR from the World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO). As a recognition to her average score of 90% in all the certificate courses, she
was also given a joint scholarship by Korean Intellectual Property Institute, Korean Invention
Promotion Association and Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology to pursue the
course of IP Panorama offered by WIPO in which she again scored 100% marks. She has recently been
accredited in Mediation Advocacy from the Standards and Competencies in Mediation Advocacy
(SCMA), London. She has also been certified in Arbitration Advocacy by the Kapila & Nirmal Hingorani
Foundation. She has been endorsed by the Singapore International Mediation Institute for Mediation
Advocacy. She has also been empaneled on The PACT’s roster for ADR/CDR lawyers, affiliated with
the Federation of Associations of Small Industries of India and the Association of Mediation
Assessors, Training and Instructors. She has also written two research papers that have been
published in International journals. She is eagerly interested to explore the field of IPR, ADR and
Competition Law in depth and plans to work in it in her future.
Mohammad Ataul KARIM is an advocate, academic and legal researcher, currently serving as Senior
Lecturer of Law at East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He obtained his LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws)
and LL.M. (Master of Laws) from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He received his second LL.M. in
Intellectual Property Law (Specialized in Patents and Designs Law) jointly offered by WIPO Academy,
Turkish Patents and Trademarks Offices and Ankara University, Turkey. His papers are published in
referred national and international journals, including Queen Mary Journal of Intellectual Property
Law, Journal of Intellectual Property and Practice, Journal of World Intellectual Property. He has
number of national and international seminar and conference papers in his credits. He has been

awarded with University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh Gold Medal, 2016 for the best
research publication in law. His areas of interest include Intellectual Property Law, Constitutional Law
and Jurisprudence.
Tiwari KUHU is currently pursuing Ph.D. at Rajiv Gandhi School of IP Law, IIT Kharagpur, India, one of
the premier IP Law Schools in India under the supervision of Dr. Niharika Sahoo Bhattacharya. She
has done her Masters of Law (LL.M) with the specialization in Intellectual Property and Technology
Laws from the National Law University Jodhpur, India. Her doctoral study is in the interdisciplinary
area of Intellectual Property Laws and Pharmaceutical laws. Particularly, she is focusing on the
regulatory aspects of Trademark and Pharmaceutical law, and its implication on consumers and
pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program in the year 2018, she has served as an
Assistant Professor at Hidayatullah National Law University for three and a half years.
Qi Jun KWONG is a Doctoral Candidate in the Graduate School of Law, Nagoya University under the
supervision of Professor Masabumi Suzuki. Her topic concerns regional economies and cross-border
patent dealings. Qi Jun earned her LL.B. from Nagoya University, serving as valedictorian of her class
in 2015. She completed her LL.M. studies in 2017 under a research grant provided by the Ministry of
Education of Japan (MEXT) and a scholarship provided by the Sato Yo International Foundation. Apart
from pursuing her doctoral studies, she lectured on intellectual property law at Meijo University,
Japan. She is currently interning at the Legislative and Policy Advice Section, Patent Law Division of
the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Jingze LI is a Ph.D. candidate at the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society (TILT), Tilburg
University of the Netherlands. She is doing a Ph.D. research about intellectual property rules in the
interactions between open source and standard setting organizations. The research explores what
are the possible means of IPR rules in the interplay, how (newly) established rules will affect
innovation and competition and what are the competition law limits to these arrangements. Her
Ph.D. is currently focusing on the EU jurisdiction, with necessary comparisons to the US and China.
She has presented and published some of her previous research in conferences. The ITU
Kaleidoscope Academic Conferences 2017 (awarded “Young Author Recognition”) and the British
and Irish Law, Education and Technology Association Annual conference 2017. She did a bachelor of
Geophysics in Central South University in China, then studied law of two master degrees at China-EU
school of Law of China University of Political Science and Law: a JM of Chinese Law and an LL.M. of
European International Law of Hamburg University. She has worked as an intern for the legal
department of Siemens and some IP groups of British and American law firms in China. She has
passed the China National Bar Examination. She is fluent in both Chinese and English.
Yahong LI, JSD (Stanford), is an associate professor and director of the LLM Program in Technology
and IP Law at HKU Department of Law. She is the author/editor of Patents and Innovation in
Mainland China and Hong Kong: Two Systems in One Country Compared (CUP, 2017), China Chapter
in Lionel Bently (eds.), International Copyright Law and Practice (LexisNexis, 2015 onward),
Copyright, Internet and the Balance of Rights (HKU Press, 2016), Imitation to Innovation in China:
The Role of Patents in Biotech and Pharmaceutical Industries (EE, 2010), and International and
Comparative Intellectual Property: Law, Policy and Practice (LexisNexis, 2005), and published in top

