Survey Comments:Comment ID Comment

1.1 A big help if the other Braddock Metro bikeshare is full or empty

1.2Access to metro stops is incredibly useful. Almost all of my rides either begin or end near a metro and this would make access to Braddock Road metro a lot better. Please put in a large dock (a lot of bikes), similar to the large rack Arlington has near the shops at Crystal City (near Buffalo Wild Wings)

1.3 Allowing people to be able to bike to a Metro station can significantly cut commute times and allow a bit of healthy workout. Definitely support.

1.4 Be sure structure does not impede view of pedestrians at crosswalk ahead.1.5 Because it is not close to me I will not support it at this time 1.6 Being able to bike to all Metro stations is important 1.7 better position than the other one at Braddock Rd.

1.8 Bikeshare is very much needed on this side of the station. The adjacent sidewalk is narrow. Could this station be placed closer to the entrance for Metro - near other bike parking?

1.9 BikeShare stations work well when added in consort with existing transportation nodes. Also, the existing dock at Braddock Road is very far from the station egress.

1.10 Co-location with mass transit is an excellent option 1.11 Connects bike to Metro; high volume area.1.12 easy walk up to the buses/metro.1.13 Excellent location. Existing station at Braddock is out of the way for many people using it.

1.14 Expanding capacity near Metro seems to always be a good idea. Adding a station to this side of the Metro station is good because of the people coming from Del Ray or the access trail from King St.

1.15 Extremely congested area, lots of pedestrian crosswalk activity, introducing more bike riders in the mix here would be dangerous

1.16 Going to need speed bumps as people do not stop at stop signs now--and people on bike share bikes are generally young and clueless (and not helmeted)

1.17 Good access near a Metro station.

1.18 Good location for proximity to Potomac Yard Trail/Braddock Rd, but it’s too close to the existing Braddock Rd Metro bikeshare station.

1.19 Good to have access on this side of metro where many exit.1.20 Great commuting option!1.21 Great for Metro access - encourage use of public transportation.1.22 Great location for demand. Closest to me.

1.23 Great location! Right across from a bike path along the train tracks that will take people right into Old Town.

1.24 Great option for people coming from the metro station! 1.25 Great secondary location at metro!

Rank #1 - Rating: 3.95

1. Braddock Rd Metro Station - South

1.26 Have no issue - doesn’t benefit me. If there was a stop in my neighborhood (Lynhaven - near Cora Kelly Elementary) this would be a tremendous way to get to and from the metro.

1.27 Honestly, it seems odd that there is not a bikeshare station there already-- it seems ideal.

1.28 I can imagine heavy usage warranting a second station at Braddock Rd. Metro, but if traffic doesn’t sup-port it yet then I’d prioritize the Glebe corridor and westward expansion.

1.29I currently use this station as Bikeshare and there currently is a bikeshare there. I’ve never had an issue picking up/dropping off. Seems like there are many locations opening up very close (~ 1/2 mile) from each other. Market saturation?

1.30 I don’t know what you mean by “support”. Do you mean do I think it is a good idea to have a metro sta-tion there? Or do you mean do I use it?

1.31 I still think you should put this closer to the Metro entrance. I support another rack of bikes, but this seems like a place where no one will find it.

1.32 I think all metro stations should have bike share options.1.33 I think it makes sense for all metro stations to have bike shares.1.34 I think the Station at Braddock Road Metro is good for now.

1.35 I think this would be a dangerous place for entry and exit of roadway. That is a very busy intersection. I would put it around the corner closer to the kiss and ride entry.

1.36 I think with the amount of pedestrian and vehicle traffic in this location that the addition of a bikeshare station could create a dangerous situation for everyone.

1.37 I use bikeshare to get to metro stations so this is a stop I would potentially use (and good use of underuti-lized space).

1.38 I would rather see coverage expand than add density of stations. There is a large nearby station on the other side of the Metro station.

1.39 I’d use this station a lot. I do use the other stations nearby though, but not as convenient.

1.40 I’m not sure this adds much to the value of Bikeshare since the other metro station is less than a block away.

1.41 Is there one near the station already?1.42 Isn’t there already a bike share station at Braddock Road Metro??

1.43 It would be helpful to have another station there for those of us that approach the Metro station from Rosemont and Del Ray.

1.44 It would be nice but there is already one so close on the other side of the metro that it may be a waste of money.

1.45 Love it! For folks coming from this angle to the metro, it’s super convenient not to have to bike past the metro and then walk back to it. Strong yes on this!!!!

1.46 Makes sense

1.47 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

1.48 More convenient location to Braddock Road Metro from Del Ray/Potomac Park Trail than the current location on the north side of the Metro Station.

1.49 Near a metro and populated area1.50 near neighborhoods1.51 Need bikeshare stations near metro stations and near bike facilities (ie Potomac Ave Trail)

Page 11: Bikeshare Survey Appendix - AlexandriaVA.Gov€¦ · shopping.” Staff Revisions: None. Rank #6 - Station #12 - Potomac Ave & Reed Ave Major Comments: • “Either this station

1.52 North station seems far removed, hidden, and a bit dangerous (especially at night)

1.53Not a fan of this program. Waste of tax dollars--we don’t need to subsidize bike riders. I have never seen anyone use them. If we have to have them this is a more appropriate place (public transportation sta-tion).

1.54 Not useful if it comes at the expense of other potential stations1.55 Perfect as its closer to an existing bike path1.56 Probably a good location next to the metro to increase accessibility. 1.57 Provide an alternative access point to the Metro station.1.58 redundant1.59 Station already served by Bikeshare1.60 Takes up (removes) open space. Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpayers1.61 The CaBi station north of the metro can be difficult to find, and needs better signage1.62 the current station is too far away from the metro, this station would help people coming from the west!

1.63 The existing site for the location is on the north (and across the street) from the station’s parking lot. Adding this makes sense for all the users to/fro Del Ray and Old Town.

1.64 The intersections here are very busy

1.65 The other Braddock station is one of the ones I use the most. I feel silly riding past my destination. I wish WMATA would cooperate more. We give then plenty of money!

1.66 The station to the north often has many or few bikes. There isn’t a very good balance. Maybe there is a way to keep it better supplied, and not have to add another station so close.

1.67 There are already a lot of options in this area...1.68 There are parts of Alexandria without bikeshare locations yet that could use them. 1.69 There is a location not far from there

1.70 There is already a bikeshare station at this metro stop. I don’t know much about it’s capacity and overfill-ing at peak travel times.

1.71 There is already a station at this metro stop.

1.72 There is an existing Bikeshare station very close. If we move that one to this new location then I would give it a 5

1.73 There’s already a bikeshare station at Braddock Metro!1.74 There’s already a bikeshare station at Braddock Rd Metro. No need to add more

1.75 There’s already a bikeshare station at this metro stop; prefer to prioritize expanding service over deepen-ing it.

1.76 They already have a station super close to this spot. It makes no sense to have 2 stations within sight of each other.

1.77 This is a really busy intersection. I think crosswalks would be needed in addition to this station!1.78 this location is ideal because cyclist wont be mixing with passengers boarding/deboarding buses1.79 This location is more accessible for folks living west of the railroad tracks.

1.80 This more convenient location needs more docks, 15 will not do it. The current Braddock Rd is also the busiest the city, this more convenient location will become very busy too.

1.81 This placement is much safer location for those coming from Del Ray. Good choice!

Page 12: Bikeshare Survey Appendix - AlexandriaVA.Gov€¦ · shopping.” Staff Revisions: None. Rank #6 - Station #12 - Potomac Ave & Reed Ave Major Comments: • “Either this station

1.82 This station would make it easier to bike to the metro when coming from the west or south. Biking on the road to the current station at Braddock Road can be dangerous with all the buses and turning cars.

