General Notes

• Must be toughened to achieveoptimum activation

• Avoid all direct contact with silicone(sealants, sprays, suckers, gloves).• Always position the SGG BIOCLEANcoating on the outside of the doubleglazed unit, with the SGGCOOL-LITE STcoating facing the cavity (face 2).

• Ensure that SGG BIOCLEANCOOL-LITE STis installed with the self-cleaningcoating facing the exterior of thebuilding and the solar control coatingtowards the interior.• Use pre-formed dry gaskets (EPDM)where at all possible.• The glass must be thoroughlycleaned when all site work hasbeen completed.

• SGG BIOCLEAN COOL-LITE ST mustbe installed vertically or in aninclined position.• To activate the coating, the glassmust be exposed to natural light forseveral days.• For more details please refer to theinstallation guidelines (Document B2)and the list of recommended productsfor use with SGG BIOCLEAN.

SGG BIOCLEAN does not need to becleaned as frequently as conventionalglass. However, it is not a "maintenancefree" glass. The performance of theself-cleaning action can varydepending on the amount and typeof dirt, total exposure to light andrain the glass will receive and theincline of the window.• Should the glass require cleaningthis can be done by simply rinsingwith soft water.

• For stubborn marks use warmsoapy water or a standard windowcleaning product and soft, cleancloth or sponge.• Do not clean with sharp or abrasiveobjects such as razors, wire woolor knives.• Do not use abrasive cleaners or‘water-repellent’ cleaning productswhich may form a film on the glass.• For further details please refer tothe maintenance guidelines(Document B1).

SGG BIOCLEAN COOL-LITE ST is adual-coated self-cleaning glass witha high performance solar controlcoating on face 2.

The SGG BIOCLEAN self-cleaning coatingis fully integrated into the surface ofthe glass, ensuring a high level ofdurability. This also means that the

hydrophilic and photocatalytic propertieswill last the lifetime of the window.

The SGG COOL-LITE ST coating is appliedto face 2 by the cathodic sputtering ofmetal oxides in a vacuum. This solarcontrol coating is also very robust andoffers excellent processing flexibililtyand ease of handling.

SGG BIOCLEAN - Step 1 : Photocatalysis

Exposure to the UV rays present in daylight triggersthe decomposition of organic dirt and causes thesurface of the glass to turn hydrophilic.

SGG BIOCLEAN - Step 2 : Hydrophilic Action

Water (or rain) forms a sheet of water across thesurface of the glass and rinses away broken-downorganic dirt and mineral material.