journals including IIC, LIT, QMJIP, Cardozo AELJl, and UPenn JIL. She was awarded the faculty research
output prizes and the Cambridge-HKU fellowship, and was a visiting scholar/professor at Harvard,
Max Planck, Santa Clara, Academia Sinica, PKU and SMU. She frequently spoke at international
conferences and delivered public lectures at CREATe Center, WIPO IP Summer School, and many
mainland Chinese universities. She is a member of Executive Committee of the ATRIP, a council
member of the China IP Law Association, and an honorary advisor of the Hong Kong Institute of
Patent Attorneys. She sits in the Expert Committees of the following institutions: Peking University
Great Bay Area IP Institute, the China National Copyright Trading Platform, and IP Utilization and
Protection of Guangzhou ETDZ. She has supervised more than 15 PhD students, and teaches the
courses of Copyright and Creativity, International and Comparative IP Law, and IP, Innovation and
Development.
Yangzi LI, LL.B. (Guangdong University of Foreign Studies) and LL.M. (The Chinese University of Hong
Kong), is a Ph.D. student in the Faculty of Law, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research
interests include intellectual property law, technology law and regulations, artificial intelligence
policies. Her paper “The Obscure Consumer in the Chinese Intellectual Property Law” has been
published on European Intellectual Property Review. She was involved in research projects including
“Open Government Data License in Hong Kong” granted by General Research Fund of Hong Kong and
“Taxation and Development: Case Study of China” committed by Early Career Scheme.
Jyh-An LEE is an Associate Professor of Law at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he serves
as the Director of the LLB Programme and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies. He holds a
J.S.D. from Stanford Law School and an LL.M from Harvard Law School. During his studies at Stanford
Law School, Dr. Lee was appointed the John M. Olin Fellow in Law and Economics. Prior to joining

the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he taught at National Chengchi University and was an Associate
Research Fellow in the Center for Information Technology Innovation at Academia Sinica in Taiwan.
He was the Legal Lead and Co-Lead of Creative Commons Taiwan (2011–2014) and an advisory
committee member for Copyright Amendment in the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) at
the Ministry of Economic Affairs (2011–2014). He has been the Legal Lead of the Creative Commons
Hong Kong Chapter since October 2018. Professor Lee is currently a member of the advisory board
of the European Center for E-Commerce & Internet Law affiliated with the University of Vienna. In
2016, he was appointed as a domain name dispute resolution panelist by the Asian Domain Name
Dispute Resolution Centre (ADNDRC) and continues to serve in this capacity. Before starting his
academic career, he was a practicing lawyer in Taiwan, specializing in technology and business
transactions.
Su-Hua LEE received her Bachelor of Laws from National Taipei University and Master of Laws
(Magister iuris comparativi, M. iur. Comp.) from Rheinischen Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn,
and earned the Doctor of Laws (Ph.D.) from National Taiwan University in 2006. Being scholarship
holders of the German DAAD Program for Ph.D. students and MPI (Max Planck Institute for Innovation
and Competition) in Munich, she was a visiting researcher in MPI from 2005 to 2007. Lee has been
Professor of Law at National Taiwan University since 2016 and previously served in law faculties at
National Tsing Hua University and National Taipei University. Over the years, she has published
articles in various journals in Chinese as well as in English. Lee conducted research projects funded
by public and private sectors. Since 2015, she has been leading a research team to help the
government to draft the bill of drug approval-patent linkage (patent linkage). Lee is a member of
governmental expert groups relating to intellectual property and pharmaceutical affairs. She
participates in Asian academic groups focusing on current and emerging issues of Asian intellectual
property laws.

