An important theme of this documentary is human migration.

Spencer Wells traces our ancestry back to Africa and then continues to explore the areas of the world that he thought our ancestors might have migrated to.

He found many similarities in features of certain people across the world

Peoples And Empires This book is about the exploration and colonization of different areas. A

major theme is culture.

Different areas were overtaken by different empires and established new cultures around the world.

Catastrophe! The link between science and

history is a theme in this film.

Scientists studied tree rings to learn about climate information in the Dark Ages.

Ice cores were also used to detect possible volcanic activity

Living conditions forced people to migrate across the world

The World in 1492 The discovery of the ability to travel any ocean and any land led to new

inhabitants.

Different areas were able to produce different things due to their environments. Some had an advantage over others.

Eastern and Western Eurasia started to trade goods which made it possible for new spices and different sources of food to be created.

Guns, Germs, & Steel This was mainly about the differences of continents and their environments.

Food production was crucial for a surviving society, those who could not produce were overtake by a stronger society.

Some people were able to create new inventions to strengthen their society and others were not able to do so because of lack of materials or environment issues.