1.83 This will make using bikeshare to Braddock quicker for me as I will not have to go past the station to dock the bike

1.84 This would make it much easier to bike from Braddock rd metro - I don’t like to use the other station closer to the offices

1.85 Too much traffic1.86 Very convenient for Metro riders.

1.87We need trail enhancements all over Arlington and along the Potomac in DC before we add capacity. Many of the trails have not been upgraded in years yet capacity is growing every year. Many bike bridges are old, like the one near Rosevelt Island.

1.88 While I don’t see much building density in the photo, which may mean few people live or work nearby, I like how the station is located near a Metro station.

1.89 Why do we need another one at this metro station?

1.90 Why should there be bicycles? You are pushing bicycles. Was there a demand for it? At what cost to the taxpayer? Including those who don’t ride and don’t want to. Should they be taxed as well?

1.91 why take green space?

2.1 Again, as above, what do you mean by “Support” a station. I think it is a good idea to have stations. 2.2 again, why take green space? 2.3 Also a great spot - love adding more BikeShares near the Braddock area. 2.4 Dangerous intersection2.5 Good choice! Close to existing bike infrastructure. 2.6 Good connector point between stations

2.7 Good fill-in station for Commonwealth Ave corridor, making a station available every 3-4 blocks. I person-ally don’t have use for this station.

2.8 Good location; easy to access, not congested. 2.9 Great location along bike-friendly Commonwealth Ave

2.10 I don’t know the area well enough to say.

2.11 I don’t like the idea of cutting into the green space. This would certainly be a good spot for residential ac-cess, though it is not near any other destinations.

2.12 I find if highly unlikely that this would be a highly used station. 2.13 I never see people riding these bicycles.

2.14I think there should be more extensions like this that extend Braddock and King Street Metro Stations to the North West! Very visible location and on a high traffic street which could use more people biking rather than driving! Like this location very much

2.15 I would be a bit scared of safety at this intersection. 2.16 id prefer not to impeded on the existing park space. locate it caticorner2.17 I’m not familiar with this spot.2.18 Indifferent, this station is not on my route.

2.19 It would be so great to have a bikeshare station located between Russell + Braddock Road Metro to help with those of us who commute to the metro!

2.20 Key intersection2.21 like it nearer to Braddock metro

2.22 Major intersection -- difficult starting point for a bike ride. Two existing stations just north and just south on Commonwealth

2.23 meh2.24 middle of nowhere

2.25 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

2.26 More coverage here looks good, but I’m inclined to think it’s less urgent than the Glebe corridor and westward expansion (uninformed by data!)

2.27 More West End stations are needed.

2.28 nice green space, wouldn’t want to see it used for bike share (and not a location I’d be likely to utilize).2.29 No need for a bike station in a residential neighborhood where it will see limited customers2.30 Provides good spacing but sidewalk is very narrow. Pad should be as permeable as possible. 2.31 Same answer as before, it’s just a few blocks between two stations. 2.32 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.2.33 Seems to me private bikes predominate in this area.

2.34 Someone was KILLED at this intersection and there is a bike share 2 blocks away at Grape & Bean. This is a terrible location. WTF?

2.35 Support the station, but this continues to be a dangerous intersection.2.36 Takes away dog park space2.37 Takes up (removes) open space. Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpayers2.38 That’s a dangerous intersection, plan carefully.

2.39 The city should invest in a bike lane here before a bike share station. Someone literally died here less than 1 year ago

2.40 The location is not accessible to me so will not support at this time. 2.41 The use by the area and commuters shouldn’t warrant a bike share.2.42 There have been accidents at this intersection. Might need to have ‘no turn on red’ signs.2.43 There’s already a bikeshare station at Braddock Metro!

2.44 These bikes are a commercial element is what is a more residential area. Not needed and not attractive-detracts from the residential feel and property values.

2.45 This area is lacking stations and connects well with the rest of delray. not sure how many homes would use it - but may help

2.46 This is fairly close to the station at Commonwealth & Oak.

2.47 This is the intersection where a pedestrian was killed last year. Very heavy traffic, nowhere for bikes to merge into traffic safely.

2.48 Too much traffic at that intersection. Not a safe spot for bikers to be slowing down traffic.

2.49 While I don’t see much building density in the photo, which may mean few people live or work nearby, I like how the station is located near a bike route. The sharrow shows the bike route.

2.50While this looks like it is filling a hole in a map, there is not enough density to really support a station here because there are only single family homes nearby. In contrast, the Monroe/Commonwealth station has apartments and businesses, and single family homes.

Comment ID Comment3.1 All libraries should have bikeshare stations. 3.2 being near a library is GREAT! 3.3 central Old Town needs something3.4 Co-location with city services is excellent option 3.5 Don’t know the area.3.6 Don’t use3.7 Fully support Bikeshare at all city libraries.

3.8 Good for the library but also the general area in Old Town. Takes advantage of a plot of land that shouldn’t disrupt anyone.

3.9 Good idea: access to/from library.

3.10 good location entrance to the parking lot on the left has very poor sightline into street - would be good to restrict parking back from the lot to insure bikes entering street can be seen

3.11 Great access to library3.12 Great idea!3.13 I like the idea of having bikeshare connect to community services like a library or rec center.3.14 I would have used this station on a bikeshare ride I took to tutor at that library a few weeks ago.3.15 I’m on the fence bc I’m not sure how close to another existing bike share this would be.3.16 I’m surprised that Alexandria hasn’t already placed a station at every library branch.3.17 It would be great to connect all the libraries.3.18 Libraries are great station locations.3.19 Makes sense to bike to the library and fills in a bit of a gap in Old Town.

3.20 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

3.21 More stations are needed in this part of town3.22 No clue about this one. 3.23 No preference3.24 not attractive in this location3.25 Not close to me 3.26 Nuts.

3.27 Old Town still does not have enough docks to make a powerful network. This is a smart place to put a dock.

3.28 Pad should be permeable.

3.29 Potential for conflict with pedestrians because bikeshare users will need to ride on the sidewalk in order to access station; should be on street

3.30 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.3.31 Seems like it would be a good mid-town spot3.32 Stations should serve ALL Alexandria libraries.3.33 Streets too narrow3.34 Takes up (removes) open space. Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpayers

3.35 There are already bike share stations three blocks away which people can easily walk. It would be more important to extend into areas that don’t have any bike share yet!

3.36 There’s no room in front of the library now for people who own bikes to park them, this is too crowded a spot.

3.37 This general vicinity needs a bikeshare station. The library seems like a logical, central, safe, popular spot for CB.

3.38 This location is needed.

3.39 This one makes more sense, as it is at a destination that does not yet have a bikeshare, and could draw people to the use of the library.

3.40 We bikeshare and use the library.

3.41 We have enough of these bike stations and this not a ideal location for them--people wont walk to the library to get a bike to ride elsewhere.

3.42 Would be an excellent location for those looking to use the library.

Comment ID Comment4.1 Access to a day at the park is good.

4.2 An excellent place for bringing CaBi to West Alexandria. I might prefer closer to the Holmes Run Trail, but this may be better for neighborhood residents. And closer to Van Dorn Metro.

4.3 Better idea, more open, etc. Again, speed bumps to slow down the people who only slow at stop signs and keep rolling through them when turning.

4.4 Big population there4.5 Bikeshare needed in Landmark area, where many do not own cars4.6 Close to Holmes Run bike trail!

4.7 curious to see if this works, near duke st, a tough place to ride , but there is a walking bridge that may already be a bike path

4.8 Definitely need to expand into West End. Seems like a good location (near residences and several desti-nations) and not intruding on parking or sidewalks.