Sujin LEE is international business development director at CJ 4DPLEX, a company that specializes in
supplying innovative technologies to global cinema industry. Sujin is responsible for Europe and
Australian market and has been instrumental for fast expansion of 4DX technology throughout the
world. Sujin also has a lot of research work experiences especially in the field of intellectual property
law and media industry. She published 13 articles with Korea Copyright Commission as a free-lance
researcher especially in the field of private copying, European Union Copyright directives, and the
new IP related amendments proposed in Thailand, Russia, and countries in Africa. She also worked
at Korean Communications Standards Commissions as a short-term researcher studying the online
infringement of personal right cases in Korea. Sujin also participated in publishing yearbook at Korean
Information Society Development Institute regarding British media market and related media
policies. Sujin was more into Journalism and languages and never studied law before a short summer
study in English law at London School of Economics and Political Sciences in 2012. After finding out
how fascinating IP law is, she pursued her academic enthusiasm at Seoul National University studying
Intellectual Property Law, focusing private copying in the digital age during her master studies, and
expected to start her doctoral degree in coming March. Sujin speaks fluent English and has
intermediate skills in Spanish. Now she is learning French.
Heng Gee LIM is a Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam,
Malaysia. Dr Lim specialises in Intellectual Property law and has taught the subject in various
universities both in Malaysia and in the United Kingdom. He has published several articles relating to
Intellectual Property laws in academic journals, both in Malaysia and overseas, as well as presented
papers at various Intellectual Property conferences and seminars. He has also contributed chapters
to books on various aspects of intellectual property law. Besides his academic duties, Dr Lim is a

resource person at the Intellectual Property Training Centre of the Intellectual Property Corporation
of Malaysia. He also serves as a member of various Advisory Committees on Intellectual Property
Laws in the Intellectual Property Division of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs
(now the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia), advising on various amendments to the
intellectual property laws. Dr Lim represented Malaysia as an expert at three WIPO
Intergovernmental Committee Intersessional Working Groups on Intellectual Property and Genetic
Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore” in 2010 and 2011. He is also a member of the
Steering Committee on Intellectual Property Commercialisation of the Innovation and
Commercialisation Division of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. In June 2008, Dr
Lim was appointed a Board Member of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation for a two
year term. In January 2012, he was appointed a member of the Intellectual Property Committee of
the Innovation Agency of Malaysia, an agency under the Prime Minister’s Department.
Kung-Chung LIU holds a Doctor of Law degree from the Ludwig Maximilians Universitat (University
of Munich). Between 1992 to January 31, 2017, he was a research fellow at the Institute for Social
Sciences and Philosophy (Jurisprudence Division) and Institutum Iurisprudentiae, Academia Sinica. In
2003-04, he was a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore and
Visiting Senior Research Fellow for the IP Academy of Singapore. In 2006-07, he served as one of the
founding Commissioners of the National Communications Commission in Taiwan. Since 2007, he has
been co-appointed by the Institute of Law for Science and Technology, National Tsing Hua University.
Since 2010, he was further co-appointed by the Graduate Institute of Technology, Innovation &
Intellectual Property Management, National Chengchi University. Between April 2014 and June 2015,
he was a Visiting Professor at the School of Law, Singapore Management University, and founded
the Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets and the Law in Asia (ARCIALA) in May 2015.
Beginning from February 1, 2017 Professor Liu re-joined SMU and resumed the directorship of
ARCIALA. In addition, he serves as Professor at Renmin University of China. His teaching and research
interests are intellectual property law, antitrust and unfair competition law, and communications
law. He is the author of twelve books in Chinese, the editor and co-editor of eight books in English,
and authors over 100 peer-reviewed papers in English and Chinese.

Jianchen LIU is currently a research associate at Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets and
the Law in Asia, School of Law, Singapore Management University. He is also a Ph.D. candidate at
Renmin University of China, majoring in IP law. He holds an LL.M. degree and an LL.B. degree, both
from East China University of Political Science and Law. His research area mainly focuses on the
intersection between IP law and competition law, and his most recent research topics are artificial
intelligence and big data issues related to IP. To date, he has published ten articles in respect of these
topics on several journals. Prior to pursing his academic career, he once worked as an IP lawyer for a

Chien-Chih LU (Jesse) is an assistant professor at National Chengchi University College of
Communication with Doctor of Juridical Science (J.S.D.) degree from the University of California,

experience in entertainment law and media governance. He received the UC Berkeley International
and Comparative Law Certificate and UC Berkeley Public Interest and Social Justice Certificate when

Infringement Resource project supported by the University Southern California (USC) School of Law.

branding law, artistic freedom and cultural policy.

