Bigwig is a hardcore punk band from New Jersey, formed in 1995. They were originally composed of Josh Farrell (guitar), John Castaldo (bass), Tom Petta (guitar/vocals), and Dan Rominski (drums).

Since their inception, they have been steadily gaining popularity, having played / toured with such bands as Pennywise, Less Than Jake, Blink-182, The Ataris, The Vandals, New Found Glory, No Use for a Name, NOFX, The Suicide Machines, Agnostic Front, Lagwagon, and Reel Big Fish. Following the release of their 2001 album Invitation To Tragedy' Both Josh Farrell and Tom Petta have received producers credits on several well known albums. Tom Petta has most recently produced the new record entitled "For Heaven's Sake" by Canadian punk rock band Only Way Back.

Each brand new edition of the album includes a re-mastered version of the original. The second in the new Oasis: Chasing The Sun series, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, will be released on 29th September on Big Brother Recordings. Demand for the legendary Manchester band remains as strong as ever: the first reissue in the series, Definitely Maybe, recently entered the album chart at No.5, selling almost 20,000 copies in its first week. Claudio Sanchez has officially launched his record label Evil Ink Records and his first signing is New Jersey’s young experimental progressive rock septet Thank You Scientist. The newly formed label, distributed by INgrooves, will be releasing a fully remixed and remastered version of the band’s 2012 debut full-length record, Maps of Non-Existent Places, on September 30th, in time for their run with Coheed and Cambria’s “Neverender:IKSSE3 Tour.”

Claudio Sanchez knows a little bit about progressive music. His career has spanned 12 years and 7 albums, likely encompassing the longest concept album arc in the history of rock and roll. Now, in effort to further support and promote his beloved complex genre, he has launched a label dedicated to sharing a wealth of future talent with the first signing being the extremely talented seven-piece band Thank You Scientist.

For the uninitiated, Thank You Scientist was forged from the music program at Montclair State University in New Jersey when guitarist Tom Monda met saxophonist Ellis Jasenovic and trumpeter Andrew Digrius. The three bonded over their love for Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra, The Beatles and Harry Nilsson. Those influences would become the seeds for what Thank You Scientist would evolve into today.

With the addition of vocalist Salvatore Marrano, bassist Greg Colacino, drummer Odin Alvarez and violinist Ben Karas, Thank You Scientist’s lineup of virtuoso musicians was complete. The band would go on to self-release an EP, The Perils of Time Travel, in 2011 followed by their debut full-length, Maps of Non-Existent Places, in 2012, which caught the ear of Sanchez, a fellow purveyor of progressive stylings, and led to his signing of the band.

To pinpoint Thank You Scientist’s sound would be inconceivable. On Maps of Non-Existent Places they hold a virtual master class on musicianship, fusing elements of progressive rock with jazz fusion, classical, metal, psychedelic and pop for a head spinning, mind-blowing listening experience. The seven-piece band, who collectively play some 20 instruments, boasts a hyper-composed sound which is indebted to their experience and formal training in both classical and jazz idioms.

A Frank Zappa for the indie generation? Incubus jamming with the Mahavishnu Orchestra? Mr. Bungle and Steely Dan joining forces to fight Godzilla? King Crimson and the Brecker Brothers serenading you at your bedside? It all seems so strange on paper, yet it’s sure to satisfy your ears in the best of ways.

Minus The Bear will release their latest LP, Lost Loves, on October 7th via Dangerbird Records. The seasoned Seattle, WA five piece will embark upon a club tour this fall in support of the new album as well as the 10th anniversary re-release of their fan favorite EP, They Make Beer Commercials Like This. For a band that routinely sells out 1000+ cap venues across the country, the small rooms scheduled for the coming dates will provide an intimate setting for fans to experience the new album. The follow up to Infinity Overhead, which reached #31 on the Billboard 200 as Minus The Bear's highest charting album to date, Lost Loves lives up to its title quite literally as a collection of hard to let go songs pulled from the band's past seven odd years of writing, recording and releasing records. "Inevitably some of your favorite songs are going to be cut in the necessity of creating the right sequence for that particular time," says bassist Cory Murchy. "Regardless of the reason they weren't included, it wasn't for lack of love and appreciation of the songs themselves." Somewhat by chance the black sheep that didn't quite fit in with Planet of Ice, OMNI, and Infinity Overhead coalesce among their once regretfully forsaken peers. That each song was out of place on more conceptual releases is a harbinger of what to expect from Lost Loves as a collection of compositions that channel the essential essence of Minus The Bear's songwriting. Two short years after forming, Moose Blood returns with their impressive, debut full-length record, I’ll Keep You In Mind, From Time To Time.

“I'll Keep You In Mind, From Time To Time is everything that we've been working towards since the start of the band in 2012,” says drummer Glenn Harvey. “I think there is a much more personal and honest feel to this record than on anything else we've done up to this point. Seeing these songs turn from ideas at our practice space to a finished 11 track album has been an incredible experience. We're all really proud of this record and we can't wait for everybody to finally hear it.”

Moose Blood aren’t afraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves. Produced by Saosin guitarist Beau Burchell, I’ll Keep You In Mind, From Time To Time is replete with heartfelt, yearning lyrics about life and love that exude vulnerability with a comforting warmth. The record moves through waves of emotion from the pensive opening balad “Cherry” to the follow-up upbeat tempo of “Anyway,” sailing through the mounting crescendos of “I Hope You’re Missing Me” to the memorable, driving rhythm of “Swim Down.” With each chorus and riff, I’ll Keep You In Mind, From Time To Time draws listeners in with its unrelenting honesty and intense passion. 2014 will undoubtedly be the year Moose Blood makes their everlasting mark on the alternative rock scene.
