  • Mohamed Hashim KhaterManager, BIM Management Department ECG

    Consultant ArchitectAIA International associate

Autodesk Certified, Revit and AutoCADOver 22 years’ experience in Architecture/Engineering industry

Over 12 years in BIM applications and practical experience “Revit, AutoCAD Architecture, MEP, Navisworks, Dynamo, Revit API”

Hashim graduated from Cairo University, 1997. And joined Zuhair Fayez Partnership “ZFP” for 13 Years as an architect, then Team leader, and he created

CAD and Revit Development Department for CAD and BIM automation, in 2009 he created the first BIM unit and established ZFP BIM system standards,

Then he Joined genesis Engineering Consultants “GEC” as a technical Manager and utilized his Architecture and Engineering Technical skills in integration with BIM experience and developed advanced BIM System,

In 2012 he joined ECG as a manager of Engineering software department, then he assigned as manager of BIM Management department, Now he is utilizing his experience in creating the most advanced BIM system

using API’s, Dynamo, Cloud solution, VR, and AI.

  • 2. BIM uses and targets• Modelling all “3D” Elements with the required Information “LOD 300”• Design Reviews “ Revit, Navisworks, and Dynamo”• Resolving all Coordination issues at the Design models before construction• Producing the IFC Sheets• Accurate BOQ Automatic Generation “5D”• Shop Drawings Generation from the model “LOD 350”• Construction Simulation “4D”• Record Information Modelling for Facility Management “7D”

  • 3. BIM process at design stage• Paperless Process• No CAD files• Revit families with its parameters• Revit Templates including BOQ schedules• Auto Generation / Auto Formatting BOQ • Visual Validation “In-Line Review”• Interference Checks using Navisworks

  • 4. BIM at Construction stage• Preparing BIM Execution Plan “Prototype, and Adaptation”• Compare the IFC Model Against Shop Drawings Model “BIM 360”• Ensure extracting the PDF sheets from Revit Model “No 2D CAD Lines”• BOQ sheet from the Revit model including schedules• Coordination using Navisworks criteria• 4D Simulation for each building• Implementing the client Modifications at each type• Uploading the approved package for Site supervision Engineers

  • 5. BIM Challenges• Paperless process• No AutoCAD• No Common Data Environment “CDE”• Each unit has different survey points• Client modifications for each unit• Most Of Contractors have no BIM Experts• Steel Reinforcement on Revit needs high Workstation configuration • AIA-BIMForum LOD include high Detailing Level• LOD 400 – Fabrication is Excluded

  • Each type has its own level and infrastructure utilities

  • BIM Violation Samples

    Changing in Substructure

Using Detail lines instead of Model Elements

Using AutoCAD for sheet representation and Revit for Modeling

  • 6. BIM at Next Stage “Facility Management”• Preparing Asset Information Requirements “AIR”

    • Parameters• Attachments “Warranty, Certificates, Operation Manuals, Technical Data,….”

    • Hiring FM Software• LOD 500 preparation• Preparing the validation Criteria of “Record Models approvals”• Apply modifications for each unit
