TheEEAfoundingregulationmandatestheAgency'topublishareportonthestateof,trendsinandprospectsfortheenvironmenteveryfiveyears,supplementedbyindicatorreportsfocusinguponspecificissues'.
PartDprovidesanoverviewofthereportsEEAhaspublishedsincethepreviousfive-yearreport,Environment in the European Union at the turn of the century.ItcoversallenvironmentalreportsissuedintheperiodJanuary2000toNovember2005andtheelectronicversionalsoincludeshyperlinkstotheproducts.Corporatereports,suchasannualreportsandyearlyworkprogrammes,aswellaspromotionalbrochures,areexcludedfromthisoverview.
Until2003,EEAreportswerepublishedinfourseries:Environmentalassessmentreports,Environmentalissuereports,TopicreportsandTechnicalreports.In2004,thesewerereplacedbytwonewseries:EEAreportsandEEAtechnicalreports.Inaddition,EEAbriefingswereintroducedin2003.
AlthoughtheEEAcontinuesitspublicationofindicatorreports,theregularindicatorreportingisincreasinglyundertakenviatheInternetonly.ThecoresetofindicatorspresentedinpartsBandCofthisreportwillberegularlyupdatedontheEEAwebsite.
Mostofthereportsarepresentedwitheitherthefullorslightlyshortenedversionofthesummarytextaswrittenatthetimeoftheirlaunchonthewebsite.ReportsthathavebeenpublishedbyotherorganisationsunderlicenceagreementswiththeEEA,andarenotavailableontheEEAwebsite,arenotincludedinthisoverview.
Thereportsarearrangedasfollows.Afterpresentingallpreviousstate-of-the-environmentreportsandSignalsreports,thereportsarelistedbythemeinlinewiththegroupsintheCoresetofindicators.TitlesthatareofamoretechnicalnatureandcontributetothedevelopmentofEionetandinformationsystemsarelistedseparatelyattheend.Theyarealsogroupedbytheme.
Withineachtheme,thereportsarelistedchronologicallyandeventhoughareportcutsacrosstwoormorethemesitislistedonlyonce.ThisiscontrarytotheReportsectionoftheEEAwebsitewherereportsareassignedtoallthethemestheycover.Whenareportexistsinmorethanonelanguageversion,alinkisprovidedtoeach.Finally,allthereportsarelistedagaininamorecondensedlist,groupedbytheseriestheybelongto.
Thesereports,andthepreviousstate-of-the-environmentreports,establishtheknowledgebaseuponwhichthepresentreportrelies.Inaddition,the2005reportisbuiltonninesub-reportswhichareintheprocessofbeingpublished.Thefirstthreereportsareincludedinthisoverview,markedas'Sub-reporttothepresentreport'.
TheEEAwebsite(www.eea.eu.int)hasacomprehensivelistofalltheEEAproductsandservicesandincludesreportsissuedpriortotheperiodcoveredbythisoverview,aswellasfutureproductions.
