Winter Carnival 2019
2
What’s On:
Last Day Term 2 Fri 5th July
First Day Term 3 Tue 23rd July
I cannot believe that term 2 is coming to an end – the
time has just flown by!
Semester One Reports and 3 Way Conferences
Semester One reports were emailed to families on
Monday. There was a centralised system glitch and
some families did not receive their children’s report. I
have resent those I am aware of. If you did not receive
your child’s report in your inbox, check your junk/spam
email box and if it is not there, please contact the
school and I will resend it to you.
A huge thank you to all our families that took the
opportunity to meet with teachers to discuss student
progress and achievement in semester one, and
participate in goal setting for semester two. We had
86% of families attend 3 way conferences – this is
amazing. If you were unable to attend, please contact
your child’s teacher to arrange an alternate time to
meet. What a supportive school community and
dedicated staff we have – no wonder Bindoon Primary
School is such a wonderful school.
Winter Carnival
On Friday 21 June, students from year four to six
travelled to Bullsbrook College to represent our school
at the annual Winter Carnival in netball, soccer and
AFL. Congratulations to all those who attended. We
were not able to bring back any trophies this year, but
your children displayed exemplary behaviour and
sportpersonship. They reflected our behaviour
expectations throughout the day and should be very
proud of their efforts. Thank you to staff and parents
who assisted on the day.
School Dress Code
Thank you for taking on board the message in the
last newsletter – it is wonderful to see students
consistently and proudly wearing the appropriate winter
uniform.
NAIDOC week
On Monday and Tuesday students participated in a
variety of activities to celebrate NAIDOC. They looked
amazing in their Reconciliation t-shirts and reported that
really enjoyed working in their multiage groups. A huge
thank you to our senior students who looked after the
younger students in their groups and ensured that they
were in the right place at the right time. Thank you to
staff who arranged the activities to engage the students.
Thank you also to Cindy Bin Omar for her organisation
of the day, as well as organising our Reconciliation Day
and the Moorditj Mob Dance Troop.
Staffing
Thank you to Taryn Willock who has acted as my
deputy for the last five weeks. You did a wonderful job
and I hope you learned lots from the experience. Taryn
will be returning to the year five class at the start of term
3.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Aimee
Ball who has relieved in the year one class, while Katy
Fulker (Harding) has been on long service leave, and
Kay Lambourne who has relieved in the year five class,
while Taryn has been acting deputy. It has been
wonderful to have you both on our staff.
Glen Bewick will be returning as Principal in term 3 and
I will return to the deputy role.
Kindergarten Enrolments
Please remember to enrol your children for
Kindergarten in 2020, if they turn four by 30 June 2020.
Enjoy the school holidays and stay safe, warm and
healthy. Staff returns on 22 July for a school
development day and we will welcome students back
on Tuesday 23 July.
