Not all supplements are equalTake vitamin C for instance. Fatty acids - The essential fatty acids (EFAs) omega-3 and 6 are so called as they cannot be made by the body and must be obtained from diet. Omega-3 oils are found in oily fish and omega-6 in nuts and seeds, so it’s not always easy to get the right balance through diet alone. An EFA supplement can ensure you get enough of these vital nutrients.

BioCare’s EFAs such as Mega EPA and OmegaCare are produced to the highest standards of purity from wild fish which minimises contaminants. We include antioxidants to preserve the oils so they stay fresh.

Probiotics - Probiotics are the ‘friendly’ bacteria that live in the gut and have a positive effect on health generally. Probiotic bacteria help to digest foods and support the immune system. But it’s important to choose a good probiotic that is potent and scientifically researched. BioCare’s Bio-Acidophilus range contains the unique LAB4 complex consisting of Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum and Bifidobacterium lactis. These well known strains are the same as those resident in the human gut; they’re safe, resistant to stomach acid and stick to the gut wall where they are needed.

Antioxidants - Antioxidants protect our bodies from the free radicals we produce as a by-product of our metabolism. The body has natural mechanisms to protect against free radicals, but if produced in excessive amounts they can damage cells. Add in to the mix poor diet, stress and pollution and the amount of free radicals can be even higher.

Antioxidants exist naturally in foods as vitamins, minerals and plant based substances called phytochemicals. Eating fresh fruit and vegetables provides antioxidants but a supplement with a good level of antioxidants such as BioCare’s Mixed Ascorbates and One A Day can be a really useful support to the diet.