4.9 Do not give up park land4.10 Don’t know the area.4.11 Expansion is needed west of the city!4.12 Good location at edge of public park with access to Holmes Run Trail4.13 Great for me

4.14 Great idea, but we really need to make progress connection Cameron Station to Van Dorn metro and to Old Town

4.15 Great location. 4.16 Great to see stations proposed on the west end of the city4.17 I am in favor of expanding the network out to this area, but indifferent as to where the locations area.

4.18I don’t feel strongly one way or the other about this station. I bike a lot, but Ben Brennan is not a typi-cal destination for me. Putting a station there might bring more people to & from the park without cars, though, which sounds like a benefit.

4.19 I like this location. It’s close to Holmes Run and will help the retail within Cameron Station.

4.20 I love it being at Ben Brennan park, getting out connected to the bike trails and to the West End will help expand connectivity and accessibility in our area.

4.21 I support this 100%

4.22

I would have preferred a location closer to the center of Ben Brenman Park, yet this is the closest to the park and also the Holmes Run Trail. If anyone will use this location to cross Duke St, the safest route is actually to cross east over the pedestrian bridge between Ben Brenman and Tarleton Parks and head northwest on the HR trail and cross under Duke St near the 4600 Condo building.

4.23 Idiotic.4.24 Im sure this is needed, but I would not use it.

4.25 Indifferent, this station is not on my route.

4.26 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

4.27 Nice connection to trails and an expansion into a new part of the community4.28 No opinion - I don’t live in or bike to this area.4.29 No preference

4.30 No stations around close to a park which people want to access recreationally and thus may be more likely to use bike share to do so! Like this one!

4.31

NO WAY - this will hinder cyclist actually using the bike path. It is NOT safe location because the user of the bike share bikes will be pulling bikes out ACROSS the path which happens to be on the things that the park service signs say NOT TO DO - Don’t stop in the middle path. And to get the bike share bike out that is exactly what they have to do. SAFETY FIRST and follow the riding rules of the bike path. GEEZ.

4.32 Not familiar with this one, but I’d offer my support on principle because I think public transportation is important.

4.33 No-this is a residential area. The bike stations should be in more commercial areas.4.34 perfect for Cameron Station residents

4.35 Perfect for Cameron Station residents to get to the Eisenhower Metro station. I was wondering why we didn’t have a Bike-share here. Really happy to see that it is coming.

4.36 Perfect place for the families, the farmer’s market and connecting the West End to Old Town.4.37 pretty far from other stations and no good bike route to link with4.38 Recreational destination; no other stations nearby.4.39 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.4.40 Seems fine. Not much equity in this location. 4.41 Stations should be near all city farmers market. 4.42 Takes up (removes) open space. Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpayers4.43 The bike path should be widened slightly so cyclists passing through the area can get by.

4.44The largest source of CaBi riders is to go the last mile to the Metro. Suggest putting this off until Van Dorn Metro gets its own station because there are not enough nearby stations to generate significant ridership otherwise.

4.45 The system should expand in this direction, and several stations should show up together.4.46 There are none in this area

4.47 This and one at Duke and Holmes Run Trail might get people to use a bikeshare to get to the Foxchase shopping center.

4.48 This area has many bike riders here anyway and they do not respect the walkers on the trails. They do not shout out, “On you left.”

4.49 This ark along with Beatly library should be highly considered. There is lots of traffic which could be re-duced and bike paths nearby.

4.50 This has been needed for a long time

4.51 This park is not centrally located- easily accessible for commuters or people who need a bike to run er-rands

4.52 this will help with the last-mile for residents to get to the metro.

5.1 Again I like having this station here but not sure why it can’t be closer to the park entrance? It seems like it would get more use being where more people are.

5.2 Again, neutral because I assume it is fine. 5.3 Always nice to have a stations near trails

5.4 Can it be on the other side of that patch, facing the softball field? Otherwise it ruins the beauty of that park.

5.5 Definitely need to expand in the West End. I am not very familiar with this area, but it seems tucked away/hidden.

5.6 Don’t give up grass for dogs5.7 Don’t know the area.5.8 Don’t think it’s necessary5.9 Great location for West End.

5.10 Great location!5.11 Great to see stations proposed on the west end of the city.

5.12 I am in favor of expanding the network out to this area, but indifferent as to where the locations area. 5.13 I don’t know the area at all. I am generally in favor of more bikeshare in Alexandria, however.

5.14

I have spoken with many townhouse owners who live next to where you suggest locating the bike share. They would like it moved further from their back yards/balconies, either (1) closer to the park and the school or at the intersection of the linear path and Somervelle -- the most logical location because it would have the greatest access to CS residents and Brenman park visitors.

5.15 I like one at the west end of Cameron Station, but this out of the way location is not visible at all.

5.16 I support this provides the station is on the grass. Again, the path is narrow in this area so we don’t want the station encroaching on the path.

5.17 If your goal is to only appease to the residents of cameron station, this is good. 5.18 Indifferent, this station is not on my route.5.19 Makes more sense when we get ped bridge to metro.

5.20 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

5.21 More in the West! Hooray!5.22 Move it closer to the school and not in Cameron Station neighborhood

5.23 Move to northwest corner of the school at 497 Cameron Station Blvd south of sidewalk. Better general location in open view, especially at night.

5.24 Much too close to residences that are already dealing with Rail yard traffic.

5.29 Not much demand; let’s wait until development is further along on Pickett. Place a station in front of Modera Tempo.

5.30 On a trail so yes

5.31Overall comment - couldn’t we locate these bikeshares on current cement structures instead of destroy-ing the grassy areas? There are plenty of places around the chosen locations where you could locate on concrete or other “non-grass” places which would be just as convenient.

5.32 Residential area too, but on the bike path, so might be alright. 5.33 Right on a bike trail, good plan.5.34 Same comment as previous West End location - not visible from Duke St.

5.35 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.5.36 Seems fine. Not much equity in this location.5.37 Site is out of the way and won’t be seen by newer users5.38 Super. We need more stations by the WEST END

5.41 The system should expand in this direction, and several stations should show up together.5.42 There are others closer to me. Will not support at this time

5.43This is much too close to a the residences of Cameron Station and would be an eyesore for residents. This could easily be put up over on the side of the baseball fields closer to the park and playground. I absolutely DO NOT want this rack placed in this spot.

5.44 This is too residential.5.45 This isn’t Holland. Don’t force it.

5.46 This location has very little nearby it and isn’t very accessible. A better location would be on the other side of Boothe Park , closer to the commercial destinations.

5.47This location is in the back of residential housing along a narrow path used entirely by pedestrians including family strollers, children. etc. This will result in a very dangerous environment for children and families.

5.48 This location is way too close to the home on the left. Move this proposed site further from the homes in Cameron Station!

5.49 This location would help anyone trying to get close to Tucker Elem School and adds connectivity to the proposed station at Ben Brenman Park.

5.50 This station would better serve the community if located nearer the ball field and/or Samuel Tucker Elementary School

6.1A Bikeshare should be placed in this area, but I’m not sure about the proposed location. I find this loca-tion too tight to put a Bikeshare station. People go fast around there, especially in peak hours! Many people that work in this area commute to work by bike. I was one of them.

6.2 A station is nearby on Madison; this property may redevelop soon. Not a priority for this cycle.6.3 Adding stations along MVT good idea, but coordinate with NPS wrt Gravelly Point station.

6.4 Again a station put where it will see limited customers. Even though it’s along a bikepath. a bike station stucdk out behind a hotel near their trash dumpsters is just more urban blight.

6.5 Along a trail - good access to trail riding.6.6 Aren’t there enough red bikes in Old Town already?

6.7 Good location but not very far from existing Fairfax and Madison station and it looks like people pulling bikes out could collide with trail users

6.8 Good location to take the MT Vernon trail6.9 Good to have access on commuter and weekend trail points.

6.10 Great idea to make bikeshare work better in Old Town

6.11 Great idea, but this will cause a ton of headaches for trail users since the station will take up valuable trail space. Could closer to N. Union St, a few feet from the trail work?

