Task Definition

Students will research a disease for Health class and be able to present a slide show on the topic.

Students must select a topic and have it approved by the teacher.

The teacher and students will also brainstorm and generate an outline and rubric for the assignment.

Information Seeking Strategies

Students brainstorm and decide that possible sources for information about diseases would be: textbooks, encyclopedias, and medical websites.

The media specialist helps some students access WebMD and the Mayo Clinic website.

Other students look in the encyclopedia for their topics.

A student takes notes from WebMD using his own words.

A student has the media specialist photocopy pages out of the encyclopedia for her.

Synthesis

Each student creates his/her own slide show and presents it.
