MANILA -- Antonio Tiu, a businessman accused of being a dummy to hide Vice President Jejomar Binay's alleged unexplained wealth, has promised to attend the next hearing of a subcommittee investigating Binay for corruption. Tiu and five other resource persons the Blue Ribbon committee earlier cited in contempt and ordered arrested for snubbing the subcommittee's probe have sent letters making a promise to attend the hearing. ''I hereby undertake, as a sign of utmost good faith, that I shall attend the Senate investigation hearing on 28 May 2015,'' Tiu said in her letter addressed to the Blue Ribbon committee. Senators who make up the subcommittee have accused Tiu of fronting for Binay to hide the Vice President's ownership of an estate in Rosario, Batangas. The Court of Appeals has frozen Tiu's bank accounts, as well as those of Binay and his other alleged dummies and associates, while they are being investigated. Aside from Tiu, Makati officials Engr. Line dela Peña, Engr. Mario Badillo, Vissia Marie Aldon, Tomas Lopez, and Danilo Villas have also submitted written pledges to attend the next hearing. The Senate, meanwhile, has so far failed to find 11 other individuals who have standing arrest warrants for not showing up at the probe. From the alleged overpricing of the Makati City Hall Building II and other infrastructure projects in Makati, the subcommittee investigation has since covered other issues involving Binay, including his supposed ownership of properties and possession of wealth hidden through dummies.