6.12 Highly support more stations right along the Mt. Vernon trail6.13 How obsolete.

6.14 How wide is the path in this area? This is a heavily trafficked path so my concern would be disrupting the flow of cyclists.

6.15 I don’t know what you guys are trying to accomplish with these questions. 6.16 I don’t know where this place is-who would go there to get a bike.

6.17 I like the general location but it is way too close to the trail. Noobs taking out bikes from the station will shut down the trail.

6.18 I ride my bike by here daily - would anyone know a bikeshare rack was located here? Seems pretty re-mote.

6.19 I run this route weekly. It does not seem to be a very visible location, which might lead to low usage. 6.20 I think stations near bike trails are almost always a good idea.

6.21 I think this is a great place. Potentially could locate closer to the park near the boathouse? But I like hav-ing one around that area.

6.22 I would rather see coverage expand than add density of stations.

6.23I’d like more Bikeshare along the Mt. Vernon Trail and in N. Old Town, but it seems like this location would create a choke point along an already narrow trail. Would Canal Center support a station on their property?

6.24 I’m inclined to prioritize the Glebe corridor and westward expansion. Still voting higher than a few others in the hope that it can reduce car traffic crossing MVT!

6.25 I’m not really sure this expands the network.

6.26 Indifferent, this station is not on my route; however thinking that tourist who stay at these hotels would find this useful!

6.27 It can get congested along this stretch of the MVT.6.28 Like the idea of a station in the area - but path does not seem wide enough

6.29Maybe--pretty bad spot in terms of people already using the trail--it’s narrow once the bike stand is put in and again, these are the clueless riders against the experienced ones on the trail not to mention the fat strollers/walker crowd that uses this section heavily.

6.30 Might not be a ton of space here, but it’s good.

6.31 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

6.32 More appropriate area for these stations.

6.33 Move to NW corner of Montgomery St. and Mt. Vernon Trial. More centrally located to hotel, park, and businesses.

6.34 no opinion6.35 No preference

6.36No problem with the station but this trail is busy and gets narrow at this point. The picture makes it look like traffic will only be able to get by single file (i.e. 2 bikes going in opposite directions could not pass in front of this station. It may be better located on the other side of the street possibly parallel to the plaza.

6.37

NO WAY - this will hinder cyclist actually using the bike path. It is NOT safe location because the user of the bike share bikes will be pulling bikes out ACROSS the path which happens to be on the things that the park service signs say NOT TO DO - Don’t stop in the middle path. And to get the bike share bike out that is exactly what they have to do. SAFETY FIRST and follow the riding rules of the bike path. GEEZ.

6.38 North old town needs more stations, this is a good option. would it interfere with the bike path?6.39 North Old Town needs something6.40 Not close to me.

6.41 Not enough ROOM for bicyclists like me to get by - station not taking into account room for bikeshare rid-ers to manuever

6.42 on bike path , people usually ride their biks to get there, maybe closer to torpedo factory6.43 Only people already on bikes will every know where this is. Doesn’t make sense.

6.44

Overall this part of town is good because of residences, offices and trail access. But this exact location doesn’t seem good - station activity could be chaotic on the trail. Is that a dumpster in the photo? Do trucks travel back there? If so, it would not be wide enough. This area is already a little chaotic because of the way the trail splits at the tracks, so it could lead to more conflict.

6.45 People who use the hotels will find this dock useful.6.46 Placement looks hard to find.6.47 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.

6.48 Serves the Hotel and many office buildings. Plus provides a checkpoint for bikers to continue farther north on the Mt. Vernon trail

6.49 There is a location just two blocks of on Madison - don’t think this is really needed here. More pressing needs at other lcoations.

6.50 There is not enough room here for a bikeshare station and trail; also, there may be issues with garbage trucks accessing the dumpster shown in the picture

6.51 There is one close by at United Way. The North end of Old Town North needs more Stations6.52 This is a good location b/c of the trail, but no one really lives over here. 6.53 This is a popular spot for people to bike. Also it could be utilized by the near by hotel, and office building.6.54 This section is very walkable and not a destination for most people. The only plus is that it’s on the trail.

6.55

Too close to congested part of Mt Vernon Bike Trail This area is spot with pedestrians, runners, commut-ing bikers, strollers, and business activity. The “trail” partly used by the hotel for dumpster access. Dock-ing and departing bikes would hamper pedestrian and bike through traffic. Th general vicinity is good, but this spot is bad.

6.56 Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpayers6.57 Unlikely to be fully utilized at this site.

6.58 We would love more stations on the trail! Especially if it meant we could get to mt Vernon by cabi...or the Washington sailing marina...Or Roosevelt island...or gravelly point

6.59 With a wider path, yes.6.60 Work trucks often park here. Future of the rail tracks should be determined.

6.61Would help me a lot while making my frequent trips from DC to Alexandria because there are not many bikeshare stations to stop and reset the 30 minute-timer along the stretch from the Thomas Jefferson Memorial to Alexandria

6.62 Would suggest moving this location to the street, just to the right of the image, because this forces deliv-ery trucks into the trail path and also narrows the only wide section of trail in Old Town.

6.63 Yes! More stations on MV trail!

Comment ID Comment7.1 Absolutely 7.2 agin near duke street , a bad place to ride, more links neede3d for bike paths7.3 Are you proposing to eliminate some stations?

7.4 Better to put one in a nearby shopping center (am I the only person in Alexandria who rides to stores?) and one at Beatley Library

7.5 bikes along trails is a no brainer7.6 Close to both a trail & Beatley library -- great idea.7.7 Close to trails, residential, and a commercial center. 7.8 Doesn’t seem necessary7.9 Don’t know the area well enough. I question the demand here.

7.10 Don’t know the area.7.11 Excellent location!!!!7.12 Good idea--room to maneuver, not too much traffic7.13 Good location- lots of people using trails and shopping area. 7.14 Good location near bike facilities/trails, and there are no other nearby stations.

7.15 Good spot next to Holmes Run Trail access and shopping center; diagonal orientation is a bit awkward, though

7.16 Good spot, close to shopping and the spot itself seems ideal optically and safety-wise7.17 Good West End option near popular destinations.7.18 Great Location for bike access to the shopping center! 7.19 Great location near grocery stores!7.20 Great location!!!!!7.21 Great to see stations proposed on the west end of the city. Great location!7.22 I am in favor of expanding the network out to this area, but indifferent as to where the locations area. 7.23 I cannot imagine where someone would be coming from or going at this location. Waste of money7.24 I don’t like the placement of the bikes here7.25 I think this is a great location for those who’d like to bike the Holmes Run Trail.7.26 I will support because it is close enough for me to pick up. 7.27 I would not ride a bike here if I had to. People get jumped on, whether walking or riding a bike.7.28 If on sidewalk a different story.7.29 Love this. Very very close to where we live7.30 Make this your number one priority!!! So many folks would benefit!!!7.31 Makes sense! Near shopping, near the trail. YES!!!

7.32 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

7.33 More convenient to be parallel to the road, not diagonal, as viewed here. Makes getting on/off roads/paths easier if parallel

7.34 Move to Duke St. south of Wells Fargo Bank.7.35 Near a bike trail, so more appropriate location.7.36 Nice connection to trails and an expansion into a new part of the community7.37 no need to take green space7.38 No one would use this7.39 No opinion - don’t live in or bike to this area.7.40 No preference7.41 Park and Ride!7.42 Perfect spot. People can easily ride to Eisenhower area bikeshare in 30 minutes7.43 Same objection, this is a pretty trail that doesn’t need any more clutter. 7.44 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.7.45 Takes up (removes) open space. Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpayers

7.46The largest source of CaBi riders is to go the last mile to the Metro. Suggest putting this off until Van Dorn Metro gets its own station because there are not enough nearby stations to generate significant ridership otherwise.

