I am pleased to congratulate Ms Ruth Winfield on being merit selected for the position of Principal of Vincentia High School. Ms Winfield will begin Term 4 at Vincentia, a South Coast comprehensive high school of over 1000 students. During her time as Relieving Principal and Instructional Leader at Billabong I have received nothing but positive feedback about Ruth - particularly from teaching staff. Her expertise was quickly realised and regularly demonstrated, and I know that many staff very much valued her coaching, mentoring and guidance. A significant aspect of the Instructional Leader role is to assist the principal to lead improvement in effective teaching practice and improvement in learning outcomes for all students, as well as to analyse Page 1 school and student data, supporting the Principal in developing whole-school and classroom-level strategies to improve learning outcomes for all students. Ms Winfield has certainly fulfilled this role to a very high standard, and together the senior executive team has worked very cohesively in pursuing these outcomes. Congratulations again to Ms Winfield on this significant career achievement. I am also pleased to announce that Deputy Principal Ms Bowen will be moving into the role of Instructional Leader for Term 4 and for all of 2020, continuing to work with Head Teachers and Teachers to build instructional capacity across the school. We are currently advertising for a Deputy Principal to relieve in Ms Bowen’s substantive position.
