Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Today’s Gospel parable speaks to generosity. In the deep of night, a sleepy friend responds to his neigh-bor’s request for food for an unexpected guest. Jesus suggests that it would be unthinkable that a friend would deny a friend in need. A friend would most certainly give what is asked and more. Through this story, Jesus illustrates God’s generosity. Good stew-ards realize the extraordinary love and graciousness with which God showers us. We need never convince God to be generous. God is already that generous friend. His abundant love bathes us in goodness. This week, prayerfully reflect on God’s generosity and what our response should be to that generosity.

Question for Children: Prayer is talking with God and
listening to God in our hearts. Where do you talk to God
and how do you listen to what God says to you?
Question for Youth: Jesus teaches us how important it
is to pray. How do you ask God for what you need? How
do you listen for his response?
Question for Adults: Jesus teaches us how to pray.
When this past week did you take the time to pray, to talk
to and listen to God?

Prayer
St. Teresa of Avila is quoted as saying, "O God, help me. How little we desire to reach Your
grandeur, Lord! How miserable we would remain if Your giving were in
conformity with our asking."
In the silence of prayer, when we enter the interior chapel of the heart.
We may not always experience the grandeur of the Lord.
At times, it seems that the answer to prayer is, "No" or Wait."
Yet, when the answer is given in a way we would never Have expected, how much more is given than asked for.
When the time is right in God's time and the want is Fulfilled for God's plan then we see the whole picture,
And we are thankful. Prayer is not just us talking to God,
But also listening to God.