7.47 The system should expand in this direction, and several stations should show up together.

7.48 This area definitely needs one, not sure about this particular location. Maybe a spot with simpler access/visibility to the trail?

7.49 This is a great location for anyone wanting to ride on the HR trail OR to reach the Shops at Fox Chase.7.50 This would be an ideal place as alot of us would use the bikes. Whether for pleasure of work. 7.51 Very dark at night.7.52 Yay. What about Beatley library

7.53 Yes absolutely this would be amazing. Very central location for West End, in a popular spot along the bike trails. This would be another easy winner that would provide great benefit to the community I think.

Comment ID Comment8.1 Anything to get the huge amount of apt. dwellers in this area out of their cars and onto their bikes.8.2 Appropriate location8.3 bus service on eisenhower is minimal, this would aid in filling that gap.8.4 could put near metro a few blocks away, if not there already8.5 do not take green space8.6 Don’t know the area.8.7 Excellent

8.8 Fills a good gap in the network, near residences and a major destination. May be difficult to balance de-mand here at popular seasons with the park - if full, there is nowhere else around to dock.

8.9 Good idea, near regional park and fishing lake, no other stations nearby.

8.10Good location due to the trail and its not as busy a road as some other options, but no one really lives or works over here. Almost everyone would have to walk pretty far to get to it. Driving isn’t an option b/c there is no parking near here either.

8.11 Good spot for trail users, but is there a closer spot on the side of Cameron Run Regional Park that can be used?

8.12 Great choice, close to library and trail.8.13 Great location for residents at Cameron Parke and Cameron Run Park! 8.14 Great spot8.15 hate to see the green space disrupted8.16 I am in favor of expanding the network out to this area, but indifferent as to where the locations area.

8.17 I live across the street! I would for sure become an annual member! I currently ride my own bike from Alexandria to D.C. (L’Enfant Plaza) but would def make the switch to CaBis!

8.18 I stay away from parks and secluded places.8.19 I support it provided the path is widened. The path is very narrow in this area. 8.20 I support this because it is in the West End, but it seems to be a strange location.8.21 I think this is a great location for those who’d like to bike the Holmes Run Trail.8.22 I’d be more enthusiastic about this proposed station if it were closer to the animal shelter. 8.23 Key to E-W connection.8.24 May be hard for the public to access. It might only serve people who want to ride on the trail.8.25 Metro bus not frequent enough or convenient for commuters.

8.26 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

8.27 Move to west side of Lake Cook on north side of Eisenhower Av. in line with west end of the median.8.28 Need wider footprint there so bicyclists can get by

8.29 Nice connection to trails and an expansion into a new part of the community8.30 No clue. 8.31 No one would use this either8.32 No opinion - don’t live in or bike to this area.8.33 No preference8.34 No strong feelings, positive or negative, about this site.

8.35

NO WAY - this will hinder cyclist actually using the bike path. It is NOT safe location because the user of the bike share bikes will be pulling bikes out ACROSS the path which happens to be on the things that the park service signs say NOT TO DO - Don’t stop in the middle path. And to get the bike share bike out that is exactly what they have to do. SAFETY FIRST and follow the riding rules of the bike path. GEEZ.

8.36 not a heck of a lot of passerby traffic here--this is mainly a pathway for walkers, bikers with their own bikes, and runners. not sure how this site helps get cars off the road

8.37 Not much around the location. 8.38 Not sure where you would take this, but again- great that it’s near a path!8.39 Offices nearby, many people that live there take the bus or bike to work and metro station.

8.40Our automated counts show this trail has the lowest in the city and this station is neither convenient to nearby residents nor convenient to park users. And there is no trail connection to Eisenhower Metro, depriving this station of 1/3+ of potential ridership.

8.41 Seams oddly sited: if intended to serve the townhouses it should be further east. If intended for Holmes Run Park, it should be further west.

8.42 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.8.43 Takes up (removes) open space. Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpayers8.44 This does not make sense for a bike share location

8.45This doesn’t seem like much of a destination. Sometimes I wonder if City Staff really believes in bikeshare. If they did, they would be willing to convince businesses (apartments, shopping centers) to recognize its value as an amenity. These locations seem to be avoiding real destinations and thereby avoiding success.

8.46 This is more of a recreational bike area than a commuting area. Also not very accessible from Duke.8.47 This is not a priority for me but will give some support to the Eisenhower corridor which is growing.

8.48 This really isn’t on the Holmes Run Trail. Better identification might be Eisenhower Trail across from Lake Cook.

8.49 This would great for residents (Townes at Cameron Parke) and businesses in this area of Eisenhower!8.50 Very open and spacious area. Easy access.

8.51While I think this location is “ok” (why not the Animal Shelter or Cameron Park?) it provides a location on Eisenhower. I hope the Eisenhower Ave corridor will have station links along the way between the Eisen-hower M station (to connect to Old Town connectivity) and Van Dorn M Station.

8.52 Yay8.53 yes yes yes

8.54 Yes, another perfect location to get people out and it is along the bike path and near the parks along Cameron Run.

Comment ID Comment9.1 Adding this station would cause me to renew my membership. Please add this one!9.2 anything to improve connectivity in Lower Potomac Yard which today is an awful community9.3 Appropriate location.9.4 Can’t picture this one--is it near a new development or something? Is that a school?

9.5Close to existing PY station, and to TWO stations in Arlington at National Gateway so lower priority than West Alexandria - unless a developer is paying for this.

9.6 Don’t know the area.9.7 Fabulous idea.9.8 Good destination for shopping and Metroway bus stop. Closer to where I live than any current station.9.9 good for grocery shopping

9.10Good idea for a station here by the Giant grocery store. I have wanted to get groceries on my way home before, but couldn’t stop because I didn’t have a bike lock.

9.11Good infill option as Potomac Yard builds up. Other stations are not too far away right now, so this seems like it could be lower priority.

9.12 good locations near shopping and housing.9.13 Good spot to help neighborhood residents use bikeshare9.14 great for getting to/from the shopping center9.15 Great idea/location9.16 I don’t ride in traffic.

9.17I think you need to give some thought to what this survey is trying to accomplish. What question do you want to answer? Are you trying to find info on ridership? If so, that is probably available.

9.18 I would prefer this station on the other side of Rt 19.19 I would use this station for commuting as it would be the closest to my home.

9.20I’m not sure about the density use out here, but I believe the two locations on Reed are better than this one.

9.21Instead of this exact location, might be better to move to a more central location in Potomac yard. Per-haps more in the middle, or in front of the regal cinema

9.22 Isn’t this area being torn up soon?9.23 It’s just three blocks of the next station, not sure this is the right location network-wise9.24 Long overdue!9.25 Lots of demand in this area.

9.36Potomac Yard needs bikeshare stations, just not sure about this exact site. Maybe wait until the commer-cial town center gets going

9.37 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.9.38 Seems like a well-traveled commuter route.

9.39Should read: “East Glebe Road” Should be couple with efforts to advance the completion of Main Line Blvd through to Potomac Yard (or at least a temporary trail).

9.40There are already at least two bike stations close to this location. This location is right outside the very busy and poorly designed entrances to the Giant store. Are you deliberately trying to kill people ?

9.41 There is one close by. Would wait for Potomac Yard to develop9.42 This is definitely needed!9.43 This location is sorely needed, near retail and a lot of new housing

9.44

This would be a great connection to MetroWay & the Potomac Yard Shopping Center. We would use this station several times per week at least!! Our top choice! We have been hoping a station would come to this location!

9.45This would be another awesome location. Proximity to bike paths and D.C. as well, would be perfect for weekends and Cerry Blossoms!