Farizah MOHAMED ISA is currently attached with the Faculty of Law, Universiti Teknologi Mara
(UiTM) Malaysia as a senior lecturer. She holds an LLB (Hons) from Liverpool John Moores University
UK and an LLM (Hons) in Intellectual Property from UiTM, Malaysia. Her field of expertise are mainly
intellectual property, contract and tort law. She has also taught Media Law as a servicing subject to
other faculties at UiTM. As a senior member of the Faculty, she has also held administrative positions,
namely, Head of Program for Bachelor of Legal Studies from 2003-2007 for the Faculty. From 2009
to 2011, she was appointed as the Head, Intellectual Property Management at the Centre for
University-Industry Linkages, UiTM. She was appointed again as the Head, Intellectual Property
Management, Research Innovation and Business Unit, UiTM in 2017 to date. In that capacity, her
responsibilities include giving IP awareness workshops to researchers and academicians within the
University, and she has also been invited by various sectors outside the University to share
knowledge on IP. She is also active in research, and has presented papers in conferences mainly on
patent law, specifically on issues relating to biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Currently she is a
member of Innovation and Technology Managers Association Malaysia (ITMA) and is completing her
PhD on DNA patents and its effects on medical advancement in Malaysia.

Tran Van NAM has been lecturing at the National Economics University (NEU) Hanoi, Vietnam, since
1989, and is currently Dean, NEU Faculty of Law. Tran Van Nam graduated from Hanoi Law University
with LL.B., earned a MBA from Boise States University, (USA); acquired a LL.M. in IP from University
of Turin (Italy) and obtained his Ph.D. from Hanoi National Economics University. Nam also has his
Doctor of Law (LL.D) from Vietnam Graduate Academy of Social Sciences. He was the Fulbright
visiting lecturer at the University Of Washington School Of Law for the 2002-2003 School Year and
later became an active member of IP Collegium, Japan Institute for Promoting Invention & Innovation
(JIPII). Tran Van Nam is the co- editor of the Laws on Intellectual Property textbook, published by
National Economics University Press. He co-authored the training manual book designed for the
Vietnam’s Supreme Procuracy; so called “Cyble Crimes in Vietnam”. He is also co-authored of books
published by Indersciences (USA), Strategic information technology and portfolio management; with
Albert Wee Kwan Tan, Cuthbert N Shepherdson et al. In September 2019, Tran Van Nam acted as the
co-chair of the National Conference: Startup: the legal perspective for investment held in Hanoi
under the auspice of the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Program 844 (V-Startup), In December
2019; he participated in the National Techfest, held in Ha Long City, Vietnam as a speaker and a co-
moderator of the Edutech Village. Since 2002 to date, Tran Van Nam has participated in the Vietnam
International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) as an international arbitrator, practicing trade law and
intellectual property law
Chanmi OH is a journalist at The Bell of MoneyToday Group in South Korea, a company which
specialized in capital market news report. Chanmi is responsible for industry department, for now
especially in Biopharma M&A and licensing deal. She worked as a news producer in 2013 and 2014
at KBS, the national public broadcaster of South Korea. She directed the ‘KBS global 24’ international
news program. Chanmi also has a lot of research work experiences especially in the field of
intellectual property law. She published a lot of articles with Korean copyright commission as a

