Introducing a Sulfur Selective Media
Biocarb Ox
Biocarb Ox. Description
• Combines a premium quality wood-based activated carbon in conjunction with a proprietary blend of catalytically active inorganic phases.
• Extraordinarily high H2S removal capacity which out performs any other control media on the market today (80 kg H2S/100 kg media) .
• Performs very well against other acidic gases such as sulphur dioxide (SO2) and hydrogen chloride (HCl).
• Shows a remarkable efficiency at adsorbing some VOCs that may be present in the gas stream.
Biocarb Ox. H2S Abatement Mechanism
• H2S is catalytically oxidized to elemental sulphur (S) in the active sites of metal oxides.
• Sulphur migrates and builds up in the micropores of the activated carbon phase.
• Metal oxides are available again to oxidize new H2S molecules.
In addition…
• Biocarb Ox does not convert H2S to sulphuric acid (H2SO4), which may lead to equipment corrosion problems.

Biocarb Ox. Advantages
• Low pressure drop to gas flows, due to the nominal pellet diameter (4 mm).
• Efficient on variable inlet conditions. Copes well with spike concentrations of H2S into the hundreds of ppm.
• Does not need to undergo long term conditioning prior to being put into operation.
• In contrast to impregnated carbons, the exceptionally high sulphur loading is not affected even in the presence of high CO2 levels.
Biocarb Ox. Advantages
• Spent media is considered a non-hazardous waste and thus may be taken to the local landfill.
• Safe to handle and use. It does not require frequent change outs or time consuming regenerating processes.
• The unusually high ignition temperature (420 ºC) minimizes the risk of bed fire.
Biocarb Ox. Applications
• Wastewater treatment plants
• Refineries
• Sewage plants
• Pulp and paper mills
• Pumping stations
• Sludge holding tanks
• Composting facilities