9.46This would be great for Metroway commuters who get off at Glebe, but then have to walk several blocks west.

9.47This would dramatically improve bike access to the shopping center and harris teeter. Additionally, since a metro stop may be added nearby, this station would be useful in the longterm.

9.48This wouldn’t help me personally, but probably the best location considering everything around this loca-tion.

9.49 Too close to the entry /exit for the grocery store.9.50 Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpayers9.51 When is the Potomac Yard metro station coming?9.52 Would use this regularly for shopping

9.53YES - but the traffic signal at Glebe and Rt 1 needs to be made safer first (needs a green arrow signal on Glebe to cross/turn on Rt 1) I would not feel safe biking on glebe to this area as it is now.

9.54 Yes please9.55 Yes! This area is badly in need of CaBi.

9.56Yes. Yes. Yes. Near retail, near density, soon to be near Metro. Easy to ride to trails and Old Town and other stations. Yes!

Comment ID Comment10.1 Absolutely not. Should not be placed in any existing parking space. Parking is already insufficient.10.2 Appropriate location.10.3 Best idea ever!

10.4 Difficult riding conditions on Glebe. Is this to create access via Old Dominion from North Ridge to Arland-ria and Del Ray? If so, must be tied to infra improvements east from here to Mount Vernon Ave.

10.5 Do not give up parking

10.6 Docking and undocking bikes right next to a travel lane makes no sense. Move it off the pavement in-board of the sidewalk ad it would work.

10.7 Don’t bicycle, don’t have to.10.8 Don’t know the area.10.9 Don’t like them on the street.

10.10 First, this is West Glebe. Your demand map shows relatively low demand here. Removing parking spaces, somewhat undesirable.

10.11 Good Connection between Arlandria and Parkfairfax

10.12 Good residential infill, and good for Arlandria residents if it is coupled with efforts to increase access to CaBi for low income individuals.

10.13 I am not familiar with this area as much. 10.14 I dislike all of the stations that have been put in the streets, it blocks line of sight. 10.15 I do not think any bike share should be on the street side of the curb.

10.16 I support this general location but am concerned with exact placement on Glebe, a busy street that may be difficult to mount and dismount at station safely.

10.17 I would prefer the station to be on Glebe Road.

10.18 Look at your own picture. You’re going to eliminate two parking spaces for more bikes In a city where vehicle parking is at a premium already?

10.19 Lots of traffic on this road. 10.20 Low priority, low demand10.21 Lower priority to me than others in this corridor, though maybe more useful to nearby residents

10.22 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

10.31 Not enough bike traffic in that area to warrant imo.10.32 Not near me on the West End

10.33 Not sure what the ‘driveway’ is on the right side of the picture but if the bike stand could be places paral-lel to that road/trail it would avoid losing 2 parking spaces.

10.34 Oh heck no. 10.35 On street one’s are dangerous - seen several near misses with cars passing by10.36 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.10.37 Should read “West Glebe Road” Could also be located within Le Bosquet Park

10.38 Some signs directing users to Four Mile Run Trail would boost ridership. This neighborhood has the high-est bike to work rates in the city so excellent location!

10.39 Station users are protected by adjacent bikelane.10.40 Takes away parking10.41 The area needs it, but Glebe is very hostile to cyclists.

10.42 This is closest to my house. It would be closer than the bus. I strongly support this station. (I am a CB an-nual member)

10.43 This location will definitely help connect ParkFairfax & Shirlington to Potomac Yard.10.44 This looks like a good location, but I have questions about its impact on traffic flow.

10.46 This would really help Glebe commuters make it to metroway10.47 Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpayers10.48 Useful spot for residents along the bike lane

10.49 With speed bumps. This is a very heavily travelled road and not sure that it will be used by the target mil-lennial audience.

Nice connect for residents in the high rises along this section of HR Parkway, the improvements coming to All Veterans Park, and not too far from the Beatley Library. 12.1 5 years ago, I’d have been over the moon about this location. I’m concerned with all the redevelopment construction planned for this are making this a less than hospitable are to ride a bike. Plus there won’t be much “there” there to want to ride to (e.g., loss of movie theatre).

12.2A better usage would be across the street on RT 1. Still highly accessible for Potomac Yard shops but significantly more accessible to the lynhaven community and surrounding apartment buildings which are currently under utilized with bike share stops.

12.3 A good way stop between stations at Harris Teeter and closer to Old Town.

12.4

A station in this general area is a good idea, but this side of the road could create a dangerous situation for bikers crossing the road to get to the trail on the other side. If a station is implemented here, a sign encouraging bikers to watch for traffic when crossing the road, and to use the trail instead of biking on the road here would be a good idea. Potomac Ave doesn’t widen until after Four Mile Run, and biking on the road for that stretch could be dangerous for slower bikers.

12.5 Absolutely! Connection to school, shopping, and restaurants, highly visible! Good location!12.6 Again, given existing stations, low priority unless developer paid.12.7 Another good location. 12.8 Another great station so I could ride to Potomatic Yards.12.9 As long as it is off the street.

12.10 Being as there are no houses in this area, a bikeshare would really help metroway users.12.11 Better would be in the breezeway between the two halves of the Potomac Yard shopping center12.12 Could be good, but depends on the future retail.12.13 Don’t know the area.12.14 Don’t need to come here by bicycle.

12.15 Either this station or station option #9. I would shop at Potomac Yard more frequently if there were a sta-tion on or adjacent to the property.

12.16 Fully support. We need a station here, especially for folks taking bused 12.17 good connection for the Metroway bus

12.18

Good infill option as PY builds up. Concern here is that this part of the road is treacherous - I bike it every day. There is no bike lane and cars can be moving well above 25 mph. It may be difficult for a bike to start its journey on this part of the roadway. Is there an option along the trail on the west side of Potomac Ave or in the concrete area of Reed within the retail center?

12.19 Good location for Metroway connections and Potomac Yard shopping12.20 Good location serving shopping center and theater.

12.21 Great connection to MetroWay and the Potomac Yard Shopping Center. Nice filling in of gap between existing stations along Potomac Ave.

12.23 Great way to encourage folks to bike to movies or Potomac Yard shopping center, & it’s basically on a bike trail route too.

12.24I live in walking distance of this area. The shopping center here would GREATLY benefit from bikeshare stations, as there are none within the shopping center area. This area also has a high density of bike traf-fic, since it is close to the Mt. Vernon Trail. This would be very useful.

12.25 I think more stations along this cooridor is a good idea12.26 I think the google map link is wrong on this one.

12.27 I want a station in this general location but would prefer it be on the side of the street near the shopping center. That’s more likely to be a person’s destination than the movie theater.

12.28 If this is the best we can do in upper Potomac Yard then it will have to do.

12.29 If you build this it will be at one of newest and most dangerous pedestrian crossings in the city. If you build this one then no need for another one at the Giant store 3 blocks away

12.30 Indifferent, this station is not on my route.12.31 It would be better if on the west side of busy Potomac Ave next to the Potomac Yard Trail12.32 It would be better on the other side of the street12.33 Maybe this would be better across the street on the bike path? That road is dangerous for bikers

12.34 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

12.35 Move the stop west along Reed toward route 112.36 near bike path, but does anyone live here12.37 Near future Metro. On the other hand, demand is a bit in the future and construction is coming.12.38 No access to this for me. 12.39 no need to take green space12.40 Not sure if this would get as much traffic as the other proposed Potomac yard station?12.41 Ok.12.42 Place in parking lot12.43 Please install a station at this location! Great intermodal transit with the new Metroway stop.12.44 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.12.45 Should read “East Reed Avenue” 12.46 Takes up (removes) open space. Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpayers12.47 Think this is a bad choice. Hold off until you see where the demand is.12.48 This area could use better coverage, especially for connecting to transit at off-peak hours.12.49 This is already a traffic nightmare 12.50 This location is needed!12.51 This location works much better than the one on Main Line.