freelance researcher in 2016 and on Law & Technology in 2015 and 2016, especially field of Copyright
of Robot and IP for Artificial intelligence. Chanmi is participated in publishing a yearbook at
Moneytoday group regarding the industry development with M&A deal of Korean company. Chanmi
was finished her last course of Ph.D. in Intellectual Property Law at Seoul National University, after
receiving her master's degree in intellectual property law at SNU. She also has a bachelor degree in
law. Her works are specifically focused on Big Data and AI Copyright. She is looking for a chance to
have a post doctoral course in other country and also for teaching. For her master's degree, she
published a paper titled 'Copyright in Fair use for Journalism. As copyright for journalism is increasing
in importance in Korea, she studied how journalists can use copyright works including big data freely
for news reporting. As she likes to learn other cultures and languages, she studied Chinese at the
Tianjin University of China and took an intermediate class for two months in 2008. She interned at
CLC center in New York City for a year in 2010.
Meghana PARIKH holds Masters of Science (M.Sc.) with specialization in Organic Chemistry (2000)
and LL. B (2012) from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. She is recipient of three Gold medals
in M.Sc. and have received several scholarships and awards. She started her career in 2000 with
reputed pharmaceutical company in R&D department and eventually started working for IP
department as in-house counsel. She is qualified Indian patent Agent and Advocate with practice in
Patents, Trade marks and Design Laws. She was selected by Dept. of Industrial Policy & Promotion
(DIPP), Indian Patent Office (IPO) and Japan Patent Office (JPO) to attend JPO-IPO Training for IP
Lawyers, October 2014, Tokyo, Japan. She is visiting faculty at her alma mater and teaches
Intellectual Property Laws to post-graduation students in Pharmacy and Applied Chemistry
departments. She has been invited as speaker at several forums to sensitize on Intellectual Property
Rights. She is an Associate Partner at Nanavati Associates, Advocates, Patents and Trade mark
Attorneys, and specializes in prior art searches, patent analysis, freedom-to-operate opinions,
invalidation searches, drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications, counselling on
patentability of invention, support for product selection/identification, technical support for patent
litigation and much more. She also, handles Trade marks and Design matters. She is a cycling
enthusiast and participates in marathon and triathlon events across the country.

Stefan PAPASTEFANOU is a lecturer and PhD student at the Center for Transnational IP, Media and
Technology Law and Policy at Bucerius Law School, Hamburg, Germany and currenctly a Visiting
Scholar at the Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets and the Law in Asia (ARCIALA) at the
Singapore Managemant University. He studied law at Bucerius Law School, Hamburg and finished his
First States Exam in 2016. His PhD project was awarded with the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung PhD
Scholarship in 2017, an additional scholarship from the Schmidt, von der Osten und Huber law firm
in 2018, the ARCIALA research scholarship in and an additional research scholarship from the German
Academic Exchange Service in 2019. His research focus lies on International IP relationships and
comparative legal analysis of modern technology and recent developments within the digital
environment. Next to his teaching and research position at the IP Center of Bucerius Law School,
Stefan Papastefanou also worked at the Hamburg office of Latham & Watkins LLP in the IP/IT
Department. His PhD project and other independent research projects have been presented and
discussed during the GRUR Tagung Junge Wissenschaft 2018 in Munich and 2019 in Leipzig and also
at the 37th ATRIP Annual Congress 2018 in Helsinki, where his presentation was awarded the 1st
place in the Early Career Workshop competition, as well as the First IPIRA Conference in Kuala
Lumpur in 2019.

Nishara Madushani PATTERSON, a Registered nurse and a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Nursing
graduate from University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka and she was an exchange student at

Jayewardenepura as a Demonstrator and at present, she has been working as an Academic

Brinda PAULRAJ is faculty of law in the School of Excellence in Law, the Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar

research on “Protection of Authors’ Right in Live Streaming: A Study in the Context of Digital
Broadcasting”. A few publications on IPR issues ranging from “Webcasters’ Protection in Copyright,
Broadcasters’ Rights, Copyrightability of Sports Contents, Patentability Standards with Special
Reference to Pharmaceuticals to Industrial Designs” in renowned national and international law
journals add credit to his early career. He is currently working on a project titled “Interface between
Taxation and IPR” – (A funded research project by IUCIPRS).
Niharika SALAR is currently pursuing her masters in law (with specialization in Intellectual Property
& Technology Law) at Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore. She recently graduated with
bachelors in law from National University of Study & Research in Law, Ranchi, India. During her time
at under graduation, she represented NUSRL at various moot court competitions and trial advocacy
competitions in India, in the capacity of a speaker as well as a researcher. Her research interests
include inter disciplinary research apart from intellectual property right issues around the world.

