Biome:• A group of ecosystems with similar temperatures
and precipitation or salinity and water depth • Two Types:• Terrestrial – Land Based• Aquatic – Water Based
![Page 3: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Terrestrial Biome• Types are
determined by the amount of precipitation and the average temperature
![Page 4: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Temperature Zones:• Three temperature zones that go from warm at
the equator to cold at the polar regions
![Page 5: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Marine Biomes:• Two major classifications are marine (salt water)
and freshwater
![Page 6: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Tropical Rain Forest• Forest in tropical
region with large amounts of rainfall
![Page 7: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Deciduous Forest:• Found in temperate
regions and characterized by broad leaf, deciduous trees
![Page 8: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Coniferous Forest• Forest closer to the
poles, characterized by evergreens, sometimes called or similar to the taiga
![Page 9: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Savannas:• Found in or just
outside tropical regions with precipitations mostly occurring over a period of a couple months
![Page 10: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Tundra:• Treeless plan that is
frozen most of the year and gets little rainfall
![Page 11: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Desert:• An arid region with
little to no precipitation, can be hot or cold
![Page 12: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Oceans:• Open ocean, deep
water and high salinity
![Page 13: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Coral Reefs:• Coastal ocean,
shallow water, and high salinity
![Page 14: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Estuaries:• Regions where salt
water meets freshwater, like the Chesapeake Bay
![Page 15: Biomes](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56816716550346895ddb8410/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Freshwater:• Includes ponds,
streams, rivers, and lakes