12.52 This station would be much improved if moved to East Gleebe and Route 1. It would be more convenient for shoppers and residents of Lynhaven.

12.53 This will serve the destinations around the Potomac Shopping area and enhance connections between Alexandria and Crystal City

12.54 While Potomac Yard needs a bikeshare location, this location is not convenient to anyone looking to shop.

12.55 Why aren’t there more stations are Potomac Yard? I feel very strongly stations here will be well used and provide a link to the stations in Arlington.

12.56 Why next to the bus stop?12.57 Why put it on top of the bus stop, slightly to the left?12.58 Would prefer station near giant12.59 yes at the movies yes

12.60 Yes please! I have wanted a station here for some time. I assumed none would come until after redevel-opment. So glad to see this option now.

12.61 YES this is a great spot! More bikes around Potomac Yard please please!

12.62 Yes! Putting stations near businesses would increase people’s use of bikeshare and decrease the use of cars. I love this location.

Comment ID Comment13.1 Absolutely not. Should not be placed in any existing parking space. Parking is already insufficient.13.2 Again taking away street parking one block away from the bike station at the library...why?13.3 Any new bikeshares in Old Town is a good idea.

13.4

As a regular cyclist, I’d lean toward another station like this in Old Town. However, the Old Town resi-dents (of which I am not one) will, I think, get so upset about another parking space going away that it may not be worth the fight. Personally, I want more bikes & less cars, but I know this makes some people, particularly elderly folks or folks w/ mobility issues, upset because they rely on cars, & I under-stand that.

13.5 Could be placed to the right so as to take up some of the parking restriction and less of the on street parking.

13.6 Do NOT reduce the parking in this area. And these bikes do not belong in the OAHD13.7 Don’t like it when they take up street space. 13.8 eliminates much needed parking for cars and adds to the ‘visual clutter’ taking over Old Town

13.9 Get real. Parking is already a challenge in 22314 and cars WHIP by this block making it across Washing-ton. This is a TERRIBLE location. Why would you even consider it?

13.10 Good Old Town infill option, though there will likely be local concerns about parking and traffic impacts.13.11 Good one, that’s a big gap13.12 good to have alternatives in this area, since the station demand is high.13.13 Great way to get into old town13.14 Heavily trafficked street. Never should be put on street side of the curb. 13.15 I am indifferent to this location.

13.16 I can ee that this makes sense. Bicyclists’ safety is not the best though on this street - needs to be im-proved!

13.17 I think there is already one VERY close by....

13.18I will give this station a higher grade if I knew Virginia Tech’s Landscape Architecture students will still be taking classes around this area. However, I heard classes will be moving around 1021 Prince St. by next spring, but I’m not sure.

13.19 I would rather see coverage expand than add density of stations.13.20 I’d use this. 13.21 in old town , probably best place so far

13.22 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

13.23 N E V E R !!!13.24 Need more dense network in Old Town to encourage greater use!13.25 Next to newly installed bike lanes; good spot

13.26 Nice in Old Town of course but I would love to see more in other areas of Alexandria first. 13.27 No bicycles in traffic.13.28 No more in street stations13.29 no opinion13.30 No opinion - don’t live in or bike to this area.13.31 No particular issue, but expansion outside Old Town is priority.13.32 No preference

13.33

NO WAY - this will hinder cyclist actually using the bike path. It is NOT safe location because the user of the bike share bikes will be pulling bikes out ACROSS the path which happens to be on the things that the park service signs say NOT TO DO - Don’t stop in the middle path. And to get the bike share bike out that is exactly what they have to do. SAFETY FIRST and follow the riding rules of the bike path. GEEZ.

13.34 Nope. Walkable, don’t need one here. So. Many. in Old Town already. There’s one at Safeway!13.35 Not needed and takes away parking13.36 Okay but not high priority due to other locations available nearby

13.37 Old and historic neighborhood--how out of place! Many BikeShare racks within a few blocks. DON”T DO THIS.

13.38 Old town needs more a stations in this area13.39 Old Town needs more bike docks!13.40 prefer not to take away existing parking where it is already limited13.41 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.13.42 Supports high projected demand.

13.43The City can not accommodate any more of these stations. I never see anyone using them--I would never use them. They are unsightly, detract from the historical, higher end element to the city and take up more space from cars and pedestrians. It discourages walking in the City which is a more desirable goal.

13.44 The station is too close to the road. 13.45 There are more locations that needed this service13.46 There is a bike lane along this stretch, will the bike station impede the bike lane?

13.47 This is a BUSY and very dangerous intrersection. Have seen many near misses of car v bike here especially since bike lanes installed (hence why I don’t use the bike lane here).

13.48

This is a very busy street and locating this here makes NO SENSE. Docking and undocking on a busy street, next to the bike lane is dangerous. This is a major street when there is a lot of snow and having this on the block will mean the plowing of Prince will be compromised. This is a bad idea start the end. Move it right around the corner to the two hour parking spaces on St. Asaph adjacent to the courthouse parking lot. That makes a ton of sense. This is ridiculous.

13.49 This part of Old Town really could use a station.

13.50 This part of Old Town would benefit from more Bikeshare. It’s near a brand new bike lane and would encourage more cycling from Metro to central Old Town.

13.51 Too congested area.13.52 Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpayers13.53 unattractive in the Old Town location

13.54While this neighborhood needs more bikeshare stations, putting this location right on King St or a side street perpendicular to King St would generate more ridership. Prince/Union St has similar dynamics, people don’t see bikeshare nearby and don’t use it.

13.55 Why there? I think the spots on King St. are close enough...

13.56 With so many stations already in old town and with limited parking, keeping the parking may be worth more than an additional station.

13.57 Yes. It is located in an area I visit often and could pick a bike up to return home.

Comment ID Comment14.1 Absolutely not. Since when do you ride a recreational toy in the street?14.2 Better choice for PY to Arlandria, 4MRT, etc.14.3 Better would be closer to Cora Kelley14.4 Bikeshare here would support a largely under-served population.

14.5Can’t tell where this is but it looks very heavy car traffic--again, this is a millennial target audience and I don’t think the demographics support it--and again, they are going to ride on the sidewalk because it’s too dangerous to ride in the road. No.

14.6 Cyclists on Glebe. Bad.14.7 Does not support West End..14.8 Don’t know the area.14.9 Good connection to several bus routes.

14.10 Good job hiding from nearby businesses. (more snark)14.11 good location, but I wonder if Arlandrians are interested14.12 Good location.14.13 I would not ride a bike in this area14.14 low projected demand area. 14.15 Lynhaven and Arlandria areas are currently underserved by Capital Bikeshare.

14.16 Money for trail maintenance and widening, more bike lanes that don’t eventually disappear, better road crossings and driver awareness is desperately needed before adding more bike share stations.

14.17 More stations are needed in Arlandria/Lynhaven.14.18 move closer to Cora Kelly14.19 My vote for the best spot. Right between delray and catching bike trail14.20 Need another station at Four Mile Run Farmers Market site.14.21 Nice for Del Ray but why can’t it be on Mt Vernon itself?14.22 No preference

14.23 Not sure about demand here, but it would be a good access point if it is coupled with efforts to increase access to CaBi for low income individuals.

14.24

PLEASE ADD THIS STATION! I am a bikeshare user who lives in this community (Hume Springs) and we do not have a bikeshare dock right in the neighborhood. The area would greatly benefit from one, since it would allow easier access to the metro stations (braddock, crystal city, pentagon city). These are a close bike ride away - faster to bike than to take the bus when bike access is available. However, the nearest bike docks are 10+ minute walk. Additionally, this area has several bike lanes nearby, plus access to the Mt. Vernon trail. It is also close to a community center and a park. This is an optimal station placement. I would almost certainly use bikeshare several times a week if there was a station here.

