I grew up on the family sheep station and wanted to invest in the seafood industry in an environment where I could apply my farming skills in a different way. Like farming of any kind, the better your treat your stock as it grows, the more successful your business will be.

When it comes to oyster farming, if you have good water then you are off to a great start. We have six different oyster lease sites in Smoky Bay that we can move the stock between as it grows in order to achieve the desired result. There are leases used for producing a nice round juvenile, as well as good growing areas and terrific fattening regions.

Due to the low rainfall there is very little opportunity for pollutants to enter the water, making it a pristine environment for growing oysters. On the way out to the oyster leases you can see wildlife everywhere – it’s just beautiful!