Owais SHAIKH completed his PhD with Magna-cum-Laude from Ludwig Maximilians Universität
(Munich University), Germany. He wrote his PhD dissertation on impact of exclusive right on
pharmaceutical approval data on access to medicine at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and
Competition in Munich, which was published by Springer. Dr. Shaikh also has a Master of Laws in
Intellectual Property (LL.M) from University of Augsburg (Munich Intellectual Property Law Center).
Apart from these, he holds an MBA and a BBA from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.
As an Associate Professor, Dr. Shaikh teaches Intellectual Property Law and Legal Research Methods
at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law, Karachi, Pakistan, where he is also leads the
Department of Law. Moreover, he is a Tutor for the Intellectual Property Management course at the
World Intellectual Property Organization Academy. He also acts as a mentor to various technology
startups and assists them in IP protection. Previously he worked as Management Consultant with
Siemens AG in Germany as well as Assistant Director at the Intellectual Property Organization of

Rujitha SHENOY is currently working as Assistant Professor of Law at National Law University, Odisha,
India, She is teaching IPR and Property Laws for undergraduate students and post graduate students.
Before joining NLU Odisha she taught IP laws for post graduate students at IUCIPRS, Cochin
University. Also taught International Laws and IPR at Gujarat National Law University. She is
specialized in IPR & commercial Laws, and doing Phd in the area of biotechnology patents. She has

Haochen SUN is Associate Professor of Law and Director of Law and Technology Center at the
University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law. His research and teaching focuses on the theoretical and
policy foundation of intellectual property, Chinese intellectual property law, and international and
comparative intellectual property law. His most recent research is concerned with copyright law and
the public interest, intellectual property protection of luxury goods, and intellectual property and
social justice. Haochen has won the HKU Faculty of Law Research Output Prize twice. He co-edited
The Luxury Economy and Intellectual Property (Oxford University Press, 2015) with Professors Barton
Beebe and Madhavi Sunder. He is currently completing a book that aims to put forth a new ethical
theory of copyright and the public interest. The book will be published by Cambridge University Press
in 2018. He is also co-editing The Cambridge Handbook of Copyright Limitations and Exceptions in
Comparative Perspective (Cambridge University Press, forthcoming 2018) with Professors
Shyamkrishna Balganesh and Wee Loon Ng-Loy. Haochen has been a visiting professor at the
University of California, Davis, School of Law and the University of North Carolina School of Law.
Before joining HKU, he worked as a research fellow at the Harvard Berkman Klein Center for Internet
& Society and the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. Haochen has given public
lectures at many leading law schools in North America, Europe and Asia. He has also spoken at many
international conferences. His recent work on intellectual property has been selected for
presentation at the Fourth Harvard-Stanford International Junior Faculty Forum, the Plenary Session
of the Eleventh Intellectual Property Scholars Conference, and the Fourth Junior Scholars in
Intellectual Property Workshop at Michigan State University College of Law. Haochen has organized
many international conferences on intellectual property. He launched the HKU Lecture in Intellectual
Property and the Insights in Intellectual Property Practice public lecture series in 2015 and 2016
respectively. These events have featured public lectures and talks by leading intellectual property
scholars, practitioners and governmental officials. In addition, Haochen has advised leading law firms
and companies in the entertainment, information technology, and luxury and fashion sectors on
matters relating to intellectual property protection. His opinions about intellectual property have
appeared in Forbes, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, South China Morning Post, Ming
Pao, Shenzhen Satellite TV, and RTHK.

Masabumi SUZUKI has been teaching intellectual property law at Nagoya University Graduate School
of Law in Japan since April 2002, and is Dean of the School since April 2018. He received an LL.B. from
the University of Tokyo (1981) and an LL.M.. from Harvard Law School (1986), and was admitted to
the New York Bar in 1987. In 1981, he joined the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and
Industry (MITI, now METI). At the Ministry, he was Director for North American Trade Policy Planning
(1995-1998), and Director of the Office of Intellectual Property Policy (1999-2001) as well as the
Office of Trade Policy Review (2001-2002). He also served as Visiting Fellow at the Brookings
Institution (1998-99). He is currently a member of the Japanese government’s advisory councils on
Patent Law and Copyright Law. He is also Director of the Japan Association of Industrial Property Law,
the Copyright Law Association of Japan, and the Japan Association of International Economic Law.

