DEVELOPMENT

•The Madrid Community is developing this program Spanish-English 2012/2013 in 379 public schools.

The bilingual English Program started in 2004-2005 in 26 Public schools of Primary Education. •Later, when these pupils finalized their studies in Primary Education, they started in Secondary School studies in 32 Secondary School. •In next course 2013-2014 The Madrid Community will have 403 bilingual public schools (303 Primary school and 90 Secondary School.

OBJETIVES

•Creating a bilingual environment in whole school. •The teachers will speak always in English with pupils in Manual Arts, Geography and History, of course in English Language. •The bilingual school has a Coordinator (specialized in English language and qualified to teach other subjects in English). He supervises to Language Assistants, maintain contact with the Administrator and he has another functions.

NATIVE LANGUAGE ASSISTANTS

•Each bilingual school has at least one native language assistant. •His/her mission is helping to teachers who are involved in the programme. •They work in the school 16 hours per week. •They could work in reduce groups into the class with the idea to promote oral and writing communication and to try knowing better the English culture.

ADVANTAGES

•Spend functioning of the center are increasing. •Equipment of information and new technologies are Expanding. •The pupils have the possibility to obtain an official qualification recognized for different European Institutions.

ADVANTAGES •Feeling more intensive the learning of the foreign language. • The interest for learning different languages is growing up. •Going in depth in a new culture and new language. •The pupils are trained to live in a world where the languages are very important. •The pupils will have better professional future.