14.25 Potentially a great idea. Have to weigh whether increased pedestrian traffic here is SAFE

14.26 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.14.27 Should not prevent access to public sidewalks14.28 Should read “West Reed Avenue”14.29 Shouldn’t be taking away sidewalk space.

14.30 Takes up (removes) pedestrian space. Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpay-ers

14.31 The Glebe Rd. corridor is surprisingly under-covered given its location, transit density, etc. This one serves me better than Glebe/Old Dominion, though the other might give better coverage for nearby residents.

14.32

The nearest bike station to my house is currently near Mom’s supermarket, but it is a pain in the ass to use, as there is no path off the 4 mile trail to the bikestation. As such, if I wanted to ride the bikeshare for my commute, it’d need to take a massive detour on my way home in order to return the bike. This sta-tion is both closer to my house, and would enable me to exit the trail at the top of edison st.

14.33 The three stations in the northwest serve communities that ride for short distance transportation. More may ride if there is an affordable Bikeshare

14.34 There are already plenty of stations in this neighborhood that are not fully utilized. 14.35 There two locations 3-4 blocks away... no sure if this is needed14.36 This along with the other one on Reed and Glebe will help connect Potomac Yard.

14.37 This part of Alexandria is not walkable to a metro station. A bikeshare here would allow access and trans-portation to Crystal City or Braddock without driving

14.38 Very accessible spot, trail is close by

14.39 We need one in Warwick Village. This is closest new one I see, so I support it. But We really really need one in Warwick Village.

14.40 While the neighborhood needs a bikeshare, it might generate more ridership being closer to Mt Vernon Ave.

14.41 YES - If the station on Mt. Vernon & Kennedy is full this would really help. More access to four mile run!14.42 yes Arlandia

15.1As a resident in this neighborhood and a Capital Bikeshare member, I currently have to walk over a mile to reach a bikeshare bike. That said, if I were to be picking the location in ParkFairfax I would have put it at the top of Gunston at the management office area, but I’ll take what I can get.

15.2 Decent residential infill option.15.3 Does not follow my route. No use for it. 15.4 Don’t know the area.15.5 don’t use

Comment ID Comment16.1 a nice pit-stop after riding across the Woodrow Wilson bridge16.2 Cross the bridge by bicycle!

16.3 Definitely a good idea, though I’d prioritize the Glebe corridor and westward expansion. It seems likely that this would be the southernmost station for a very long time.

16.4Even better for the cherry blossoms and in general getting to D.C., but I am not sure if having it just at the bridge will capture enough people or if it needs to be near some other multiuse area to catch people and parking?

16.5 Excellent bike testing facility. If these bikes can handle the expansion joints on the Wilson Bridge, they can handle anything! Also good for tourists.

16.6Excellent choice to connect with WW Trail and future Bikeshare at National Harbor. I think the city should make some effort to encourage cyclists to use Jones Point Park and Royal for Old Town destinations and not the narrow sidewalks along Washington Street.

16.7 Excellent position that will make trips to/from National Harbor and the Mount Vernon Trail more viable16.8 Good access to Mt. Vernon Trail16.9 Good idea but heavy traffic! bike lanes even here? I don’t think so

16.10 Great connection to a trail and the Freedmen Cemetery Memorial.16.11 Great location16.12 Great location. Are there any across the bridge in the National harbor?16.13 Great to provide additional access to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge16.14 hard to imagine anyone using this. No residences. No businesses. No parking. Nothing to do there.

16.15 I bike through here regularly and a station in this specific spot would block the sidewalk currently needed for cyclists and walkers

16.16 I like the idea of encouraging/making easier bike trips across the Wilson Bridge (trips in the bike lane, obviously).

16.17 I like this idea.

16.18

I live next door to this location (at Hunting Towers) and would not want to see a bikeshare at this loca-tion. There are ones close enough further down Washington and this breaks up the nice urban bridge and serenity of the graveyard and Freeman’s memorial with an eyesore. Please don’t put a bikeshare rack here!

16.19 I would occasionally use this - there’s no where to lock up my own bike to then run on the bridge - opens options!

16.20I would suggest moving to the railing overlooking the cemetery. The problem is this is one of the busiest cycling areas and the station is going to disrupt movement through the area. There is more space by the map and railing overlooking cemetery.

16.21 I’m not sure this station would be used much.16.22 Looks like it will be in the way.

16.23 Low demand projected. Station would look bad here and doesn’t seem positioned to server either a des-tination (who rides to the bridge and then goes walking?) or residents.

16.29 No.

16.30 Not on Washington. Move it perpendicular to Washington in one of the approach areas. Better yet, move it closer to the retail area nearby.

16.31 Obviously coordinate with PG and expansion in Nat Harbor. 16.32 really good if there will be stations in National Harbor...16.33 See comments above: We need trail enhancements throughout the area before Increasing capacity.16.34 Seems like a no-brainer here!

16.35 Shorten time a ped/bike has to wait to cross GW Parkway. The light to cross from the 495 bridge to Jones Point is too long.

16.36 should give it a shot

16.37Should not prevent access to public sidewalks. Sidewalks were designed for know conditions many bikes, pedestrians and runners use this are an it needs to remain open and available . This space will not be safe if 1/2 is taken for bikeshare

16.38 Stay home and stay safe and drive my car or the bus.16.39 Takes away a lot of sidewalk real estate where lots of people are. Will cause accidents.

16.40 Takes up (removes) pedestrian space. Too many underutilized stations now at too great a cost for taxpay-ers

16.41Terrible idea. So all that money is spent to beautiful the bridge over 495 and you want to put a bikeshare there... To much pedestrian and bike traffic as it is. No decent way to cross over the parkway from one side to the other to get a bike.

16.42

Theoretically a good location as it is on the Mt. Vernon bike trail and the trail across the bridge. However, the bridge overpass platform has been landscaped very nicely and is a nice entryway from Mt. Vernon into Old Town. Those awful bike station will be a huge eyesore and diminish the pretty landscaping/en-trance to the City. NO!

16.43 There’s nothing around (retail, restaurants) to support bikeshare here

16.44 This area is busy. Adding a bike share station to the existing mix of cars, buses, pedestrians, and cyclists is an accident in the making.

16.45 This is a consistent location for bike groups to gather. 16.46 This is a must... access to the Mt Vernon Parkway trail and future expansion with The National Harbor.

16.47 This is an accident waiting to happen. Clueless bikeshare riders (and worse yet, tourists), crowded area with self-involved walkers and strollers, and fast Mt. Vernon Trail bicyclists trying to get by--NO.

16.48 This looks like a nice spot too.16.49 This spot makes sense. It could even encourage biking to National Harbor.

16.50This station is trying to be convenient to Hunting Point residents and south Old Town residents, and as a results, serves neither very well and is not convenient for anyone. Suggest adding one station just south for Hunting Point residents and another on Green St next to Washington St.

16.51 Too dangerous. 16.52 UGH. Please do not do this. This is gateway to our City. How unattractive are you trying to make it?

16.53While this is a good area to have a bikeshare, I don’t think taking away part of the side walk would be good in such a heavy pedestrian and bike area. I recommend across the street in the grassy area next to the freed man memorial.

16.54 Wide sidewalk should support this. Good location if the plan is for PG County to add CaBi.16.55 Will facilitate connectivity to National Harbor!16.56 Will MGM / NH have CaBi too?

16.57 Would be extremely helpful if biking to/from National Harbor, where they are planning to install bike-share stations

16.58 Yes as it allows bikers to park at Jones Point pick up a bike and travel many heavily trafficked routes. 16.59 ZOMG yes yes yes