Zhyldyz TEGIZBEKOVA, PhD in Law, Associate Professor, Law School, AlaToo International University,
Kyrgyzstan. The areas of her research interests and teaching are Intellectual Property Law,
International Law, Transport and Human Rights. Since Spring 2019, Zhyldyz has been teaching
“Traditional Knowledge, Traditional Expression of Culture” course through the WIPO Academy’s on-
line platform. In 2018-2019, Zhyldyz was a Fulbright Visiting Professor at DePaul University (Chicago,
USA). Mrs. Tegizbekova worked in the international and national projects, as well as had experience
of legal practice. In 2010 and 2013, Zhyldyz was a Visiting Scholar at Law College, DePaul University,
where she studied and did her research on IP, Customary Law and Traditional Knowledge issues. For

over three years (2015-2018), she worked as an Expert of the Security Council under the President
of Kyrgyzstan. Currently, Zhyldyz cooperates with the IP Office of Kyrgyzstan and she is doing her
research on “The Development of Intellectual Property Rights in Central Asia: the WIPO System and
National Regulations”. She is the author of 4 books and over 30 peer-reviewed papers in English and
Russian.
Jie WANG (1985) is currently an Assistant Professor at Koguan Law School, Shanghai Jiaotong
University. His research focuses on Intellectual Property Law, particularly on copyright law, and also
covers European Law and Comparative law. In Oct. 2016, he finished his PhD research and received
this doctor degree from Maastricht University, Netherlands. In 2012, he successfully acquired
scholarship from Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, and had done study there for
14 months as a guest researcher. So far, he has been invited to attend and present at the conferences
held in the US, UK, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and South Korea. 8 of his articles have been
published on Journals, including some renowned Journals in IP field, such as Computer Law and
Security Review, International Review of Intellectual Property and Competition, European
Intellectual Property Review and Intellectual Property (Chinese). His PhD thesis “Regulating Hosting
ISP’s Responsibilities for Copyright Infringement: The Freedom to Operate in the US, EU and China”
has been published with Springer in April 2018.
Wei WANG is now a PhD student at the University of Hong Kong. Trained in Engineering and Law, he
focuses his research interests on IP & IT Law, Innovation Policy, particularly by means of
Computational Legal Studies and Data Science. He engages as an Administrative Officer for the
Creative Commons Hong Kong Chapter, of which he was also among the founding members. Prior to

his PhD studies, Wei worked as Data Analyst of IP litigations in Shenzhen and Research Associate with
a focus on AI and Copyright at Law and Technology Centre, HKU. Wei recently completed the
WIPO/QUT LLM in Intellectual Property with a Dean's Scholarship. He also holds BEng, LLB and MPhil
from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China), with the support of the Research
Center for the Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property approved by the Supreme People's Court
of P.R.China. He has been an active speaker in the conferences organized by China Cyber &
Information Law Society, WIPO and WTO. As a young interdisciplinary contributor (Associated
Scholar) with eyes on law, innovation and data science, Wei has recently joined the CyberBRICS
Project supported by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) Law School in Brazil and five other institutions
in the BRICS countries.
Xiaoren WANG received her J.S.D. (Doctor of the Science of Law) at the University of Illinois in May
of 2019. Now she is a Max Weber postdoc fellow in European University Institute at Florence, Italy,
working with Professor Peter Drahos. She is interested in intellectual property law, psychological and
empirical studies. Her doctoral research focused on the empirical study of aesthetic functionality in
US trademark law. She also worked with Professor Paul J. Heald, researching values of copyright in
public domains. Before her J.S.D, Xiaoren practiced as a trademark attorney in China for five years.
Her business covered counseling on trademark registrations, infringements, counterfeiting and
designing trademark strategies for international companies. Her teaching interests are intellectual
property law, comparative law and empirical methodologies.
Alice Yuen-Ting WONG, Ph.D., J.D., is an Intellectual Property Specialist of Albert Wai-Kit Chan
Intellectual Property Limited. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from The Chinese

