BILL HARDING TROPHY – Mixed Texas Scramble Men off White Tees –Ladies off Red Tees - 18 Holes. Presented by the family of the late Bill Harding This was originally awarded for a Texas Scramble team event, each team to include at least one lady golfer. In 2011, it was changed to be played for at the Bungay Mixed Open and was awarded to the overall ‘home’ winners. In 2016 it reverted back to its original format of mixed Texas scramble and played for at the start of the golfing season.


BOYCOTT SHIELD –18 Hole Par Donated in 1929 by Miss E.A.Boycott who was Ladies’ Captain in 1922. This trophy was originally played for in a bogey competition at the Whitsun meeting. Handicap limit 36 (2018)


BUNTY EKE TROPHY & MARGARET SELF CUP –18 Hole Medal The Closed Meeting was originally started when the Open Meeting became oversubscribed and members were prevented from entering. It provides a great day’s golf for members, run on similar lines to the Ladies’ Open Meeting. Two trophies are awarded: The Bunty Eke Trophy The Bunty Eke Trophy for the lowest scratch score The Margaret Self Cup for the lowest net score (Silver or Bronze Division) Donated in 1975 by Mrs Margaret Self who was Ladies’ Captain in 1975 and Ladies’ President in 1997. Players may elect to play in the morning only and there is usually a 10 Hole Greensomes competition played in the afternoon.

BUSTEED CUP & BUSTEED SCRATCH CUP –18 Hole Medal. The larger of the two cups was presented by Mrs M.A. Busteed in 1920. It was originally played for at the Summer meeting and later changed to the Spring meeting. The cup was lost in 1949, reappearing in 1969. A small silver cup also marked ‘Busteed Cup’ dated 1939, was discovered in 2007. It was decided to award the small cup for the best scratch score in this competition. CHALLENGE BOWL & SPOONS –18 Hole Medal. The challenge bowl was purchased by ladies’ section in 1975 and was originally awarded at the Open meeting, where it was last presented in 1992. It was inaugurated in 2001 in the present format as an 18 hole medal for winners of medal and designated cup competitions played during the “Bungay Ladies’ golfing year” - (1st October to 30th September) Maximum handicap 36 (2004) The Challenge Bowl qualifying competitions are detailed in the Ladies Section Handbook. Played in conjunction with the Tiny Hodgson Challenge Spoons.

CUNNINGHAM CUP –Singles Knockout Match Play. CUNNINGHAM CUP Presented in 2014 by Ann Cunningham, Ladies Captain in 1994 and 2004 and Ladies’ president from 2009 – 2011. Singles Knockout matchplay, played during the summer months (1st April to 30th September) Handicap Restriction: 0 – 20


DIANA DAVEY WINTER STABLEFORD CUP –18 Hole Stableford Presented by Mrs Diana Davey who was Ladies’ Captain in 1996. It was the first awarded as a prize for the Midsummer Madness competition and later ‘non-grannies’ competed for it following the Grannies Cup. In 2019 it was changed to a Stableford to be played for during the winter months.

Handicap limit 36 This competition follows the Grannies’ Cup and is open to those who are not eligible for the Grannies’ Cup


GRANNIES’ CUP –18 Hole Stableford Presented in 1979 by Mrs Nona West, Ladies’ Captain in 1982 This cup is for members with grandchildren Handicap limit 36


WATTS SALVER (MIXED PAIRS) –Better Ball . 4 Ball Better Ball Men 28 Ladies 36 Ladies Red tees Men White tees Presented by the family of the late Cecil & Ann Watts in 2005 and was originally awarded to the best Away Pair in the Mixed Open Greensomes Competition. This was changed in 2019 to a Mixed Pairs competition for Bungay Members only to be held in the Autumn.


LEES WATSON CUP –18 Hole Par Presented by Mr and Mrs J Lumsden in October 1972 for bogey competition 18 hole par (formerly bogey competition against par)


MAREE OWEN CUP & LADY CAPTAINS BROOCH –18 Hole Medal. Presented in 1983 by Mrs Maree Owen who was Ladies’ Captain in 1972 and Ladies’ President from 1978-1983. The Captain’s Brooch competition was added in 2012. 18 hole medal for ladies aged 60 years and older on the day of competition

The Captain’s Brooch is presented to the lady of 75 years or older who returns the lowest nett score in this competition Maximum handicap 36


MARY ROWAN ROSEBOWL –18 Hole Medal. Presented by Mrs Mary Rowan in 1997 Best net score for those not able to play the 36 holes required for the club championship Handicap limit 36 This competition was originally introduced in 1998. At the AGM in 2005 it was agreed to move it to a separate day as numbers were increasing but at the AGM in 2006 it was agreed that it should revert back to being played on Club Championship day


Mrs KEITH HARRISON CUP –36 Hole Medal played over 2 days. Presented by Mrs Keith Harrison who was Ladies’ Captain 1923-1927. It was originally played for as a 36 hole medal at the summer meeting. After the war it became an 18 hole medal but resumed to 36 holes over 2 days in 1972. 36 hole medal, played over 2 days Prize also for best 2 day eclectic score

PAST & PRESENT CAPTAINS’ SALVER –18 Hole Bogey Presented by Mrs. D. Nicholls, who was Ladies’ Captain in 1983 and Ladies’ President from 2001 to 2002, and Mrs. S. Stevens, who was Ladies’ Captain in 1984. It was first played as a bogey competition in 1984 Open only to past and present Ladies Captains Maximum handicap 36


TINY HODGSON CHALLENGE SPOONS –18 Hole Scratch Medal. Presented by Mrs L Hodgson who was Ladies’ Captain in 1948-1950 and 1970-1971

VALERIE MOORE MEMORIAL CUP –18 Hole Medal.

Presented in 1984 by Mr C Moore in memory of his late wife,

Valerie who was Ladies’ Captain in 1980. 18 hole medal Maximum handicap 36 (2006) All money raised goes to a cancer charity nominated by the Ladies’ captain

Presented by the late Joe Deacon, past President of the Club.