University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and was awarded her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and J.D. from the same
school. Dr. Wong has over 7 years of work experience in patent matters. Focusing on biotech and
pharmaceutical inventions, she helps clients with drafting and managing patent applications and
provides patent search and analysis. Dr. Wong has published several papers discussing IP and/or
regulatory issues in the areas of stem cells, natural products, genomic medicine, foods and
biosimilars. She teaches as a part-time lecturer on IP and relevant topics in the School of Life Sciences
at CUHK. Before she joined the legal industry, she engaged in research on various topics including
molecular biology, RNA/protein interactions and DNA-based authentication of Traditional Chinese
Medicine (TCM) for more than 7 years.
Chih-Chieh YANG received his L.L.B in law from National Taiwan University (2001), M.B.A from
National Central University, Taiwan( 2003), and Ph.D in the law from National Taiwan University
(2006). Between 2008-2012, he was a assistant professor at Department of Law, Aletheia University,
Taiwan. Since 2012, he serves as professor at Institute of Technology Law, National Yunlin University
of Science & Technology, Taiwan. He majors in copyrights, patent laws, antitrust law and
constitutional law. Most topics of his published essays are to compare U.S. IP laws, EU laws with
Taiwan’s IP laws, written in Chinese. Recently, he focuses on the relationship between IP
enforcement and antitrust, especially the SEP license issues. Now he also is director of Intellectual
Property Law Research Center, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan.
Sutatip YUTHAYOTIN is a Judge of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court of Thailand.
Before her current position, she was a Judge and Secretary of the Central Intellectual Property and
International Court of Thailand from 2014 to 2017. She is also an adjunct professor in various

universities in Thailand and abroad including Kyushu University, Chulalongkorn University,
Thammasat University, among others. With her expertise in IP laws and IP case law management,
she has often been invited as guest speaker in many international IP legal forums including the St.
Petersburg International Legal Forum 2016 organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian
Federation, the 5th Asia Pacific IP Forum organized by Hokkaido University, ALA ASEAN Conference
2017 organized by the ASEAN Law Associations. She has published many articles and books. One of
her outstanding works is the book “Access to Justice in Transactional B2C E-Commerce: A
Multidimensional Analysis of Consumer Protection Mechanisms” published by Springer in 2014.
Chenguo ZHANG (Coco) holds a chair of Associate Professor at the KoGuan Law School of Shanghai
Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China. She is affiliated research fellow at the Centre of European Law
and Politics, University of Bremen and the Max-Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition,
Germany. She is now also Shanghai Oriental Chair of Distinguished Professor and visiting professor
at Peking University, School of Transnational Law. She graduated from Tsinghua University, China
(Bachelor of Law) and University Frankfurt (Master and Ph.D.), Germany. From 2013 to 2018, she
taught intellectual property (IP) law at the University of Bremen and led a research project in
innovation, competition and cross-border conflict resolutions. She wrote columns for legal journals
and translated classic works of jurisprudence from German to Chinese. Her interests of research lie
in the international, political, theoretical and the instrumental facets of the IP law with emphasis on
China and the EU. Her latest publications include papers on the regulations of sharing economy, the
sui generis right of traditional knowledge and folklore in developing countries, the three-step test
and fair-use doctrine for more openness in copyright law, the basic theory of EU IP Law, the third
amendment of the PRC Copyright Act as well as the PRC Patent Act. She wrote the book Protection
of Collective Interests in German Law, published in Germany 2010.

Weiyu ZHANG is currently a Ph.D. student in Intellectual Property Law at Hokkaido University (Japan).
Her doctoral research revolves mostly around the arears of patent law and exhaustion doctrine in
Japan. She holds LL.B degree from Renmin University of China, LL.M. degree in International
Economic Law from City University of Hong Kong, and also received her LL.M. degree in European
and Asian Legal Studies from University of Vienna.
Shufeng ZHENG is a research associate of Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets and the
Law in Asia (ARCIALA) of Singapore Management University and a Ph.D. student in Peking University
with a specialization in Intellectual Property law. She received LLB degree from Southwest University
of Political Science and Law, and two master degrees from Peking University and the University of
Hong Kong. Her research focuses on data protection, copyright license, secondary liabilities, and
patent protection for software-related inventions.

Xiaorui ZHU is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Law, Tsinghua University. She earned her
LL.B. from Beijing Foreign Studies University in 2015 and LL.M. from Tsinghua University in 2017. Her
research interests include copyright law, patent law, trademark and anti-unfair competition law. She
represented her research on “Legal Boundaries of Competition Online” in the conference of 7th
Global Forum on Internet Governance in 2017. She has published some research papers on the law
journals. Apart from academic activities, she once served as a judge assistant in the Supreme People’s
Court of PRC, Intellectual Property Tribunal in 2017 as well as in Beijing Intellectual Property Court in
2016.
